Facilities need an upgrade but not unbearable as location made up for it.

The location was perfect. Right on a private beach, close enough to town to enjoy other restaurants. Lovely friendly staff at the hotel. On site bar Lichthaus was incredible. Great food and sundowners. Snorkling tour team and guest relations were lovely.

The hotel is old, but problem is that isn`t well maintained. All the sounds from the next room could be heard. The neighbor coughed regularly and it was very disturbing. Some of the lamps in the room didn`t work, cabinet drawer handles were broken, some lamps in the territory are broken -these are small things that do not require large investments. Breakfast was poor and overpriced for such an offer, cheese plates empty, salad bar too, no fish.

We like Lichthaus bar at the territory of the hotel. The room was clean, bed clothes and towels had been changed every day. Bottles of water were replenished daily.

The food is basic. Heard a lot of humming and beeping noises outside and inside my room. Sleeping without earplugs was not possible for me.

Stunning beach. Funny monkeys strolling around. Welcoming and very friendly staff.

The hotel changes its policy in a whim be it on access to gym or inclusivity of breakfast without informing clients: on

I did not like the room assigned room 1D ( it had partial view of the ocean but far from many things ). The pump above the room constantly hummed with funny “coughing like sound” as well the room was quipped with all the toiletries except lotion. I was disappointed to forfeit booking at Hemingway that could have offered breakfast for Temple point. The staff that attended to me are absolutely lovely people. The staff ushering guest at the Lichthaus needs to be trained on sensitivity “theories of isms” being singed out when white guests aren’t and asked twice in a row by the same person “whether I am guest at the hotel” while the white guest that I was with isn’t asked and somehow need to pay the entrance fee was impulsively annoying but also implying that somehow I possess distinct inferior racial characteristics, financial inabilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish me as incapable of being a guest at Temple point

In general, the hotel is expanding and building new structures like yoga place and a very good place for a stay in Watamu —-but I’ll reconsider my choices next year because of breakfast policy. The swimming pool is lovely as always and the New Fitness in an open space is well equipped and modern and I enjoyed working out. Rooms are stocked with water and variety of tea and a pot. Easy access to Lichthaus. Bed was comfy with many pillows.

the location is decent - there's access to a very small beach from the hotel, but if you want to access the main beach you'll have to walk 15 min or drive. the pool is big and clean. breakfast is ok. good diving centre at the hotel. the view from lichthouse is beautiful

The monkeys are everywhere and a real nuisance during breakfast. Hotel should provide an indoor space for breakfast because it is really stressful and takes away from enjoying the otherwise great breakfast.

Breakfast was excellent, lots of variety. Brand new Gym is top of the line (I had to pay to access the gym but they changed the policy after my complaint and now should be free for guests. Easy access to Lichthaus.Bed was comfy with many pillows.

Dinner buffet is expensive compare to all the restaurants in Watamu. The room was not so clean, the hallway light bulb was missing but nobody replaced it, the shower curtain not long enough so every time we would take a shower, the entire bathroom was full of water and the safe-deposit box was not closing. We booked a table at the Lichthaus, as advised by the staff. But when we arrived, our reservation was not taken and we didn’t not have any space. The spa was closed for renovation when we were there and they didn’t tell us before, a bit disappointing since we didn’t know before checking in. Those are just a few details that if fixed, would make the experience entirely perfect.

Amazing location with incredible views and very quiet, a bit outside of the noises of Watamu. All the hotel is full of beautiful trees and a lot of green spaces. Our room had direct view and access (little beach in front of the room) on the Mida creek. Overall, it felt like on a paradise island (even though it’s obviously not on a island). The facilities of the hotel are great and well maintained. The yoga classes during sunrise or sunset on the yoga deck were perfect, with an amazing teacher. Fitness space is well equipped and modern. In general, the hotel is a very good place for a stay in Watamu. The staff is very attentive to our needs. Breakfast is good.

Toiletries were limited thus we didn’t have enough towels and body wash so best to buy some, just to be on the safe side. The food is also okay, not great. I however would like to mention that Swahili night has delicious delicacies.

The first thing I heard when arriving to the hotel after hello was that absolutely NONE drinking water from outside. Then you hear it again in the reception and from the guy taking you to your room again. We nicknamed them "the water police" with my partner. Mind you, I arrived with some bottles of water, because come on, you are travelling in Africa, so water was taken from our luggage and deposited in the reception. You are given 1,5 l per person per day in your room (in 30 degrees heat) and anything above you are forced to buy in the hotel (at approximately $3/bottle). You get no not even non-alcoholic drinks with your board - not even tea/coffee or the legendary water for dinner. I asked 4 members of staff about this - from managers to waiters and every time I got a different cheeky response - ranging from "this is about plastic" to "other hotels give you just 0.5 litre per day, we give you 1.5litre". I travel to Kenya regularly and frankly, this is the first hotel that very nearly searches your luggage for water. Anywhere else I went, you can OF COURSE bring water from outside to your room (because tap water is not for drinking). The half board - every day different information about what is included. There was no buffet because hotel was quite empty, I can understand that, but spending 5 nights in the hotel, I heard a different version every day about what I can choose from the menu - going from any starter to no starter, from any dessert to "just fruit" on the last day, from anything from the main meals to virtually just fish or chicken. So frankly, quite glad we did not spend a longer time. One day we ordered something we were told is included in the menu, and then asked to pay for it, because the restaurant manager then changed his mind that it is too expensive a meal he allowed us to have. Another day, we were told that we cannot choose a different side dish.

The hotel is very pretty and the location is amazing, you are a bit secluded from the town, but you get the best of access to both the Creek and the ocean. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The food is very good, in terms of cooking and so is the breakfast. However, there are some major disadvantages of the half board or full board - see below. The staff, as individuals, are without exception nice people keen to help you anytime. There is a big BUT however - some of the hotel policies are just plain cheeky or annoying - so I think the hotel management are some Europeans who are just trying to rip additional money off you at any opportunity.

The hotel pitches itself as a resort for sports/active guests, but charges guests 800 KSH a day for use of gym facilities. I understand for yoga, water sports, or if you want to make use of a trainer but find it very unusual for guest to pay an additional fee for simply accessing the gym.

The location is beautiful and staff were very friendly. Rooms and general ambiance is great.

The food quality and options should be improved in the buffet for all meals. There was not many options and it didn’t look well done nor fresh. All plates were broken at the buffet. The matress in the rooms could also be more comfortable and the rooms could have more natural light

Half board dinner and breakfast options had to be eaten in the main resturant. There was no atmosphere sadly and very limited vegan options. No vegan starter and dessert options.

The seaside bar is incredible!! The most perfect place to relax with good food (some Vegan options) and drinks. The swimming pools is wonderful and so is the additional beach. The bedroom was beautiful. Bed was relatively comfy.

Monkeys in the open roof running on dusty rails right above the buffet food is hygienically not great and made us abstain from not covered dishes. And our room did not have all the items mentioned on the list of booking.com such as hairdryer or tv

Our unit had no water for about 12 hrs for each of the 2 evenings we were booked but management provided access to other rooms with water. Broken hair dryer. No in-room deposit safe. The Lighthouse restaurant has posted very offensive language at the entrance (aka sexual cursing of your mother). Why? This is not funny and certainly very offensive in Kenya. Please remove it.
