Lovely hotel in a really quiet, beautiful location. My room and veranda overlooked the river. Wished I had stayed for more than 1 night. Great dining room, perfect for an evening meal and breakfast.

We went at the start of the rainy season so in the evening there were clouds in the sky and it rained. Great for the local farmers, however, not so great to see the sun set. This isn’t a complaint, just an observation.

The Sanctuary Lodge is located high on a hill overlooking the Mekong River. Our room offered an amazing advantage point to see the sunset and enjoy the quiet, beautiful location. The staff were very helpful offering, excellent service. The cocktails and food were also very good.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. We arrived on the slow boat and were picked up in a private tuk tuk and dropped back off the next day. We received a welcome drink which was amazing. The food at the restaurant was lovely. The view of the hotel was idyllic and the pool was perfect after travelling all day.

We booked this hotel to provide a bit of luxury during our 2 day slow boat trip to Luang Prabang, and I can say it certainly didn’t disappoint! The room was beautiful and massive! The view from the balcony overlooking the Mekong is incredible. Breakfast and dinner very good and the staff were so helpful. Overall a great stay.

The beds were not very comfortable and the set meals that were offered at dinner were rather boring and bland.

Set in a beautiful location overlooking the river and lovely garden plots the Sanctuary Pakbeng was our stopover during a two day boat cruise up the Mekong.The lodge itself is a lovely building. and the rooms all have balconies with great views.

The location and views of the Mekong is excellent and the Sanctuary is a wonderful place to stay. We chose it also because of the work it does with the local Laos community - a health clinic and services for people and support to the elephant sanctuary across the river. Lovely pool, lovely wood panelled rooms, smashing staff. Super!

The toilet in our room had a particularly bad smell from the waste pipe.

The hotel is beautiful but nowhere near as beautiful as the stunning view over the mekong, especially at sunset. The room was large and clean, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Great food at the hotel's restaurant and the cocktails were strong.

Welcome was poor at dock and same upon leaving. Difficult climb up the sandy bank from the boat. Porter would not carry my bags. Passive aggressive. Property has lots of steps. There is a set menu in restaurant. I didn’t want 4 course meals so I walked into town, which was nice.

Beautiful views and common spaces. Nice breakfast. Pool open till 10pm which is great. Nice pool. Easy to arrange elephant sanctuary tours.

Lighting very dim. No fridge, hairdryer, etc which while we understand the reasoning, makes it expensive for what you got. Evening menu was a set menu, same each night at something like $11 or $12.. Rooms would benefit from mosquito nets.

Stunning location overlooking the Mekong. Wonderful facilities restaurant and staff managed by Benoit who was kind, professional and very helpful. The pool was perfect and we mostly had it all to ourselves. We’d love to come back and stay longer next time. Easy walking distance to town.

Lighting in the room was so dingy that one cannot read a book or write anything. Not supplying soap in the name of ecology seems a bit stingy. No hot chocolate at breakfast.

Perched on the bank, magnificent views of the mighty Mekong from the private balcony, walking distance of shops and restaurants. Room was spacious, enough to store all bags, comfortable bed with soft pillows. Bathroom well designed and clean. AC was quiet, fan also provided. Breakfast a la carte was fine. High on eco-credentials.
