Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaThe hotel is not a real 4 stars hotel (maximum 3), the rooms are not refurbished, everything is old and dusty, the breakfast is basic, the walls are very thin, so you hear all the cleaning process each morning on the hall. Also they will knock at the door every 15 min in the morning to do their job as soon as possible
The location was calm and easy to access, the hotel has an outdoor pool and some sport options. The staff is nice and willing to help

AustraliaMuch of the following is due to hotel management, not staff on the floor: The carpet in 510 was filthy, the bathroom not clean, the room stank of smoke, but I could move into a cleaner room. The onsite cafe is not very inviting but staff are friendly and try to help with what they have, eg instant cappuccino instead of coffee machine. There are no fly screens. The visitor carpark is very littered with rubbish. The corridors sometimes smelled like smoking lounges. The dead little cactus on one of the tables near reception should be put out of its misery. The 4-star rating is not comparable with a 4-star in a country with a healthy economy.
Most staff was very friendly and try to help as much as they can. The valet staff for the visitor carpark was very very friendly and helpful, one even made us a Lebanese coffee before the cafe opened. Room size is okay. The second room I could move to was cleaner than the first one and may pass as 4-star apart from the carpet. The terrace pool is good. The common areas appear clean and maintained apart from some small things. The rooms have functioning laptop safes. The fridges are clean. The bed was comfortable. The AC worked well. The hotel appears to have a generator because the constant power outages only lasted a few seconds to a minute. Hotel accepts international Visa cards. In the current economic situation the hotel is probably a good choice. Pain d'Or bakery and Sea Sweet pastries are in walking distance.

Saudi ArabiaI was put on a high floor following my request to be in a quiet area which was great but unfortunatelyI had noisy neighbours and it was a room with a connection to another room which did not help with the noise level.
The staff was the highlight of the stay

United StatesIt's not the hotel's fault, but when requesting a rideshare or getting a ride back to the hotel using google maps, half the time the navigation takes you to the street behind the hotel, which causes a 5-7 min delay. To avoid this, there is a bakery shop 150-200 feet away, use that as your pickup/drop-off point.
Check in process was easy, parking was safe and plenty. The room was large and I had no issues with the water pressure or temperature. I'm glad parking was included in my rate.

SyriaI had an appointment at the German embassy and got a non-refundable deal for 70$ since the hotel is close to the embassy. Later on, I discovered that the German embassy is at a different location. I wrote an email to Cosmopolitan hotel asking them if they can kindly refund my deal. They refused and charged me the complete cost from my credit card. Now, I won't consider this hotel for any future stays no matter what. I really hope they had some flexibility since it was a reservation by mistake. Anyways, I got a better room with half the price at Plaza hotel. So, I'm glad I didn't have to visit it in the first place. I understand that the deal was non-refundable, but I talked to them early enough to cancel, they could have at least charged me for half the cost or something like that, since I already told them that the booking is canceled, and gave them enough time to find someone else for the room. Worst booking I ever made so far!!! I hope I don't deal with similar hotels in the future.
