How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The beds weren’t very clean.

A swimming pool is depicted on their homeside but it isn't there. I choose the hotel because of it. The room is clean but I get itching while I am laying on the bed, my wife found an black insect inisde the bedding. I would suggest carefully examining the room and bed for insects.
Good breakfast with eggs bacon bread and coffee. Lunch and dinner is just outside.

Nice quiet location but still within walking distance to the river area ,which seem's to be the main area to spend time around, maybe do a sunset river cruise etc.

Unfortunately on arrival the toilet seat was broken, the staff were came to look quickly but we had to move to another room for a night before moving back. There was some empty bottles and an ashtray left on the balcony on arrival but quickly cleared when pointed out. A couple of power cuts on one night meant it was very hot but managed to get through to someone at 2.30am who managed to turn it back on after a couple of attempts.
Good location, booked room had some views of the river, had a pool shared with another hotel but didn’t use it, friendly and helpful staff.

We liked everything.
The Zen Boutique House is a lovely place to stay the location is great, the staff are very helpful and there is a small but functional pool shared with other guest houses very close by. The room we had was basic but very clean with a comfortable double bed and a great ensuite shower room. I have read other reviews and I am frankly puzzled by the expectations of other travellers who have left negative comments. It’s not the Ritz but it’s amazing value for money.

The TV had bad reception …this should improve
Older style guest house ..which was clean and comfortable….superb breakfast…very friendly staff The young man in the breakfast room was very helpful and courteous.

The pools were a bit dirty and the beds and deck were too hot to touch by midday but still ok for a quick dip
We were put in the neighbouring house but it was just as good. Cozy beds and nice hot shower. Breakfast was nice and the puppy was adorable albeit a bit annoying 😆

The bed was very comfortable and the room itself was spacious. Also, a young man working in the reception was very helpful and friendly.

Room safe was miniscule, couldn't put anything of real value in it. Thinking laptop and tablet here. Otherwise staff are lovely and helpful.
Location was good, once we found it. Very handy for the historic old town and night market, bars and restaurants.

Only a little trouble finding the property as it’s not signposted until you get down the alleyway, otherwise everything was great :)
Stayed here for 1 night and it was perfect. Room was big, water provided and comfy bed. Breakfast made to order in the morning which was good.

We are not happy with this accomodation because of dirty uncleaned bathroom with long standing bad smelling water on the floor, not cleaned refrigerator.

The property was perfectly hidden of a busier street but super close to all the main spots nearby including phousi hill, night market, muesum and more. The rooms were super clean and spacious, balcony was an added bonus. The pool was lovely and clean. And staff were incredible and helpful.

Nothing negative to say about this place
Everything really, comfortable bed, nice size rooms and bathroom! Very clean and fresh looking too the staff are wonderful especially the young guy usually taking orders at breakfast he was interested in what we were up too where we go etc but all the staff very accommodating!

Squeaky air conditioner, pool shared with hotel next door which required a significant walk down stairs, proprietor didn’t speak English and couldn’t recommend restaurants, urine around toilet seat, water turned off twice without notification, breakfast my last day was served an hour and a half late. Wouldn’t recommend for the price.
