It was a steep walk from reception down to the room. Also more sunbeds needed by pool

It was nice to have a detached room with a lovely view. Also pool was good too. Staff were really nice and good breaky. Also had an evening meal which was lovely.

No hot shower (even between power cuts) Room was not sealed against insects - there were many. Hotel is between two main roads so is quite noisy during the day. WiFi was inconsistent

Though it is beautiful, there are many small details that would make it better. The bathroom smells like sewage, there were many ants inside, the big windows were unclean, the toilet lid was loose. It was a little surprising considering how nice the place is in general. It is a long way to Ella, but it's easy to get a cheap TukTuk, and I think it's worth it for the view!

The hotel is a beautiful one, but what stands out most are the staff. They were kind, helpful, and quick to respond to any of our requests. The buildings are lovely and modern with a great view of the Buddhist stupa on the opposite hillside. The pool is nice on a warm day. The electronics in the room are modern, and it is nice that all the lights are dark at night.

I arrived at the hotel and there seemed to be some confusion about my booking. As a solo traveller, this immediately made me feel uneasy to the point I even thought I was at the wrong hotel. After this was sorted I was asked to pay for my stay upfront, I have no issue with this usually but after the bad welcome, I just sensed something was off. When I arrived at my room I instantly realised why. The room had quite honestly the worst smell I have ever smelt in any room I have stayed in. My initial thought was it must be the drainage system but after closer inspection, the whole room was covered in mould... the ceiling, the walls, it was everywhere. I lasted 15 minutes in the room before I felt ill and went to complain. After some back and forth and a poor explanation that it was the new air fresher (it was not), they upgraded me to a lovely chalet room. The standard double rooms/family rooms need to be renovated, the extent of the mould/pungent smell is unacceptable. For US$67 for 2 nights, I would not expect this... I also asked for the wifi but was never given the details, I can only assume it didn't work.

After making a complaint about my original room to the manager I was upgraded to a chalet room. The chalet room was a vast improvement, comfy bed and spacious. The view from the restaurant is beautiful.

Cleanliness zero

Rooms were dirty and full of insects in the room.dirty linen, dirty kettle.Broken taps and no water. Pictures and reality totally different.view was amazing and don’t understand why the management cannot maintain this property well.not only us other guests also facing same issues and problems and complaining and shouting to the staff. Management need to take and action.

Booking.com has provided LKR 23000+ for both room Breakfast included. Hotel charged LKR 30000+ what is this?

Breakfast is very bad and not delivered as promised. After lot of arguments only provided some food items.

I was shown to my room by the manager and asked for the wfi code. The internet wasn't working he said he would get it fixed When he had gone I realised that there was a very unpleasant damp smell there was no toilet paper soap or towels, and the floor and bath mats were very dirty, staining on the sheets dirty shelf over the sink I persevered as I had a 6 night stay here and wouldn't have got any refund but after night 2, I discovered mice droppings on the vanity shelves evidence of wood worm in the panelling, and after having a cold shower(no hot water ), the whole unit came away from the wall After finding other accommodation for the remaining nights of my stay in Ella, I informed him that I was leaving 3 days early I was given a very nice chalet for 1 night with dinner included for that night which was the least they could offer, but the whole experience at this hotel has made me feel very uncomfortable and was not going to be persuaded to stay and room the double room certainly wasnt fit for any guest to stay there at all and to have to ask for the basic items for a hotel room and the price I paid was pretty shocking

Unfortunately the room was very dirty. There was dust all over the sheets and we found animal droppings on the bedside table. When we asked the front desk for someone to change the sheets and clean, we came back 12 hours later with nothing having been done. We were also without wifi for 2/3 nights.

Staff were friendly, location is great, and landscape is beautiful.

We have nothing bad to say about Aloft Grand hotel, we loved our stay

Such a nice place, we loved the cottage we stayed in. Nice pool and nice breakfast. We didn’t mind staying a little outside the city, it was not very far and you can easily take a tuktuk og taxi. The staff was so friendly and helpful, such good service.

There was to high humidity, but you can expect it at the place like this.

After our checkout we wanted to see nearby temple and we asked them, if we can leave our lugage at reception. They were very nice and allowed. 🙂 They were helpful and kind. Breakfast was great 🙂

The staff (apart from the manager) wasn’t very hospitable. We had to ask for many things - some of it which wasn’t working. For the money we were paying we were expecting much better service.

When we had a problem they solved it immediatly and gave us an upgrade. They also helped us with bus to Matara - they told us when it goes and stoped it for us in front of the hotel.

when we arrive we were informed that the wifi is not working. when we got to our our room we had no water at all either. therefore we had to move: the new room was worse. No fresh bed sheets, no ventilation, broken AC, broken bathroom door and a big bug in our kettle. also the room was not clean at all

if everything would have worked and would have been clean the hotel itself and the arrangement with the cabins is nice
