Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We had a great time in Sokcho. The owners that ran the place were very friendly and gave us some helpful tips on the best things to do in the area. We enjoyed the rooftop and the accommodations location was great, a short walk to the beach. There were a few restaurants/convenience stores within walking distance. The room was all you needed to have a comfortable nights rest.

NetherlandsVery friendly staff with tips about what to do and which hike to do in seoraksan national park. On the day of we even got a bag of fruit to take with us on the hike. The day we were leaving we got a ride to the bus station. The price-quality was good, the room was basic but all the necessary things were available (eg fridge for every floor, shower amenities, even tooth paste). The mattress and pillows were comfortable.

South KoreaI have no suggestions.
The owners were so kind, the rooms are cozy and charming, the location is very good (quiet but close to the beach... with the door open you can hear the waves), hotel is stocked with anything you could need or want, their dog is so precious, and the rooftop terrace is a great feature. Thank you for everything! I will stay again.

South KoreaThere is a dog at the property who stays in the communal areas - it didn't bother my group but if you had allergies you may have to take this into consideration.
The property was in a fantastic location - less than 7 minutes walk to the nearest beach "Oeongchi" which had a swimming area, toilets and umbrellas. Inside the hostel, the bedroom was very large and clean. The small balcony had a clothing rack which was great to use after the beach to dry our swimming gear. The beds were very comfortable, medium soft mattresses. Each bed had privacy curtains around it and a reading light. The room had great aircon and a small dressing table with mirror. There was also a clothes rail with hangers inside the room. The bathroom was a more traditional wet-style bathroom, the shower was not enclosed. There was shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste and hand soap available. The owners were fantastic, very friendly people. They circled some areas on the map that we could eat at. Breakfast was self-service instant ramyeon and coffee. Near the guesthouse there was a convenience store and within a 20 minute walk there were many restaurants and a bustling area. The rooftop was a highlight of this guesthouse - it was fantastic to grab some drinks and sit on the picnic tables on the roof in the late evening.

MalaysiaThe husband and wife owners are really warm and welcoming! They are friendly and able to communicate well with us. It was a very comfortable stay that we feel regretful to only stay one night there. The location is really close to the beach so you can enjoy the morning or night walks and even catch the beautiful sunrise from the East Sea. Recommended stay!

SingaporeWent on a weekday (I DO NOT Recommend, go with FRIENDS :")))))) can totally imagine that this place will be vibing on a weekend! It was super quiet on my floor and on my way back since I was alone so perhaps not the best for a solo female traveler to come on a weekday! Also the terminal is a good 20 min walk away so yeah FYI!
Couple was super friendly, already missing Beri :( their cute dog! Room was cozy and they had more than sufficient facilities! They were really helpful with directions, was a pity that I had to give Seoraksan a miss (I will be back :D)

South KoreaA bit far from bus stops if you have to carry luggage.
The couple that runs The Blue Door are the nicest, most hospitable pair. Good English is spoken. Very kind and accommodating. Their dog Barry, a very friendly black lab, is an extra attraction. The location near the beach and near the Sokcho boardwalk is great. My single room was big enough for one person and very clean and comfortable.

United KingdomSuch a welcoming guest house. Whilst I was hoping for a property filled with other hikers so we could discuss our Seoraksan plans, it didn't quite deliver on this (mid May is when the park starts to reopen after fire risks so we hadn't quite nailed our timing...!), BUT the owner was very friendly, helpful, spoke great English, and has a lovely dog. Parking was easy. The location was great for getting to Seoraksan but also for getting to the seafront, restaurants and our favourite craft beer place, Mont. We also had a really nice chilled evening sitting on the roof of the property with some beers and snacks, looking at the view. And the owners gave us some much appreciated apples as we left 😍 overall would recommend!
