Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThis is no fault of the owners, but just a tip when booking. I had made the mistake of booking a 'fan-only' room as I didn't always use the AC in other places on my travels. I didn't ask to change rooms as I was only there for two nights. Cambodia in January is too hot for a 'fan-only' and the temperature doesn't drop much at night so the heat in the room just keeps on building. There was a door that opened out onto the balcony, which is good for fresh air, but not really for cooling down the room.
The family who run the guesthouse were very welcoming and helpful. They were able to book transport for me to get to Phnom Penh as well. The room facilities were good, and it was comfortable aside from the temperature. The location of the property was excellent. Very central, and easy distance to a lot of popular places.

United Kingdomthe wi-fi and electricity cut out a lot, not sure if this was common or just something going on while we were there but we stayed 5 nights and had problems the whole time.
Great place, really welcoming family and staff around, comfy rooms, great pool and common area and good location just 10 min walk to night markets and there’s good restaurants on the street. They also have a tuktuk driver you can book angkor wat with he was really good.

GermanyNothing to complain about. :)
Well located, very kind and helpful staff. Nice pool. Great value for money. Recommend getting a room with AC since temperatures in Siem Reap tend to be very high. Thanks for everything, I've enjoyed my stay at Smiley's 🙏🏻.

Poland-
Comfortable, clean rooms. Good location - on a quiet street, but with some nice places to eat, within walking distance to bigger markets and also quite close to main road connecting Siem Reap to Angkor temples. A big shout out to the manager (and other staff as well) - he was exceptionally helpful with arranging everything for us: tuk-tuk for Angkor sightseeing, driver to see Koh Ker temples and everything else. The swimming pool is a nice addition - great refreshment for the body after whole day of discovering Angkor.

NetherlandsNothing, according to price/quality ratio.
The staff at the hotel were friendly and accommodating, which added to the positive experience. The hotel itself was clean and quiet, providing a comfortable environment for relaxation. Its location in the city center was convenient for exploring and accessing various amenities. Considering the quality of service and facilities, the hotel offers a good price-quality ratio. It is a value-for-money option for those seeking a well-located accommodation without breaking the bank. I would highly recommend this hotel to others who are looking for a comfortable and affordable stay. Overall, my experience at this hotel was highly satisfactory, and I would definitely consider staying here again in the future.

PortugalI couldn’t sleep after 6AM/7AM. There are kids screaming and many people speaking really loud, every morning. It’s a complete circus. Horrible, really. Be aware that budget single room doesn’t have hot water. If you want hot water, you should get a double/twin room.
good location, very nice staff, big size room after room changing (see cons). Really enjoyed this place.

SpainNothing to say
Very well located, close to city center and pub street within walking distance (10 min). Excellent restaurants with local food across the street. Staff very friendly and helpful. Despite the heat and humidity, the ceiling fans were sufficient. We stayed for a week with 3 children and everything was great. We highly recommend the place.

Excellent service in terms of information regarding visiting Angkor Wat temple complex, efficient tuk tuk services for the visit as well as airport drop. Great location thirty minutes by tuktuk to the Angkor Wat temple complex and just a ten minute walking distance to Pub Street ,a great value for money. Smiley's Guesthouse lives up to its name with smiling efficient people in the manager Keo Sopheap and his beautiful better half Vannin,Sokha is a beacon of happiness at the reception and my dear Mr. Phrom Oun who over a span of three days took me to all the temples and dropped me off to the airport.
