How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The property was a bit hard to find as the sign is tucked in the trees, but it’s right on the corner of the main road (opposite rays)
Room was super clean, and had a nice balcony area. Perfect distance between Hiriketiya and Dikwella (which made it a 10 min walk to Cargills). The kitchen was well equipped and saved us lots of money! Host was really friendly, we ended up extending a night.

I loved my stay at B&B Charm, so much so that I was only booked for 2 nights and ended up staying 5. The room is brand new and sparkling clean. The aircon works perfectly and the property is a short walk to the beach. If I return to Hiri (which I plan on doing!), I will absolutely be coming back

Fantastic stay! Aircon is brilliant. The rooms are very large and the staff are lovely, kind & communicative. There is a small, well equipped kitchenette with a fridge for people to use. Location is great - very close to the beach but far enough away that you can sleep peacefully! Would definitely stay here again.

Such a nice place to stay in. The B&B is in a quiet little street, walking distance to the beaches, supermarket etc. The room was clean and the family/owners are very nice. They offer a nice breakfast and also Landry service. I would come back for sure.

It was very clean and big rooms. Most of them even have a balcony. The family who runs it is very friendly and helpful. Location is perfect, you can reach both beaches within a 5-10 mins walk.

It was good . No faults. The family work so hard to make you feel welcome.
Great value for money. 23 DOLLARS for two nights Lovely big bedroom with double bed. Clothes rack and so clean. Immaculately clean. Walk in beautiful shower and great facilities. Small balcony but really good with table two chairs with view off garden. Loved the bat flying past the balcony at 20.30 hours for several minutes Good location several minutes walk to beach. Lovely family and staff .very friendly. Definitely recommend

Very clean and really all you need! They were so nice and let us check in early / on the last day we we left a little later and they had a shower that we could use before our journey. Would recommend!

Good budget option between Hirikteya and Dickwella. Our room was clean and comfortable, It had a private balcony and the aircon worked perfectly. The WiFi was strong and the whole place was spotless. We didn't eat there but you could get breakfast . There was also a communal kitchen available for use. Great wee place.

But it needs some improvements. Pillows were not comfortable. For cover they provide 1m wide sheets which is very uncomfortable use. Also towels had a smell of the smoke, because they dry them close to the kitchen. A bit noisy in the morning, but nothing crazy.
Overall room is nice and new for that price. Bathroom is also good.

A great b&b, close to the beach and main road. Very clean and new rooms + kitchen to use. Some tables on the balcony as well. Would definitely come back!

Many places in Sri Lanka have prices in USD, but then of course you anyway pay in LKR, creating alot of unnecessary issues because of the exchange rate they use. I do not understand why they do this. In Sri Lanka the currency is LKR so prices should be clear in LKR. It is ready confusing enough for europeans to pay in hundreds and thousands. Putting USD in between just creates more confusion.
Spotlessly clean house. We had a spacious room with a silent fan over each bed. Bathroom was small but proper. Very convenient communal tiny kitchen and dining area. Breakfast was delicious. The family is very helpful. Our little ones loved playing around the garden with their children. In the morning all the family gets involved in cleaning everywhere toroughly.

We loved our stay at B & B Charm! The rooms are new and clean, the owners are friendly, and the location was perfect with a 5-10 minute walk to either Hiriketiya or Dikwella beach. Highly recommend!

We didn’t have hot water in our room, but my mothers room did so it wasn’t a big deal do us.
The rooms were clean and well maintained. The location is within walking distance of both beaches and the town which made it perfect for us. The owners are amazingly helpful and kind people. The wifi was good and we used the utensils is the shared kitchen to eat our dinner one night.
