How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The staff service was exceptional. They were attentive, polite and friendly - we always had a sense that nothing was too much trouble. The resort was tranquil, beautiful and quiet. The room felt spacious and airy and the waterfall style shower was luxorious. The large floor to ceiling windows in our room make you feel at one with the surrounding countryside, whilst being very private. We could also see Lion's Rock in the distance from our balcony. The food was exceptional. The chef made a variety of traditional Sri Lankan breakfasts during our stay, and there were Western options available too if you wanted (toast + marmite!). The chef also prepared a beautiful spread of Sri Lankan curry and rice one evening (we gave the chef 24 hours notice for this). The food was presented in the most beautiful way, on large wicker trays with banana leaves, candles and fresh flowers.

Nothing. This was a well managed, relaxing place surrounded by forrest and nature and a great location for exploring the local attractions.
From the initial greeting by the manager, Ishan, to our departure this stay was an extremely positive experience. The staff is so incredibly hospitable and go out of their way to accommodate any request. Any problems with the room are fixed immediately and guest comfort is a priority. The food at the restaurant is cooked and presented very well and the waiters will try to provide new local taste experiences which have been freshly prepared for the day. The pool is a great area for relaxing after a long day of trekking or on safari. We loved it here and hope to return sometime soon.

The hotel itself was beautifully decorated. Our room interior was minimally designed, very in keeping with the greenery. The staff were also very hospitable!

There was no bar by the pool, however drinks were available on request. The wine options were limited
Staff were lovely and could not do enough to help. The food was fabulous for both breakfast and dinner. Close to Sigirya Rock (5 mins drive). The grounds are very well maintained. For the best views ask for a room upstairs

It would’ve been nice to have a little more ambience during the daytime (maybe some music) for when you were by the pool.
We loved Atha Resort so much. The manager and the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive and sorted just about everything for us including travel/ transport and recommendations. The breakfast was incredible and perfect each morning. The pool is great and easy access to sigriya by tuk tuk.

There were ants on our bed when we checked in. They seem to have come through the ceiling. They immediately took care of it and we didn't have big issues with it after, but somehow very few ants found now and then their way to us.
The resort is beautifully set up with a stunning water walkway at the entrance. The pool can be used the entire time which is great! Breakfast has been so abundant that we pretty mich could only always eat a third of it. The small size (maybe 8 rooms) makes it so calm and cozy! And the manager was so quick to check in with us, if everything is okay, if we have everything. Such things as simply providing water in order for us to have something on our way home are simple, but really make the difference. Also prices for lunch and drinks is absolutely reasonable - it wasn't more expensive than what you would get charged in other places.

Really great resort! The resort is rather small which makes it very special. The rooms are very nice and clean and the staff is super friendly and helpful. We would come back any time and can really recommend this place!

Amazing boutique hotel with lovely rooms and incredible service. The breakfast was generous, authentic and delicious! The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful especially the manager who was always available to help and share interesting facts about Sri Lankan food! There were always staff cleaning the hotel and gardens and felt like a lot of care went into the surroundings. Would definitely em recommend staying here.

Our view from the room was not the best and was not really private, however we were just unlucky as other rooms are better.
Very hospitable and nice staff, always helpful and doing everything they can. :) We felt very welcomed. Breakfast was really delicious and we loved the Sri Lankan specialities which even varied each day.

Very clean and nice place. Staff is very friendly and nice. We enjoyed the company of Dammika (a very nice and happy staff) he took us touring around sigiriya and made sure we were very happy! I 100% recommend and would come back again!
