Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanThe lounge downstairs was pretty cold, so we chose to spend more time in our room.
The breakfast buffet had plenty of options and we had free access to a water purifier and coffee. Upon arrival we got very thorough instructions, regarding the hostel itself and also hiking around the area. The floor heating was cozy after hiking in the rain, even though it got a bit too warm at times. There was the option to order dinner at a flexible time.

United StatesSo close to the park entrance! (About a 30 min walk to the park or there is a bus you could ride too.) We enjoyed our breakfast. The property was clean and safe and the staff was so helpful and friendly.

SingaporeThe hotel did seem a little old and the rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. It was nicely heated and there’s hot water for showers as well. There’s a water dispenser at the common area so I didn’t have to buy mineral water from the stores. The hotel is located just 2mins walk away from the bus stop and 2 stops away from the Seoraksan Park entrance but the buses don’t seem to run very frequently so I ended up walking to and fro which only took about 20mins. The owners of the hotel is what made the stay an excellent one because they were sooooo friendly and helpful, answering all my questions and also feeding me sweet potatos everyday which were delicious! And the hotel is near quite a few restaurants, a 7-11 and a cafe called cafe bimildan which was awesome

South KoreaThe bed was not super comfortable but ok. The food service was basic but ok. Food options near The Red House are extremely limited.
The proprietor was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to help us on a couple of occasions. Very friendly and accommodating. The shower water pressure was good. The room was basic but fine.

AustraliaBed was uncomfortable. Room was very spartan and interior decoration was grim. But you’re not going here to hang around in the room, are you?
Great location near the national park. The place has lots of quirk and character and the owners are kind and accomodating. The owner also has an insane graphic novel collection if that’s your thing.

South KoreaVery hospitable innkeeper, providing much information in English about the visiting route in the national park. The accommodation offered me two comfortable nights in an extremely quiet surrounding area, and as other guests already have mentioned, the breakfast is tasty and well balanced in nutrition. The red house is just ahead the entrance of the national park, facing a stunning view of mountain, and only cost me 25min walking to the mountain foot (with an additional option to take bus).

GermanyOur room had all the essentials but could need some renovation. It was also quite dark, which maybe contributed to making it seem less clean (though there were no visible traces of dirt). A night light would definitely come in handy. Breakfast was provided but not really our taste (American toast with small plastic spreads and fried egg as well as some Korean dishes).
We stayed for three nights in total and were really happy with our room and the service. The owners are super nice and helpful and the hotel is very well equipped. There are several water machines for hot and cold water, a microwave, washing machine and dryer, and air condition in the room, which was an essential in summer. The location was great for us. Easy to reach by public transport and walkable distance to the national park. All in all a very good experience!

CanadaNothing major but hotel needs a general make over. Still, it is economic and its location is unbeatable for hiking.
Man at the reception was exceptionally kind and helpful, efficient and clear. Woman at the cafe provided a basic but good breakfast, was also kind and very helpful. There are restaurants nearby and a well provided convenience store. It's right at the entrance of the national park.

NetherlandsThe interior, as mentioned by other travellers, is very oudated. It has a of a shabby atmosphere. The room was clean but there are spots here and there that give a ln unpleasant look. There was an afwul smell in the hallway on the 1st floor, during the whole stay. Not in the room itself. Breakfast good but simple. The bed was hard and so was the pillow. We slept well though.
The location is good when you want to be in the national park early. Which is a good idea on a hot day or in high season. We were in July , low season, and it was not crowded at all. Its a short stroll from the busstop but uphill so with suitcases challenging. 1 Restaurant closes at 5pm, other at 7pm. Veggie hard to get. 7-11 has basic options and microwave, hot water to prepare your meal. The area has a bit of a tropical climate. Friendly couple that run the place. The room was basic but enough space for 2 suitcases and we slep well

United StatesIt is old and cluttered but the pros outweigh the cons. Also, only one restaurant open for dinner within walking distance to the hotel. But the restaurant is Korean BBQ and the staff are so nice! You can eat dinner (BBQ) outside under the night sky. what an experience!
Location and owners were exceptional. The value of the rooms is exceptional. The hotel is a less than 5 minute bus ride to the entrance of Seoraksan National Park. The owner will give you exact details as to how to ride the bus in addition to anything else you need to know. Bus stop is very near the hotel. 7-11 is very close to the hotel. You can get most essentials here. The cost of the hotel is cheap in a good way!

RussiaThe area around has a bit of a "ghost town" vibe. Empty buildings, very few people. It's charming in a way, but it's a bit sad that such a beautiful place is not flourishing as much as it should. The hotel itself is also a bit old. The rooms are very well maintained and clean though.
The surroundings of the place are just magical! The owners have a cafe in the second building that works only for dinners. The interior of that place is straight out of a movie! It's a two-storey library (ground floor and first floor) and within it there's like a separate building (building within a building), which is a cafe. We went there just because we were too tired to go far from the hotel and we were completely blown away by the magic of that place. Definitely check it out! It's not far away from the entrance to the Seoraksan Mountains, walkable distance. It's like a warm-up before hiking trails) The owner gave us the map and explained all the routes, the time they take, how do they differ between each other and helped us plan our time in the mountains in the best way possible. That was tremendously helpful!

Very helpful and welcoming staff. The room was basic but had everything we needed. Nice outside area with beautiful view and picnic tables. 25mins walk to Seoraksan NP. The owner explained all the routes we could walk in the park. The hotel also has a small cafe which opens 7-10pm for dinner.
