How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

A4 hostel is a great option if you need to sleep near Colombo Airport. Very near to the airport, super helpful staff that will pick you up at any time day or night and offer a ton of helpful information. Great place to buy your SIM card (don't buy at the airport) or plan your next travel from. The rooms/bungalows are simple and clean.

The location is a little off the beaten track and address not accurate on the website. However Tarin made contact with us directly to explain how to find the hostel.
Free drop off shuttle to airport Tarin and staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The accommodation is basic but clean and comfortable and great value. Tarin went above and beyond when one of us left our phone at the property. After dropping us at airport he then came back to airport with the phone. We were extremely grateful.

It was a little noisy due to the comings and goings but in all fairness this is to be expected in airport accommodation.
Clean, hot shower, great a/c, free shuttle to airport which is just 5 minutes away. We were greeted with such a warm welcome and a glass of Lion beer. Terin bent over backwards to help us and honestly couldn’t do enough to help is

The little huts are great, but really close to each other and not sound proof

you get what you pay for so don’t expect luxury but it does the trick and the room is clean and the staff are great, especially if you need to kill some time before/after a flight.

AC leaks water, but this can be fixed easily
Amazing host, you can feel very safe & under special care. Free of charge pick up from airport and drop off to the airport is provided which makes this property more attractive for those staying few hours (in my case 14 hours) to have a late night or early morning flights from Colombo (Air Arabia, Qatar Airways, etc.). 5 mins away from airport by car. Welcome drink (dark beer) was provided. Food is cheap, you can order for lunch or dinner. They will wake up you for dinner & for your flight drop off as well. Chalets are very comfortable, with AC and all mandatory amenities. Highly recommended!

the food. I can’t remember what was the name of that local food. it was not worth the price. a bit pricey

Free airport shuttle. Excellent communication on whatsapp, very fast to respond even at 2am. My flight was delayed an hour and they were so accommodating to pick me up at 3-4am. The next morning they were super helpful with planning a tuktuk driver to Sirigiya and let me check out late. The staff were soooo friendly!

This place and service was exceptional! Not only was Terin (amazing owner) able to accommodate our arrival at 3:00am in the morning, with free shuttle to the accommodation, he was also able to facilitate a driver/car for us to see the sights in Sri Lanka at an extremely affordable price! We were also able to get car service from Ella to Galle. Terin and his team are able to deliver a fantastic time in Sri Lanka. The accommodation is everything you need; AC, clean and better than what the pictures show. I would definitely recommend this place! Thank you so much for making our trip wonderful.

+ I was received very warmly and was offered something to drink right away. The accommodation was very comfortable and clean and is located about 7 minutes from the airport. The ride to the airport was organized by the hotel free of charge. Can only recommend the hotel, thank you for the service!
