Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LatviaThe hotel is located in the most interesting part of Diani beach. Very nice palms on the beach. Very nice and sandy beach. Possibility to swim at high and low tides. The manager Joanes is very responsive, he helped us with solving many issues, including late check-out. The hotel rooms are very well thought out and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious too.

United KingdomIt was very run down with very old and falling apart fixtures and fittings. The food was not great, but the proximity of Nomads and other restaurants meant that it didn’t impact us that much.
The location was superb. Very close to Nomads beach restaurant where we went every day for Lunch.

The breakfast had a great selection of fruit , pastries and hot selection of tasty choices catered for all, a choice freshly squeezed juices , watermelon was absolutely divine my sister loved passion fruit juice which was the other option. We also experienced tasty omelette done in front you with choices of fillings. The caffe latte was lovely tea lovers like my sister had Chai Masala which she had it every day. All the staff were welcoming and happy to assist, from Manager , the guest service Joanes , Jacinta & Georgina were hands on in checking on your well being on a daily basis. Chef Blanks , Sammy & Thomas cooked a few amazing local meals which were very tasty. Thanks to all the cooks, waiters & waitresses ,bar staff housekeepers were efficient Overall beautiful setting few minutes away from beach and security was good as your able to enjoy sun bath in without harassments from beach vendors. I highly recommend it if you want quite relaxing time and surrounded with everything you need. Big thanks to the Gardners on a daily basis make the grounds clean & beautiful.

NetherlandsOne of our three rooms was unavailable when we arrived, because a recurring guest felt sick and they let him/her stay another night. Not a very pleasant surprise after you’ve had a very long trip to the hotel. The hotel booked a room at another property for 2 of our group of 6. They made those two wait for quite a while before they dropped them off though.
The location was excellent, a beautiful view of the ocean from the dining area, bar, and swimming pool. Most of all, we liked the head of housekeeping (Jonas, perhaps spelled differently?). He made sure our stay was excellent, and was very worried and empathetic when one of us got food poisoning. He made our stay great!

South AfricaWhere to start? Don't believe the photographs. Let me preface this by saying I don't blame the staff for the problems -these are 100% an owner's responsibility, and nobody can blame people who just work there. Hopefully the owners will wake up to the reality that you cannot charge people a lot of money for a hotel in this condition, neither can you justify outright lying in your advertising about what guests are going to get. It's not right. They need to fix Safari, or turn it into a budget accommodation. The property is huge & run down and half of it was like a ghost town, with neglected, empty buildings. Even in the common areas, things were falling apart & recliners were filthy. At night the lighting outside was very weak, and huge areas be dark & scary-looking to an outsider unfamiliar with Kenya. It seemed they were trying to save money on every corner! Probably once a good hotel, but has been severely neglected. My room smelled musty; bath had rust stains & taps that did not work AT ALL; shower had ugly very rusty taps, & the sliding door leading to outside could easily be broken into - the framework holding it was coming off the wall. There were two interleading doors in a single doorframe connecting one room to the next (one per side, so either side can lock their door), But the door on my side was open & had no key. I asked for it, but it was missing. They assured me nobody was staying in the other room, but what does that mean when you want to feel safe? It's not good enough. And trust me, I'm no spoilt princess - I'm a farm girl, but I'm also honest & hardworking and I expect to get value for money. Worst part: nobody cared, and I felt a vague threat not to review badly. (Have told my local friends!) The food was absolutely not up to international standards, with breads (stale) being recycled day by day, & flies on everything.
The enormous bed was very comfortable, and the huge white African bungalows look lovely during the day. Most of the staff were really nice; one man in particular a really lovely, good person who always had a big smile and a kind word. (Only one woman made me uncomfortable when she made unnecessary comments about me in Swahili after I queried something, not realising I'm familiar with the language.) I like that the monkeys are welcome and not chased away. The swimming pool is the best feature of the property - very well maintained, and the one thing that doesn't look old. It's huge and beautiful. I was terribly disappointed at the pool rules: No swimming after 6pm!! This is the tropics, and 6pm is still hot, broad daylight and the best time to swim, but they are very strict about this. I usually give great reviews, but I cannot lie: The location is pretty much the only awesome thing about this hotel. I realised on my last day that almost all the international travellers lying on the sun loungers were only coming there during the day for the beachfront -- at night it was just locals in the hotel (you can't lie on the beach itself -- it's too hot, and you will get harassed literally every single minute of the entire day by beach boys selling things, including themselves.) I was told by some foreigners that they rent apartments in town and come to Safari just for the beach access. So there you go.
