How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Junny was so welcoming. She took the time to give us a lot of tips about the area. The location of the guesthouse was perfect. The room was clean and confortable. It was a nice stay!

Our stay was wonderful! Junny went above and beyond for us on our stay and was always there to help us out. Location was wonderful. All round exceptional experience I would absolutely come back!

We weren’t sure if there was an option for double bed but we were in 2 single beds.
The property was basic but very clean. We were welcomed by Junny - a great host. She was very helpful, especially with recommendations for the area. The guesthouse had a communal area with a kitchen and dining space.

It is quite basic, bus very clean and functional. I liked the fact that you need to remove your shoes at the entrance. Less germs inside the property. The location is excellent for the historical sites visiting. The owners are super helpful.

Everything was good.. maybe an extra pillow for some people.
Fabulous friendly host who offered lots of valuable information. Helped us with translating for tourist attractions and bus/taxi/trains. Very comfortable beds. Breakfast was included (cook your own eggs & toast - also with juice). Good location .. walking distance to Observatory & short taxi ride to Palace. I would definitely recommend Hwarang Guesthouse to friends.

Jenny is the best host ever. She gave us so many good advices and good tips and places To eat. The guesthouse is so clean and cute. Our stay was just perfect.

The bathroom is small so everything gets wet when you shower but that's pretty normal here.
We really enjoyed our stay at Hwarang Guesthouse! The host Junny took a lot of time to explain where all the sights were that we wanted to see and she marked all the spots on a map. She was always super helpful and kind. Breakfast is simple but good (toast, eggs, sandwich-cheese, jam, coffee and juice). Our room was clean and the towels were changed every day. The location of the hostel is great since you can walk to almost all tourist attractions (you have to take a bus to go to the main temple but Junny will give you the bus schedules for that). Would definitely come here again

Hwarang is simple, clean, and comfortable. The location is excellent. And the best thing is that the host, Junny, is so helpful and friendly. She really cares for you to have a great experience in Gyeongju, and offers much advice for getting around and seeing the things that this city has to offer!!! Thank you!!! When I return to Gyeongju I will definately come back to this guesthouse! Ps. I only spent one night in Gyeongju, but I quickly realised there is much beauty here. I would recommend 2-3 nights at least.

The hosts, Junny and her husband, are amazing. Junny is very available and takes good care of you. I was sick during my stay (bad case of the flu) and since I don’t speak Korean she accompanied me to the doctor and helped me get the meds that were prescribed to me. (Thanks again Junny 💜) The main areas and my room were perfectly clean and I liked the atmosphere of the guesthouse. I would definitely stay there again. It’s also well connected to the different sights in Gyeongju and to the bus stops for Bulguksa.

Everything was fine. If I had to add something I would recommend to improve the breakfast variety including milk .

Limited breakfast options (bread, jam, eggs, ham, tea and coffee) especially for people allergic to eggs. No butter or milk but these are readily available at local convenience stores if you need them.
Good size twin room with very comfortable beds. Guest house is clean and well run with large communal seating area. Access to a fridge, hour water and microwave . Good location close to buses, market, tourist area. Would definitely stay again and recommend.
