Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

KenyaI think the bug prevention at meals could be better. Perhaps some sort of moving curtains or something could work.
Excellent location. Lovely staff on the property. I suggest walking safari by the river. Lots of animals to see. Nearby the old station where the lions actually prayed on the people who constructed the bridge. Just a nice place to visit both for a short while or for a longer holiday. Nearby the entrance to Tsavo East and Tsavo West.

We loved the location on the river where we could spot hippos, crocodile and monkeys. The lodge is as close to nature as could be. The tented huts were airy and comfortable, staff extremely helpful and friendly.

United KingdomWe were rather disappointed with the quality and variety of the food, and not impressed by the build quality of our tent (tin roof, poorly fitting doors).
Attractive main building with a nice pool and comfortable tents. Very helpful staff. There was potential to see wildlife coming down to the river (but nothing much appeared).

South AfricaThere wasn't anything that I didn't like. I came to work and had my own wi-fi hotspot.
It was peaceful. The staff were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are comfortable and I thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the verandah overlooking the Tsavo River. The setting is both historic and beautiful.

The Maneaters Camp is a special place to stay, because of the story behind it (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsavo_Man-Eaters) additionally to the wonderful camp that it is. It is very clean, the staff is wonderfully friendly, the rooms are big, extremely clean, the sheets, pillows and the towels are clean and good quality (i am particular about that). very comfy beds and a nice balcony at the back, with comfy chairs and even sunbeds. The staff went out of their way to help and advise - extremely helpful! there is a pool area, clean pool and excellent place to stay outside in the evening. The camp is not very big, which is GREAT, so good in comparison to other big mass tourism camps. A breath of fresh air. I wholeheartedly recommend going there!

United KingdomWe have returned from a stay at Man Eaters Camp & would absolutely recommend staying here. This camp is perfect as a half way stop on your way to the coast aswell as being a great Safari base. The camp is easy to find and takes you through the original Man Eaters Camp on the railroad & you can visit a museum full of images and artefacts when you reach the main camp. The location is wonderful. Situated on the Tsavo River it is abundant with wildlife and really immerses you in the environment. The location couldn't be better! The accommodation is great, you sleep near the River in a luxury tent with the sounds of wildlife to sleep and wake with. Plenty of hot water and a very big, clean & comfortable bed. The tent is super spacious and there is a balcony with lounge chairs to relax on and watch the Hippo bathing in the water below! We opted for dinner & breakfast meals which were buffet style and very tasty. There was plenty of choice to eat and the setting of the restaurant was wonderful. There was a live singer in the evening which really made the evening feel very special. The Staff were exceptional, very kind and welcoming. Phestas welcomed us and made the check in process really quick and easy, he was very knowledgeable about the camp history. Nicodemus showed us around our accommodation and made great jokes with us about the local crocodile! We were escorted at night by Johnstone back to our tent who assured us he would be available all evening ensuring all the guests were safe and comfortable in their accommodation. The facilities are fantastic, there is plenty to do inbetween Safaris, a lovely pool & bar area along with T.V & recreational activities. A really wonderful stay, thank you and we hope to visit again!

As you can tell by the name Man-eaters is at the location of the famous man eating lions. See the film The Ghost and The Darkness and then go and stay where it happened. The position is awesome with the river at the back of the rooms and wild animals free to roam. There is a slight blight with a new railway that can be seen by some of the rooms in the distance but that is a small price to pay for the being at the 'stage' of the man eaters of Tsavo. We went on a history walk with Nico which was brilliant -even showing us some forgotten victims graves and there is a museum about the events. The complex is in the Tsavo East park but does not have direct access to the rest of the park ( they should work on this) . Saying this it is a perfect stop between Nairobi and the coast and perfect for being near the parks. All the staff were great and Beatrice on the front desk made sure our last day in Kenya was perfect.- thank you. To be honest I am surprised some film buff hasn't bought this place and made more of the Hollywood connection. I can thoroughly recommend staying here but do watch the film first.
