Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Singapore- Be prepared to walk up and down plenty of steps to get to the hotel. - Was difficult to control the water temperature in the shower, it either gets too hot or too cold. - Electricity took a break every morning for a couple of hours. Not sure what time it stopped in the very early part of the morning, but it usually started up again around 730/745am or so, Due to the situation in Lebanon this is normal. I just worked around it so not a deal breaker. - Facilities are a little old.
A nice hotel/hostel set in a nice and quiet neighbourhood (Sursock) on the picturesque Saint Nicholas Stairsway. Staff were friendly and every morning a hearty and delicious breakfast was served. The room itself is comfortable and clean. There is a nice vibe to the place, and the hotel itself has a very charming shabby-chic decor.

TurkeyIf they put liquid soap instead of solid one, it would be better. And it would be better if they change the sheets and quilt cover because they were a bit old; there were some tears and dirt.
Its location was literally perfect; on the Nicolas Stairs which is famous. And it is just a few steps far away the Gouraud Street which has a lot of cafes, bars, and restaurants. The Hostel itself also has a good bar and restaurant. The best things about this hostel are its location and its atmosphere; it is cozy and cool. Also, its breakfast is very good. It is clean enough but the building and the equipment are quite old so sometimes you can think that it is not clean enough but it is not about cleanliness it is about the appearance of the equipment. The beds are comfortable. The night staff was very good but I can't say the same thing about the morning staff; they were a bit morose. Finally, if you are looking for new, modern, and super clean equipment and a place, this hostel is not for you. But if you are looking for an excellent location, cozy spirit, delicious breakfast, and nice people, it is the right place. If I'll come again to Beirut, it is obvious that I'll stay here again.

SerbiaAs in hostels can get noisy, its important to mitigate it by having good doors and windows...but I guess it is not possible in this case.. for lockers ypu need to have or buy your own lock key.
Staff were super nice and helpful. Breakfast wonderful! Location is also good, whole area has some nice caffes etc. They can call taxi for you for airport which was helpful.

MexicoJust important to know that you have to go through a fair amount of stairways to get to the place and also to your room. With that in mind, the rest is very good.

SpainThe Grand Meshmosh is located in a lively and arty area of Beirut (Gemmayzeh), very close (even walking distance) from other relevant areas in the city: Mar Mikhail, Ashrafiye, downtown and Hamra, at least. On the rue Gouraud, one can find uncountable eating places and cafés, as well as nice little shops and art galleries. The hotel's atmosphere is very friendly, with a welcoming staff that would always be there to answer my questions regarding how to arrive to places, how much to pay for this and that, what to visit in the city, etc. Enjoying the delicious Lebanese breakfast in the hotel's patio with a view on the St. Nicolas stairs was one of the best moments in the day. My room, located in the annex building, was very quiet and peaceful. The bed was very comfortable and good quality linen and towels were provided, which made my stay very pleasant. I would definitely reccommend the Grand Meshmosh hotel to anyone seeking for an affordable, non-luxurious but nice and clean place, with nice food and nice people.

ItalyWe stayed on the 3rd floor in the annex , there is no elevator meaning we had to carry up our 23kg suitcases on our own.
Fantastic location in a hip neighborhood full of bars & restaurants. Staff are really friendly, breakfast is nice and they have a bar that does great cocktails! Hotel is not modern but I feel like the vintage look is part of its charm. Good vibe and lots of expats.

CanadaGeneral confort with shared bathrooms for example would rate "The Grand Meshmosh" slightly lower but Beyrouth is an expensive city.

ItalyAlthough it was okay for me, I understand that not having elevators and going up the fourth floor it's not comfy for everyone. Also, not a big problem but the towel I was given had stains.
The service of the people, the breakfast was great. Very unique experience. The beds super comfortable. Really liked the area around it. For how the situation is in Beirut, it was a great place to stay.

United KingdomIt's an old building so there's no elevator which might be a problem for some people and it does require some upgrading and refresh but it's not too bad :)
Incredibly conveniently located cute hostel/hotel bang on in the centre of the action when it comes to going out and nightlife. The team is incredibly friendly and helpful and while there are bars around, you can also just sit in the property garden or indoors and enjoy drinks served from their bar. It has all the basic necessities and serves a great Lebanese breakfast.

United KingdomRoom was not very clean, there was dust and the previous occupant's hair everywhere on the floor. Bathroom was a little grotty and old. I was expecting more from the breakfast given how well rated it was. Breakfast was quite simple.
Great location. Buzzing bar and communal space. Nice and helpful staff.
