This place, in the middle of jungle, has it's own magic. It's very cozy, you almost feel like at “grandmother's cottage”. We have been taken care greatly by Chaminda the chef, he serves delicious food at the open kitchen. Unfortunately we didn't meet the owners, but they've been in touch with us the whole time and helped us with everything we needed. Thank you for this experience, we will definitely come back!

We had an amazing few days at the retreat! The house is really beautiful, especially the bathroom. The bed is perhaps the comfiest I stayed in in sri lanka and has a nice thick duvet for when the nights are a little chilly. Nice small touches such as extra blankets, toiletries and a mini bar. Amazing food and the chef is lovely. 2 beautiful dogs and the friendliest cat you'll ever meet. We will definitely be back again :)

The only thing that at least in our experience would have been better, we found it that we could hear some motor bikes and tuk tuks from the road behind. And the Buddhist monks would sing at 6am (so they would wake us up), but hey, thats why you travel, to experience different things. :)

This place was our favourite place to stay in all our Sri lanka trip, i was surprised when we arrived cause the place looks even better in real life than in the pictures. The cook of this place is amazing, we had a cooking class with him, and every breakfast and dinner we have there it was always a fantastic experience of amazing sri lankan food. Ishanka, the owner was so so nice, we had amazing chats with him, he and his wife have a lovely project going on, and he was always super helpful, he helped us organize our tuk tuks, and always recommended things to do. Even if it would rain heavily on the afternoon we could stay by the porch reading and just listening the sound of the jungle. The view on the breakfast place is unbelievably stunning, the bathroom is HUGE and it made me feel like in a spa!

However, the bed was a bit cramped and the room was dark and damp. Since non of the windows had any kind of nets you couldn't really open them without having insects all over the room. Also the food were limited and very expensive. I think with this price you can get nicer options.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The sorounding environment was very nice. The breakfast was also very good.

1) be aware that they only accept cash or direct transfers - this resulted for us in quite some additional fees, so either bring enough cash or keep that in mind. 2) the rooms on the upper level to the one on lower level are only connected via the stairs outside, which feels like to separate apartments. No big deal but something to keep in mind when your plan is to have your kids stay in one of the rooms on their own. 3) room downstairs had a damp smell, probably because of the recent rains 4) the manager who is on site, speaks barely any english, but the communication with owner via WhatsApp was very easy

Really amazing lodge in an beautiful spot. Staff are wonderful, especially the chef. A true nature resort close to Ella train station. The breakfast is amazing and get’s cooked right on your terrace. We also had a dinner, which was delicious. We did not meet the owner but had a really good communication with him. They were also very nice to let us stay with a 3rd child and even prepared an additional bed for him. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it when taking into account some minor points (mentioned below).

Food prices are a little bit overpriced compared to the rest of Sri Lanka. There are no beverages available. You must go to Ella if you want something to drink a part from water. You can hear the road noise, but it is manageable. The room is very dump and needs ventilation/renovation. Water not heating properly.

I loved being surrounded by nature. Sri Lankan food was great. It's very easy to access Ella town. Sri Lankan coffee in the room. The chef who cooked the food and staff's attention. Good protection from mosquitos. Rice fields are amazing. Tea plantations just around the corner. Thank you.

Most likely the sheet was washed but there were stains on it and I hoped that it was not mold. In the bathroom, you need to carefully wash the floor mats, they look not fresh. At night, the bird was picking at the roof until the morning, preventing me from sleeping, and the sounds from occasionally passing cars can be heard since the house is close to the road.

The owner of the house and assistants are amazing people, kind, open. Vino prepared for us the most delicious breakfast in Sri Lanka, 100 out of 100 for quality, aesthetics and taste! I wish to finish building a house opposite to organize yoga in it and then the place will be more attractive.

Cleanliness – The property is 150 years old and the host has retrofitted the house.Hence,the bedrooms are damp. Offers attached toilet to only 1 out of 2 rooms. Mosquitoes, flies, leeches are prevalent so better to be come prepared for some adventure! Staff – Average. In the evening, we had to call up the host as there was no one to secure the property specially because it was pitch dark and no lights were on. Food – Average. Set breakfast menu. Other meals are not offered(Though we had gone to the Main City for our Dinner)

Location – Excellent. The property is located amidst farmland and is yet at a convenient distance of 1.5 kms from the Ella main town.
