Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Canadait wasn’t stated how many bunks were there in the room, I was surprised when I got there and saw that there were like more than 20 bunks. it was still pretty decent and quiet. it’s an uphill way to the guesthouse so just be aware if you have many bags.
the Namsan view from the rooftop as well as the location. so close to the metro and the main street of Myeong-dong as well as the many restaurants and store

United StatesI didn't like that it wasn't soundproof. You may hear people having sex from other room which is kinda of awkward if you're with family....
What stood out to me about Namsan Guesthouse was that there was a kitchen for you to use. It had free bread and instant noodles. The kitchen in the basement is spacious and you can hang out or eat there. There was also free laundry machine to use by yourself and if you want to use dryer, you can pay for it to use. I've been to many accomodations and this is my first time seeing all of this stuff offered together in one place. I also appreciate how helpful and welcoming the owner is. There is also a nice rooftop where you can spot the N Seoul Tower.

-clean enough, acceptable price -electric locker, very safe. Big enough to keep all my luggage. -bread & instant noodle cup available 24h (1 noodle cup 1 day) -helpful reception

FranceIt was a unique experience to use shower without any borders at all above the toilet. We are not sure that it was pleasant.
The room was clean, a bit smaller, than we thought, but enough. Breakfasts are alright, bread with jam and noodles available all day. The atmosphere in the hostel is quiet and comfortable The location is convenient, close to Seoul central railway station and Myeongdon and very close to Namsan cable car. The rooftop is the pearl in the crown of this hostel. We spent wonderful time there.

IcelandThe room didn't have a dedicated shower which was placed above the toilet. There was not much natural light and small windows.
The place had a really good location on a quiet street. It was only 5-10min walking to Myeongdong shopping district. A lot of food options nearby.

FinlandThe room wasn't really as clean as I would've liked. Dust under the beds, weird splatter on the ceilings, random spots on walls, more splatter/some kind of stains on bedframes. The toilet silicone was all black, maybe mold. Towel rack in the bathroom had rust on it. You also have to throw your toilet paper into a trash bin, but that is common in a lot of places in Korea. I have stayed in much more clean hostels before in Europe for around the same price and if you add just a little bit of money into your budget, you are able to get a real hotel in Seoul instead of a hostel.
The owner is really friendly and really does everything to keep the guests happy. The location is absolutely perfect, takes only about 5 minutes to walk to the Myeongdong metro station. If I was going to Seoul again and had a tighter budget, I would consider staying here again.

United KingdomNot a great range of choices for the included breakfast (but still ok) The bathroom was a bit awkwardly arranged (water from the shower will reach everything!) Body washa Nd shampoo are in special dispenser, so you cannot see what it is (can be annoying for smell or ingredients if you have allergies I guess) Nothing to do with the hostel itself, but remember it is up the hill, so you will have a climb a bit! :)
The location is very central with the great view of namsan tower from the roof top Host was super nice and very helpful, especially on arrival We were able to leave our bags at the hostel after checkout time Place was very clean Water fountain in the kitchen, so no need to buy water bottles We didn't use it, but they have a washing machine for guests to use

MalaysiaIt was my first time living in a dormitory, not really used to it due to poor soundproof, so not recommended if you value personal space.
Clean bed, bathroom and public area. I like the way they provide facilities like water dispenser, oven and weighing machine at the public area. You may place your luggage temporarily at the public area after check out too!

KazakhstanThe room was really small for the two but it was ok for us. Mind that if the guests are too big there might be a problem to move around. plus the luggage - nowhere to unpack the things.
The host was always in touch before our arrival and was ready to provide our room earlier when we arrived. He was also very helpful during our stay. He showed us around the facilities. The guesthouse is equipped with everything and really spacious including a huge kitchen area with washing machine, dryer and everything else and a top roof with a view on the hills and the Namsan Tower. A big plus is a lift to each level. The location is good, there is a direct bus from INC and then 800m up the street from bus station, subway is very close. The administrator is available from 11 am to 9pm so it is important to arrive within this time but after check-in it is very convenient that you can come at any time and access with a door code. Breakfast is toasts with butter and jam and a bowl of ramen every day. Drinking water is available.

FranceThe bathroom has 3 showers but one of them was missing a shelf for clothes and the water goes a bit back and forth between hot/really hot/cold temperature. At some point it got really dirty but the staff took care of it immediately (not the guesthouse fault though, just dirty people sleeping here...)
The kitchen was fully equipped with fridges, chairs, table, microwaves etc. which was really nice. The guesthouse is really close to the subway, the bus stops but also the main street where you can buy food and stuff but also really close to the Namsan tower (the view from the rooftop is amazing ! I spent hours up there !) The dormitory on the 5th floor has a lot of beds but people try to be as silent as possible which was nice. The bed was a bit firm though and my neck and back hurt a bit but you have enough space to lay down and sit. There are also lockers for big luggage. The man at the reception desk is really nice and helpful, he can speak several languages and always try to put you at ease. He even suggested we all drink together, play guitar and sing, it was a really fun night. Thank you ! I will be back !

AustraliaMattress was not super comfortable and room was small. Overall, the hostel was worth what I paid and still better than some hostels I've seen in other countries. Just don't expect a 5-star hotel, but most people know that already.
Central location, walking distance to nearby attractions and metro. Rooftop terrace and communal areas were good. Staff were communicative regarding check in details. I'd stay again.
