Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsNice location with good connections. The host, Judith, is very helpful (e.g. booking tickets for me when that didn’t work in Klook); and she has lots of tips and advice. Upon arriving I was showered with information about places to visit and how to get there. Recommended.

AustraliaWe loved our stay here. Judith has created such a warm and inviting atmosphere at Sokcho & Guesthouse, which seems to be infectious as all the guests were very open and friendly to each other. Great recommendations on what to do, and a feeling that she really cares about her guests. Walking distance to the market, and we were very warmly received at the Korean BBQ restaurant she recommended. Would give Judith and Sokcho & Guesthouse 12/10 if we could!! :)

IsraelThere is nothing to dislike. It's perfect.
After reading all the reviews we were really excited about the guest house and meeting the owner, Judith. It didn't disappoint in the least. The guesthouse is very convenient for buses and the market. It was spotlessly clean, and Judith couldn't do enough to help us during our stay. Would definitely return if we visit Sokcho again. Judith even helped us purchase bus tickets from Seoul and back. We couldn't find tickets online at the times she found.

AustraliaA chill, friendly place run by an English-speaking Korean family. They have all the local information (attractions, bus times, etc.) on the wall ready to go, and took me through it when I arrived. It was pretty quiet when I was there, and the host went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed.

The host Judith is warm, hospitable friendly and very helpful. My stay was the most memorable during my trip in South Korea. Highly recommended. This place is strategically located in front of Sokcho Tourist Market and busses to Yangyang, Seoraksan National Park and Naksana Temple.

ThailandEverything was good.
Judith the host is wonderful, and is happy to provide information that will make your stay in Sokcho more enjoyable. Her food recommendations were brilliant. The location is great, and we were able to walk easily to the market as well as to convenient bus stops. The guesthouse is not far away (perhaps a 10 mins walk) from the Intercity Bus Station in Sokcho. Breakfast is simple but good (tea, coffee, eggs toast, homemade jam). The place is very clean, and our room also had an air filter that we used when the outside air quality was bad. Will definitely return to this same Guesthouse in the future. Thanks Judith for everything !

FranceSmall nitpicks that don’t change my rating: each room has a toilet/shower. I prefer when they’re not in the room to avoid having to wait or disturbing other guests if they’re sleeping
The beds were comfortable, the toilets were clean and the shower pressure was good. Good location: close to the intercity bus station, city bus stop, fish market, lake. The breakfast was excellent featuring homemade strawberry jam. The hostel itself has a large common dining area, and the pictures are accurate. And the hostel owner is an absolute pleasure, giving off a homey vibe. She gives good suggestions of tourist attractions and how to get there and can book a bus ticket online for you if needed

ThailandNothing.
Everything. The guesthouse is located adjacent to seaport so you can feel and smell the sea breeze, also it is only walking distance to open markets that sells everything you need. The guesthouse is very hommy and the owner is very friendly and can speaks few languages fluently (Chinese, English, Indonesian...). I recommend to choose family room with sea view if you travel with 4-5 people. Big room, seaport view with seagulls chirping sound every morning. There is also recommended seafood restaurant at around 200 m back of the hotel, but you need to come before closing time at 8.15 pm. Will definitely stay in this guesthouse if we go back to Sokcho.
