Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaDoor and window access was problematic. Old locks were hard at times. Fans were inoperable, but aircon made up for this. Stairs were a bit daunting, especially at the end of a long day. First world problems though.
Pleasant surroundings in a retro style building reminiscent of French colonial architecture in a beautiful setting. Quaint lofts could accommodate several people. Great for small groups or family. Main room was vast space.

AustraliaCould do with some maintenance, eg my toilet didn't have a lid, the furniture doors were wonky and difficult to open. At night, there was loud music from the neighbouring hotel.
La Villa oozes style. The large salt water pool is one of the best I've ever come across in a hotel. The breakfast is good.

IsraelIt needs maintenance in the bathroom (eg leaking toilet) and paintwork in the bedroom.
It was a really stunning old 1930s villa with all the original furniture and fittings- even the light switches! Our bedroom was huge and absolutely beautiful. It felt like more of a home than a hotel, the pool was lovely and we had it all to ourselves, the food (breakfast and simple lunches) was the best we’ve had in all the hotels we’ve stayed in in Cambodia, being home cooked by amazing cooks. The staff (particularly front desk) were lovely and very helpful

CambodiaThe new wing have walk in showers but I had a tub with a shower head and the tub is a bit high off the floor. If you have mobility issues you would not want to be in this room.
Had a lovely room in the original building of the Villa. Room decor was lovely - four poster bed, antique furniture. Very nicely restored. Very good location on the river and easily walkable to town.

United KingdomOnly one downside the room we were given on arrival wasn't overlooking the pool or garden as booked - we were told the hotel was fully booked - but I had booked a couple of weeks before and we saw people arrive after us so not sure why we were selected for the less attractive room- we were offered a better room the next day but as we were only there for one night it was not worth moving.
Great staff good breakfast charming French Colonial Indochine style hotel the manager arranged a great tuk tuk tour with Mr Tin Tin who was very informative and a great guide they also arranged a taxi back to Siem reap airport for a good price - they don't take commission on the activities they organise so the drivers or guides get all the money which is very honorable

IrelandThere is no safety deposit box in the room. Breakfast was disappointing considering the price per night - US $59. Have stayed in cheaper hotels in Siem Reap with far better breakfasts. Door into bedroom very shabby . Could do with being painted. The shower room had 3 cement walls. Very cheap /disappoining . Should have tiling. The toilet is very, very small & separate from the shower. There are swinging double doors into it. I found the doors VERY cumbersome. There is no similar hotel in Battambang with such a wonderful atmosphere. However, I expected the hotel to be perfect given the price paid... and it wasn't.
Stayed 2 nights - 18/02/24 & 19/02/2024. Gorgeous small boutique hotel in a French villa. A strong colonial feel to it. I think it was built in 1933. A lot of the fittings from that time are still there. God, the switches for the fan back then were enormous! Absolutely loved the atmosphere. It's a really chill out place. A unique door into my bedroom. (See photo.) High four poster bed with great hardish mattress. It's a little bit difficult to get up onto the bed but great in the morning when getting out of bed. Lovely swimming pool. The guy at reception was really nice and helpful. He spoke very good English. Paper lining in waste paper basket. All the other hotels I have stayed in bar one have plastic bags as bin liners, which take centuries to degrade.

United StatesLike most properties, I think it still is trying to come back after covid. Some parts of the physical property were in disuse and not cleaned like the lounge chair cushions etc. the staff is very pleasant but when you’re at the pool, they don’t think to see if you need anything like drinks or food. Just basic inattentiveness which I find throughout SE Asia. I’m grateful for the on site laundry but it took 2 days and the price is higher than outside the hotel.
It’s a lovely old villa with lots of character. The breakfast is great, the pool is a godsend and it’s quiet.

AustraliaI think it needs a bit of money spent on it - in my friend's room, for example, the ceiling fan doesn't work. And the bathrooms could do with upgrading. I got the floor all wet using the hand-held shower over the bath! More modern showers would be good. And - not the hotel's fault - but there was a fiesta-type evening event running during our stay - apparently this year it was from Christmas through to New Year's eve. That meant huge street noise! Blaring awful music from a nearby stage. Plus the food and other stalls blocked the view of the river which was a shame as the whole point of La Villa is that it overlooks the river at the front!
Loved the overall feel of La Villa - spacious, stylish and reminiscent of a bygone era. Comfy bed - and very spacious room. Nice pool and outdoor dining area - good food even though not a huge choice. What we did have was well done and tasty.
