Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThis hotel has been pretty hard for me to review. While our room was great that is about it. The hotel itself seems to have given up, just like most things in Passikudah. The hotel has zero atmosphere. The pool bar was never open, there was no music or anything. At night time we visited the hotel bar but we stood around for 15 minutes and nobody turned up, the hotel was like a ghost town. Thank god we had our own Tuk Tuk as we ended up driving 15 mins out of town to see some life. We should have stayed for 2 nights but after the first night we checked out in the morning and moved onto a different location.
Staff friendly and our room was a good size with a comfy bed.

Sri LankaAlmost everything
Actually just the location was super. The hotel is closest to the safest bathing spot on the beach. The food was mediocre and buffet choice was very poor. There were off menu items on offer but no one informed us until we saw normal buffet staples like bacon and sausages being served to other tables. Rooms were small and only provided two small bottles of water despite the heat outside

AustriaOnly the location.
Not enough sun beds, towels, and umbrellas. The food was not good. Same buffer everyday, hard bread, canned juices, old lentils. Friendly restaurant manager and supervisor. At the bar they threw us out at 23:00. We were at the last stages of our game billiards but the waiter and security said we have to leave. Bar keeper was off. Billiards equipment was old and broken but they charged us Rs 1500 for playing. This hotels needs a good manager. No one was to be seen except the friendly Res. Manager. This hotel has a top location and environment, but none of the facilities are been used to offer a better service to their guest. Example Pool bar! Used as a store room for mattresses the other bar locked and no entrance.if your thirsty you have to get your drinks yourself from the main bar. Service staff need training. The bellboy was one of the best to observe at work. He is a traditional old bellboy, tried hard and explains a lot to his guests. I wish the management Aitken Spence takes action and save this hotel from running down the drain. Best wishes. It’s a shame.

Sri LankaUnfortunately, I had to go through an unpleasant experience with the management. On the way, I phoned the front desk to inquire if any double room is available, and he said yes, and the price he quoted for room only was 15,300LKR. Then I asked him if I should book via booking.com? front desk person told me to go ahead with booking.com if the rates are the same, it was the same and I booked it. When I arrived at the Amethyst resort, I had a good welcome from the staff called Paul. He guided us to the reception and shared good words. I was having a conversation with the front desk assistant Buwanesh regarding the rates and stay. So I request direct booking from the resort so I can enjoy the full board experience. But Mr. Buwanesh told me that I could not upgrade my reservation as I have already booked via booking.com, and if I cancel, there are possibilities to get a penalty for me, which it has already mentioned free cancellation. Then he advised me to go with the room only reservation that i made through booking.com, he even checked the price and rates and told me all rates including the tax are same with the resort rates in booking.com in my phone, then I kept the reservation active with his advice, I had no options to upgrade to full board or half board, so I had to drive 7.2kms to buy dinner and breakfast. On the checkout day, I was getting a bill of 19,300 LKR for room only, then I got to know the taxes are imposed for my booking, which the front desk person are knowledgeless regarding amount and Buwanesh was clueless about how the taxes had been implemented. Even talking to the accounts manager, he didn't even understand what I was trying to explain. I had to pay extra from my pocket for the bad advice from the front desk assistant. I actually felt like I had been ripped off purposly. Atlease a courtesy to accept the mistake and apologise. Dealing many customers a day with booking.
Drove all the way to this amazing resort in pasikuda. Property was well maintained and cleaned. The swimming pool was clean and well maintained. This resort offers the lake and beach. Location is superb.

United KingdomThe beach area is more basic but for the price it has everything you need! There are some loungers I’d recommend walking along the beach towards UGA bay resort…there is absolutely no coral on the beach. You can use their lux loungers too if you buy a drink/snack from the beach bar.
Room: spacious, very large, comfortable beds (super king size for double bed). TV, little seating area and outdoor seating. Bathroom huge. Good storage. NB as it’s so hot the air con does work but you won’t feel it much in the day, it definitely cools the room plenty in the evening & night. Resort: more basic looking than some along the beach strip however for the price point EXCELLENT! Such good value for money. One can easily walk along the beach and use sun loungers on the beach at UGA bay (really upmarket resort) if you buy a drink/snack from the beach bar. I also recommend you pop to Malou Malou for a drink in their beach boat bar :) Definitely explore the beach area and walk all along. Don’t forget to WALK to KALKUDAH beach along the road. It takes ten minutes and is a beautiful beach with absolutely no one there! Amazing. The coconut grove farm is also a great visit. Very cheap. They teach you all about coconuts and how to make the oil, cream and coconut furniture. They are so friendly. Leave a tip and buy some products. Many people who work there can’t get jobs elsewhere and have injuries from the civil war. The coconut ice cream is lovely! Staff are brilliant at Amethyst, so friendly. Paul and Christiante were informative, welcoming and friendly. The buffet for breakfast and dinner has everything you need and is plentiful. The boat trips are worth doing. We did the glass bottom boat and snorkelling. Some beautiful fish to be seen and clear still waters :)

Sri LankaCharges are very high . Hotel staff mentioned that their tripple full board pakege is Rs. 32,000/= But the booking .com has charged Rs. 57,000/= . We have taken 2 tripple room s in full board basis so that we paid Rs. 114,000/= for the rooms. Hence we lost Rs. 50,000/- due to your wrong calculations .Hotel staff as well as my family has decided to not to make any booking through booking.com
