Lao cash for everything (a general Laos thing), some distance from town (but free transport options are available). No milk or sugar for the breakfast coffee (?!).

Resort style, feels very high end, nice staff who are attentive and helpful, gorgeous rooms and pool. Food is very good, cocktails superb.

It was quite far outside of town, 10 minute drive, wouldn’t be able to walk in the heat!

Fantastic hotel, great value for money. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with a nice bathroom. Pool was well maintained and the food was amazing. Definitely recommend.

No dishes and cutlery in the room. No soundproofing. A bed could be more soft.

Spacious room. Amazing bathroom. All stylish and fresh. Nice views. Good location if you rent a scooter.

Internet was slower than anticipated so I used my mobile data I bought at the airport.

It's a brand new complex with well kept gardens and a great adjacent breakfast area. The room had a nice balcony, desk area and overhead fan. Te bathroom had a new (to me) style tap system that worked well. Full set of shampoo dispensers so no fiddly plastic packets required. Breakfast was varied, well provisioned and as much as you like. Lovely helpful welcome from the staff at all times. Free bicycle use, again all new stock Scooter rental was actually documented, the bike a newish Honda click had medium sized wheels which was fine visiting the fall and 100k lak a day cheaper than best 2 day quote I got in town 7 minutes to the airport 12 minutes by bicycle to the night market Close to the paper making, silk weaving shop and carving and wood work shops.

Maybe another pool as it tends to be really busy. There is also noise from the construction right next to the property. Guests should be informed as it's not easy to take an afternoon nap with the bulldozer sound.

The staff, the breakfast with local delicacies and the laid back atmosphere makes it easier to socialize with other guests.

A little bit dusty due to building next door which was out with the control of the hotel

We loved the location of the Madilao hotel as it was close enough to the town yet far enough away to feel part of the more rural community. The hotel and grounds were so well kept with a great pool. The staff were all so friendly and the food was lovely. A great great holiday.

Cash only payment - no card facilities. We were not made aware of this until arrival and no ATM facilities nearby so had to wait until I went into town. Breakfast was fine but cold, even when you get there early. Wish the bus into town ran more often, as little around hotel to do.

Lovely pool and views from our balcony. Courtesy Shuttle bus available at 5pm every day to bring people into town.

It is quite far from the city centre so you need scooter (which you need anyways if you want to visit places around) but it is annoying that to thwart city centre you need to go through a wobbly bridge. They also have free tuk-tuk service which goes to and from city at 5pm and 9pm

Very nice hotel, it felt very new. Very good big beds. We slept super good in this hotel as you cannot hear your neighbours or any other noises. Clean showers and towels and pretty good breakfast. Also the pool was nice, not too crowded even though we stayed during the quieter season

Location is not very central. Bikes provided are good - albeit a bit small - but after 6pm the streets around get very dark, so just be mindful of that. (there is a shuttle service though.! It leaves at 5pm and gets back at 9pm).

The setting is very well maintained, spacious and clean. Pool is lovely. Staff is very helpful and kind. Rooms are super comfy and biggest bed i’ve ever slept on.! Breakfast is good.

For some, the only minus may be the location, quite far from the city center, but we knew that before we went there. However, the hotel offers bicycle/motorcycle rental and a shuttle to the city center once a day.

The hotel is very neat and clean. Breakfasts - in one word - delicious. The cozy atmosphere at the pool makes you want to stay there longer. It certainly deserves more than 3 stars.

Nothing. It is a bit out of town but we just hued a motorcycle and got out and about. Tuk Tuk ti town was about $5.50 US.

Spotlessly clean. Very new. Small, resort style with beautiful facilities and grounds. Lovely staff and excellent restaurant. They made mango sticky rice especially for us and it was amazing!

I was only there one night, but it seemed you needed to ride a bike or take a tuk-tuk to go anywhere. Walking didn't seem a great option.

I liked everything about it, room, staff, pool and restaurant. I would definitely stay there again

    Nothing

This is an exception hotel. The staff are brilliant, and extremely helpful. Breakfast, great menu, nice. After travelling Asia for a bit and seeing the excessive use everywhere this hotel has a free water fill bottle system in place which is great to see. Rooms and bed comfortable pool great. I give the location 4 out of 5 as it’s a bit of a walk to town but the hotel covered this with free bike and transfer service on the evening. It’s that good here we are coming back in 4 days 😂

There is nothing that I did not like but some things could be improved. They only accept cash and this should be stated on the booking website. They said they are working on credit cards. For those who want to go to town at other times of day they should increase the service and even charge a fee which would still be much cheaper than a tuk tuk which is 150000. Offering a few different shuttle stop points around the old town which is bigger than you expect would be great as well.

Great hotel for value. Super clean big room. It is a newer hotel with a beautiful pool and very reasonable priced restaurant. They provide a free shuttle at 5pm back at 9pm every day to the middle of the old town. Very friendly staff who speak english.

We stayed on a Sunday and were disappointed to learn that they don’t do food on Sunday nights.

We loved everything about the Madilao…it was just what we needed to wind up our Laos stay. Rooms were spacious, spotless quiet and comfortable. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfasts offered a good choice and served on the patio near the pool was a lovely touch. The pool was also very welcome, clean and cool. The shuttle into town in the evening was also welcome and they even organised a trip to the waterfall for us. They provide bikes for free use, which we didn’t use, but they looked in good condition. The ride share company Loca was cheap and easy to use for other times, such as the airport which is close by. Would we stay again? Yes!
