Atha safari resort is located next to a beautiful river, close to Udawalawe National Park and close to the city center and a peaceful place in nature. The cottage is very nice, especially the large outdoor shower. Breakfast and dinner were also very good and we felt completely comfortable. Ansanka is a great host. He provided everything to feel like our own home. Also, he organized a wonderful safari and the driver is a very knowledgeable guide. And the staff was very friendly. We can thoroughly recommend it and hope to return one day.

The very kind owner Asanka welcomed us very warmly. Asanka's wife Sadamali served us a wonderful local meal for dinner. They prepared an excellent safari trip. The jacuzzi tub was great to sit back and cool off after a long day on safari. We had an excellent driver for the safari, and a jeep to ourselves. We did the full day safari and can highly recommend it. In the morning we saw a lot of wild animals, and the driver was sure we would see herds around lunchtime, as his experience showed that they come out and cool off at this time of day. He was not wrong. We saw 3 different herds of elephants this day and when we saw the largest herd of 12 there was not another jeep around!!! An amazing experience. This is the only hotel in Sri Lanka designed by one person alone. For that, Asanka has used lakhs of stones from the river and he has all the videos of the creation. It's really amazing. I recommend 100%.

A very warm welcome and a lovely stay by the river. Very helpful in organizing our safaris and transfers. 4km to the baby elephant sanctuary. They prepared dinner for us which was very tasty and great value for money. The best part is that the owner, Asanka, has built every structure here. The video footage of its construction using lakhs of river stones is amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it.

"Amazing hotel with amazing staff!" OOOOO Reviewed 24th in may I stayed at Udawalawa this week and had an absolutely wonderful experience. They took care of us from the moment we arrived at the restaurant it made our experience extremely pleasurable not having to worry where to go (and we were coming from the farther away near few locations ). We had a private vehicle and air con van to camp us directly to the hotel. When we arrived we were welcomed with fresh drinks and cold towels to refresh us. We were then brought to our beautiful room that was large, spacious and modern. We got to experience the river side as well which was the best natural place i've gotten in a long time. They have beach chairs out in front of the hotel with a security guard as well (so you can leave all your stuff on your chairs when you want to go swimming and not worry). You have to visit their Natural jungle side restaurant as well, as it is the most stunning view of the sunset and sometimes you have it to yourself as it's not too busy. Positioned in the heart of station 2 you are walking distance to all the shops. I’m highly recommend this hotel for your peaceful family day I would come back in a heartbeat! 🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰 BUDDIKA ERANGA

A wonderful place to stay in Udawalawe by a river! Very comfortable and very clean. I was well taken care of and the host ably assisted us whenever needed. He sorted out the safari for me very easily and made it an unforgettable experience. My dinner was full of delicious local food. The birdsong with the environment is very beautiful. Highly recommended for a multi-day vacation. The most valuable thing I have seen from them is the precious safari trip which is worth more than the money paid.

We only stayed one night to do a safari and the host Asanka was incredibly helpful, friendly and kind. A family business. He really knows how to entertain tourists. All the rooms facing the beautiful river are built by the owner Asanka himself. This was the best and quietest stay we have ever had. The food is home cooked and very delicious. The safari driver at the hotel was incredibly knowledgeable about the park and the animals. It's really incredible.

Great stay with the most friendly owner and his family! Everything was nice and clean and everyone was very kind. The owner helped us with arrival and departure and literally did everything for us. We also booked a safari with him, which was the most convenient option. It was amazing because we saw so many animals, had a super kind driver and the whole park was not that crowded. At the end of the safari, the owner refreshed us with countless glasses of fruit juice. The sound of the river as well as the birdsong was amazing.

A bird paradise overlooking the river .We went on a safari with them and loved it so much! It was such an amazing experience! Our favorite local delicacies were deliciously served to us by Asanka's wife Sadamali. Everything was perfect. My wife and two kids spent the evening on the river and the birdsong was amazing. A perfect place to stay for days for adults and children alike. This is my second visit to Sri Lanka and my second visit to Atha safari resort. Strongly recommended.
