How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Tours can be booked through hotel, but found cheaper options in local tour offices. Fan to outside has no mosquito net cover so was open to outside.
Amazing breakfast included, even gave us a take away bag for when we left early on the last day. Big bed, good air con, tea and coffee provided in room with mini fridge and kettle. Short walk to old town.

I don't know if I could open the window, but sometimes the room smelled like "it was closed for a long time." Some noises after 10 pm. This is not a negative criticism, these are points for improvement.
The hospitality and generosity of the family who takes care of the Guest House. They are very helpful and kind. Beautiful family.

It could have been a bit more cleaner. There were a lot of mosquitoes in the room.
The location is very quiet and not far from the night market. We also liked the breakfast.

-When we got there after a long journey, there was no rooms in this hotel so the owner let us go to her other hotel 10 minutes away- was very kind as we were poorly - AC was great & room was spotless - Decent basic breakfast - Helpful with booking transfers

The water wasn't super cold but to be fair I don't think I've experienced a cold shower anywhere I've stayed in Laos yet...

Mosquitos were in the room a lot, a pain to deal with. Room was small and this includes the bathroom.
Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast really nice and fresh. Good location near cafes/bars etc. Helpful staff

When we got there the hotel was overbooked and they tried to send us to another hotel owned by the same person. We were travelling by bicycle and chose the hotel by the location. Eventually we were offered a family room for the first night and the room we had booked for the second night. However we saw other travellers being taken to the other hotel due to the overbooking.
Great location in a quiet lane - nice breakfast and comfortable clean rooms.

We called Villay Vanh home for 7 nights and it felt like it! Our host was warm, friendly and amazing. She helped us navigate our daily choices for exploring the area. The menu for breakfast was varied and tasty and generous-fresh fruit always included! The place has a lovely meeting space/reception area for eating and gathering with other guests and an upper balcony as well. Best location for walking to favorite temples, the river, boats etc. yet very quiet. One of our favorite spots in beautiful Laos. Kop jai lai lai.

Bus/train tickets reservation from the hotel are overpriced- better go to any agencies nearby

Nothing I was happy with my stay!
Great location, host was very helpful booked all trips and tours through her, breakfast was gorgeous and served to you!! Coffee was really good, and fruit on arrival and before breakfast which was very thoughtful. Bed was super comfortable, WiFi was good, overall very comfortable and happy with our stay!

Bathroom isn’t fantastic, and the room is a little pricy.

The shower gets the whole bathroom wet.
It was a bit difficult to find the property at first. We were dropped off on the main street and had to walk down several alleys to find it. But after we knew where it was the location ended up being ok. The wood work inside was beautiful. The included breakfast was nice.

A bit of noise from surrounding houses,
Great breakfast with many options to choose from. The location is approximatelly 10-15 minutes from city center but in bit calmer area. Though there was still some noise from surrounding but nothing that would be too disturbing. The lady at the reception was nice and help us to arrange several things though sometimes it took a while to do or communicate (e.g. we had a laundry which we got a bit of last moment before leave and in the end it turned out we did not have to hurry since the taxi was called later to take more guests to airport). Though that might be just part of country culture, Laos is slow pace country :).

The only thing was an extractor fan in the bedroom which didn’t have a mesh on so mosquitoes could get in.
Location was great and the lady on reception was very helpful even set me up a SIM card for my phone.

There was some building work going on behind the hotel which our window faced on to. It was very loud in the mornings and woke us up.
Great staff and locations. Lots of services available including tours and taxis. Very useful
