Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Bosnia and HerzegovinaIt is possible that you get a room that has no bathroom, and then you have to pass through other room to reach it, or if you are staying in that room, people could be passing through your room to the toilet. However, you have a separate bathroom and a toilet downstairs if you or the owner of the other room do not prefer to use that one. But everything was really great, this was the thing that did not bother us, but might be a problem to someone else.
This accomodation is great! The grandma owner is really sweet, her son is also very kind and his English is great so the communication was easy. It is a great, warm, atmosphere, with a lovely home made breakfast. I had a feeling that I was staying at my grandma’s house in countryside.

Helpful owner spoke very good english. Situated in a quiet section of town. Near Lenin street with a few restaurants, a 24/7 supermarket and even a spot for some cold beers (near Suyumbaev street)

FranceWhen all the rooms are occupied, the hotel can feel a bit small: the breakfast room is very small so you might need to wait for the previous group to finish. I think that with the shared bathroom it would have been quite a wait as well.
We were upgraded to a room with a private bathroom. Everything in the hotel is very clean, the room and bathroom are tidy and spacious. Oybek is friendly and gave us useful tips, his mother is kind. The breakfast is good and generous.

IsraelWe made a reservation on Booking.com. When my husband arrived he was told that the order not exist and the price was 10 dollars higher. They also took another 1.5 dollars for Wi-Fi when it was specifically written in the order that Wi-Fi was included. He was also told that breakfast was not included when it was specifically stated in the order that breakfast was included. They also did not give a receipt for the payment and deleted our order in booking. When my husband arrived, I called Booking and they checked and said that the reservation existed, but in Astoria they were not ready to hear about it and deal directly with Booking.

ParaguayWe had to go through a hall to get to our "private" bathroom. Our room door didn't close completely. So we heard a lot what was going on in the hall. And from outside also people could hear was going on in the room or even see us. The bathroom floor was completely full of water when we took a shower and wasn't hot enough.
The size of the room was great and breakfast was generous.
