Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesRoom got a little stuffy at night but three is an air conditioner and that helped.
Fantastic location close to beautiful historic sites and many lovely cafes and restaurants. Ikseondong is a really cool area and comes alive at night. Felt safe waking around alone at night. Staff were super friendly. Very thankful to Tommy and Nicolas for the hospitality! Bathroom was very clean, bed had nice privacy shades and plenty of storage space. This hostel is very cute inside!

United KingdomOur room would benefit from some hooks on the wall.
OK the rooms are as small as in the photos but this is a lovely place. The owner Tommy tries to introduce himself to all guests and the French young man at breakfast is multi lingual and really quite charmingly unassuming. Breakfast was the best we’ve had so far - coffee good, milk and juice, toast and cereal. Good value

The place was amazing. The staff was very friendly; we even met Tommy. The beds were comfy. The place was right next to a 7-11, and there were also a lot of restaurants in the area. I would highly recommend it.

United KingdomI loved everything about Hostel Tommy. The room was a good size, very clean and comfortable. The hostel also has a cute common area with sofas, games, water refill, kitchen etc. The hostel also has laundry facilities and a terrace. Strong wifi all over too. Tommy, the owner is one of the loveliest gentlemen I have ever met in my life. He is so friendly and sweet. He took care of me really well on my last day even AFTER I checked out as I felt unwell. It touched my heart. I feel he is my Korean Uncle. I 100% recommend every traveller to book a stay here.

RussiaOne of the best hostels I ever stayed. Female from with 6 beds and private bathroom during peak season of cherry blossom. First of all, the room is has space! Not only there are enough space for everyone’s bags, but also hangers and shelves. Hairdryer in the room. Hot water, good bathroom. Breakfast is also great! The terrace and laundry is a big bonus. I don’t know what place can be better in Seoul. I took bus 6011 from the airport for 17.000 KRW and walk to the hostel 5 minutes, like it better than a busy train for 10.000 KRW with line changing. There are fast wifi at the hostel and almost everywhere in the city, so I didn’t buy a simcard and felt ok. All you need is T-money transportation card. Money exchange located near metro station, 3 minutes walk. Plenty of food and shops are around.

AustraliaI'd recommend a private room if you don't mind paying a little more, esp for the privacy. I think curtains instead of blinds work better for the dorm beds (less noise when you want to get up in the middle of the night for a dash to the bathroom!) so I'd recommend that be changed.
This is an awesome hostel for the price and especially for the location - it's walking distance to the palaces, bukchon village, the subway (this is crucial!!!) and there's a convenience store right next door. Opposite the hostel is also an incredible food scene within the neighborhoods alleyways. The staff were so welcoming too, and the checking in process is super duper easy! I arrived at 11pm and was able to do a quick self check-in which I was glad for after my long day on the plane. I stayed in the womens-only dorm when I was here. Next time, I plan on getting a private room!

MalaysiaIf you have huge luggage 🧳, the staircase will pose a problem especially if you're alone. I highly recommend using a travellers backpack 🎒. But it's not impossible to lug the luggage up. It's just a bit tiresome. If you're lucky, Tommy will be there in person to help you out! If you checked in late after 9pm like we did, we had quite a time with our luggage. The washer and dryer has a weird time frame of 4pm to 10pm. I understand that they may be noisy to use after 10pm but I'm unsure why we couldn't use it in the morning. But hey, we're on a short trip where we go out everyday so, obviously we couldn't find the time to do our laundry. But for travellers who stay for a longer time, they're very useful!
Everything! The bed is comfortable, the room is spacious enough for us to open up two big pieces of luggage and still have space to walk around. I asked for an extra blanket before arrival and it was there when I arrived! So happy! The bathroom is clean and impeccable. There's a shower curtain that separates the sink+showerhead area from the toilet. That way we can at least make sure our clothes and towels won't get hit by the shower when it's in use. There's a towel holder above the toilet and two hooks behind the door for extra towel holding space. They only provided two hangers but when I asked Tommy for two more, he generously passed them to me without questions. There's a dressing table with a mirror by the leg of the bed plus a mini refrigerator under it. You have to plug in the fridge to use it. By the entrance, there is a mirror, a small wall-table and a hair dryer. It can also serve as a dressing table obviously. There's another small bedside table for us to peruse too. There's definitely more than enough space and mirrors for two ladies in the room. Tommy is also a great host who provides good advice on places to go and whatnot. I wish I had more time to communicate with him so I could learn more and perhaps get more recommendations from him. I only went for the breakfast once throughout my stay and it's fine as it is. There's two different cereals with milk and orange juice. There are two coffee brewers, and they finish very fast so you might have to make a new pot if necessary . Three toasters and bread slices. Eggs aren't provided, if I'm not wrong, but you can buy your own and use their pans and kitchen tools to cook them. The fridge is also very big and you can leave your groceries in them with stickers provided for you to write down your room number. The roof top is a nice place for you to relax and have a smoke if you want. The hammock was my haven for those few nights I was there.

United StatesThe one thing that I would remark is that the bathroom felt damp. This is by no means a deal breaker, but just something to consider.
Location was exceptional. Walking distance to a lot of different attractions (restaurants, bars, historic sites, metro) and, importantly, the airport bus shuttle. Wifi worked great. Met Mr Tommy himself, and he was a wonderful host. I would definitely stay here again.
