Only downside was the beach, which like many in Sri Lanka, is not the best for swimmers. Strong tides and many rocks make swimming difficult. But bring a few good books and just Chil-lax!

We loved our stay at New Bay View Villa. The location right on the beach with incredible sea views from our room and the restaurant overlooking the water - was idyllic. It is off-the beaten track and isolated, but perfect for a two night stay to just chill and relax after busier beaches like Hiriketiya. Staff was excellent and very accommodating. Food in the restaurant was very good. Short walk to cute Jungle Beach where there is a nice cafe. Beds were very comfortable and large.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. It was very quiet area with easy tuk tuk ride to Welligama. There was a great left hand surf break right in front of the hotel. My family had a wonderful stay!

Staff didn't advise me properly where it's best to snorkel from the hotel. Therefore, I hit and cut my foot on some rocks which is why I couldn't go in the ocean properly for the rest of my stay in Sri Lanka. However, the staff provided some plasters as first help. One evening the electricity wasn't working but it was resolved within 2 hours.

Great Srilankian breakfast with ocean view. Huge portion. Direct access to the water to snorkel. However, be careful as it's pretty rocky. View from the room. It has a nice beach to swim and snorkel nearby. It's away from the hustle and noise from Wellingama and Merissa. You can take the bus to get to the city center and Coconut hill etc. I extended my stay from one to three nights as I really liked the place.

Great views overlooking the waves rolling in and the surfers, was very relaxing. The breakfast was simple, but tasty. We had a couple of meals in the evening which were very good. Staff were friendly. It was a 10 - 15 min walk into Weligama, or short tuk tuk ride. We used the hotel as a base to visit Galle, Koggala, Marissa and Matara. All of which were easily accessible by train and bus.

Nice location not so far from Weligama. Good breakfasts, nice sea without waves in front of hotel, same time great spot for advance surfing in 50 m. Sea view rooms has amazing view (2 floor)

Privacy could be improved for the top floor,as people are passing by the balcony more often than necessary. Owner(s) seem to be living on premises and are very present.

The price/service/location combination is great. Professional staff, very good food and superb views. Small private beach (especially for women and LGBTQ+), but one has to be careful when snorkeling (reef starts 10-15 meeters from water entrance and the water is shallow there, best to enter slightly from the right after the rocks to not damage corals). You can rent the snorkeling equipment there too and the PADI dive center is walking distance.

The location is far from the city and other activities... No easy access to the local transport. Other facilities could be cleaner.

The views were fantastic. Food was good as well. Clean rooms. The staff were cordial and friendly. Good place to stay considering the budgets.

It's remote so you need transport (Tuk tuk) to get in to Welligama, but staff arranges with ease. Constant sound of the waves, could be seen as a good thing ;)

Super fantastic beautiful location just on top of the ocean. Constantly helpful and smiling staff it's a true pleasure to hang around. Great breakfast, with the best view over the ocean, leaves nothing else to request. Very fresh, clean and nice atmosphere.

Getting in and out of the room after it rained the tiles make the floor quite slippery. However this is just a small section of the hotel and only if you're in the part of the hotel we were. So just take care here.

Everything. New Bay View ticked every box for us. The view from our room was stunning, if you can get an upper deck very worth it. The room was clean, comfortable, equipped with a fridge. We stayed over Christmas and they made us feel like home. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was devine and lots of it. We never felt hungry. For lunch or dinner we recommend any of the local fish they've caught that day, we had with a garlic sauce and oh my gosh YUM. Plus this place has the best Chicken Kothuri we've tried since being in Sri Lanka. 10/10 you must try. Suresh the host was kind and welcoming, he was happy to organise anything we needed. Paritha was such a credit to the hotel, he was very attentive at breakfast service, he was always so busy, we never saw him not working, always sweeping or cleaning or looking after a guest. Value for money - so worth it. There are parts of the hotel that need updating - not the main areas ie room, resturant, foyer all lovely. But downstairs where the sundeck is and there is a stunning area below the resturant which is under cover view of the sea perfect for evening relaxing watching the sea. This does need a lick of paint, but the guys are on it. There were many people painting while we were there and in the 7 nights we stayed some of the rooms were transformed. Location - it's a little out of town, which was perfect for us, as far from the busy main road and the loud trainline. Be prepared to take a tuk tuk or a 30min walk. Alot of the tuk tuks have surf roof racks so you can store the surfboard at the hotel if needed. We can not wait to come back, if we are ever in Sri Lanka again this will be the place we come to.

My second time in the hotel and I enjoyed again the amazing view and the great staff. I had a really good time to relax because its very quiet and the lounge is so comfortable to chill, eat or little bit to work on notebook. Wifi connection in our room was not really good and it‘s a bit away from the city and the main beaches, but you can easiliy go there by Tuktuk

Really clean and comfortable rooms with European standards! The view to the sea is really nice and there are many places to sit, chill and enjoy this panorama. You can directly start snorkeling from the location (we even saw a turtle), for swimming it's better to visit Jungle Beach (10 minutes to walk).

What an absolute hidden gem! this property is in such a prime location, secluded, but close enough to busy Weligama around the corner. Basicly a private beach out front with incredible snorkeling. Jump in the ocean right from the tanning deck out front. Rooms were big and super comfortable with amazing sea views. Staff super friendly and accommodating. Also, don’t go anywhere else for dinner, their food is spectacular! Fresh fish from the day available, but everything we tried was so tasty! Highly recommend!

the room we had on the ground floor had no sea view as it says on booking; but they gave us an upgrade to the first floor and the view you have here is gorgeous
