Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndonesiaNice place to stay. We have meeting also in this hotel. The staff is nice, the food is good but little bit pricey, the hotel is clean and the room is cleaned twice a day. I love the little touch like freshsener in the room. Good job, I would like to stay again if I have to oportunity to visit Vientiane.

AustraliaCut our access to internet the morning we were leaving despite we were there almost a full day. The hot water in the bathrooms were hard to control. You can get burnt if you are not careful. There was no variety in what was available for breakfast.
Great place to stay. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

SwitzerlandWe really liked everything about the hotel and our stay. The location was perfect for us - everything in walking distance but out of more noisy area. The breakfast was very good, and we very much enjoyed the pool and pool area, it is truly an oasis of calm. Would come back anytime.

LaosI did not like the white tops the male staff wear. They could be updated to something more contemporary . Maybe it is a period style to suit eta of hotel but it does not work The souvenirs for sale in the carbonates looked tired ! Also need to be updated to more interesting items. I was also disappointed with the fact that I had to change $ cash which they kindly did. However they were all badly marked and after I left hotel I could not use in Laos or Thailand. I thought this was not nice knowing that marked notes are not excepted. These were badly marked
Atmosphere, garden, helpful staff and wonderful room . Also love the location

United KingdomNot much - breakfast eggs were great but I'd look for better French bread, but that is small compared to the whole experience.
A beautiful building and so peaceful considering how close to main roads. Staff were lovely, the pool was bliss. The room was comfortable, spotless and calm. It's great for a treat of old style calm

AustraliaVery dark room, on road/ front entrance side. even in daytime had to switch on lights , so gloomy and one certainly didn’t want to spend anytime in it. Breakfast uninspiring, limited choice and biting insects if sitting in garden/pool area. Although staff very helpful and tried hard, there was limited information for a first time visitor to know where to go, and what to do and see, if one wanted to get out of Vientiane, even within it.
Old colonial style hotel, ideal for a short stay. , easy to walk to various restaurants

SwitzerlandWhile most aspects of the hotel were exemplary, the breakfast selection presented a slight disappointment. The lack of dark bread options, with only baguette and toast available, was a minor letdown. However, this was somewhat compensated by the excellent quality of their coffee and croissants, which was a delightful start to each morning.
My recent stay at the Settha Palace Hotel in Vientiane, Laos, was an experience steeped in comfort and convenience. Nestled in a prime location, the hotel stands as a testament to hospitality excellence, with a staff that exemplifies friendliness and accommodation. The junior suite, my home during the stay, was a delightful retreat. The bed was the epitome of comfort, ensuring restful nights after days of exploring the city. The bathroom, equipped with a strong and consistently hot water supply, added a touch of luxury to my daily routine. The standout feature, however, was the remarkable tranquility within the room. Despite the bustling activity outside, the room remained a quiet sanctuary, a feature greatly appreciated in any urban accommodation. The hotel's location deserves special mention. It’s ideally situated, making it a perfect base for exploring the vibrant city of Vientiane. Whether it was for business or leisure, I found its location to be incredibly convenient. In conclusion, Settha Palace Hotel is a remarkable choice for anyone visiting Vientiane. It blends comfort, tranquility, and excellent service, creating a memorable stay. The overall experience was so positive that I wouldn't hesitate to choose this hotel again for my next visit to Vientiane. Highly recommended for those seeking a peaceful and comfortable stay in the heart of the city.

DenmarkWorld class French colony-style hotel. Excellent location in a tropical garden with nice pool. Excellent food and a good breakfast buffet. Fantastic staff - very smiling and helpful. Different possibilities for massage. Can recommend head and shoulder massage. Hotel, restaurant and massage very much affordable. Staff very helpful when we had to visit Alliance Medical Center (also fantastic service and staff) after a fall. We were brought there by hotel staff and they assisted us all 2-hours we were there and brought safely back. Thanks a lot all at Settha Palace Hotel. We will definitely be back at Settha.

Settha Palace is a great surprise that such a historical building is just hidden in Vientiane's most centered area. Yet it keeps its quietness and privacy. The staff was awesome and friendly. The manager Saylohid was super helpful. I highly recommend this hotel for people looking for style, comfort and convenience.

United StatesThe Setta Palace is far and away the best hotel in Vientiane, and one of the best in Southeast Asia. The grounds are lovely, the rooms, the dining room, and other common areas have that classic, old luxury hotel feel. Yet the prices are competitive with the newer, sterile-feeling chain hotels now opening as the economy expands.
