How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

A bit noisy in the morning because of the road but that didn't bother me.
Very central location so perfect for exploring the city on foot. Also the most comfortable bed i've stayed in in sri lanka!

It was good experience for us. Actually price was good. Main usuall thing was the location. Actually we can move with in five minutes to everywhere in kandy. So can recommend 👍👍👍👍😍😍😍😎😎😎😎

The room smelled quite damp, I think it could do with some ventilation. Also, the shower smelled of pee and appeared to be quite dirty. Not ideal.
The location was spectacular, the staff were exceptionally kind (even going out of their way to stay up to wait for me and my food), and I liked the privacy of the wooden boxes in the room. I felt like I was in my own room almost.

It would have been nice to have access to a locker or to be able to lock your compartment. The opening and closing hours are a bit annoying if you don't plan around it.
The beds in the dorm were more like a little mini room. There are only 4 beds in the dorm and each has a sliding door and larger bed than usual. I was a bit worried about the ventilation since it was more or less enclosed, but it was alright. Since the hostel/hotel is part of the cafe downstairs, it closes with their hours. Basically the doors are open around 7:30 to 9:30 pm more or less. If you want to enter or leave outside of those hours, you have to call someone. For me, it wasn't a problem, but just something to consider. Location was about a 20 minute walk from the bus station and about a 10-15 minute walk to the relevant parts of the old town.

No facilities; traffic noise was awful and it was quite hard to sleep without waking up (recommendation: please put earplugs in every room).
Staff was very helpful. We had to leave before breakfast time, but they still made a nice breakfast specially for us.

Doors are not open 24/7, staff has to be called to enter or leave during nighttime. Breakfast was not reimbursed, although we didn't use it.
Great location. Good food and drinks in the café at the ground floor.

It looks like a leakage took place in the bathroom (showers), a lot of mold.
Location, old city center, plenty of space in the room, airco, friendly and helpful staff - host.

Coordination between their staff members is poor
They didn't provide any meal for me but the staff is quite smart and did their best to provide me a room ASAP , even they didn't ready to welcome me in that night. Actually it's not a their issue, as i understood no-one informed them to about my arrival. However they did their best.

1. From the first booking of 2 nights and then staying 1 more night, the hotel should provide a receipt to customers after check-out to increase professionalism 2. Without asking customers to clean the rooms for the first two nights and without towels until I had to inform the staff 3. The bathroom floor if there was a deeper cleaning would be great
1. Not far to walk to temples, lake, shopping area, some restaurants 2. The hotel is on a street corner and not difficult to spot 3. The ground floor has food and drinks and bakery, which is convenient if you feel lazy to go out 4. Reception and staff in the restaurant zone That is, they are well prepared to recommend food and services 5. I like the warm water strength system. Cold water while showering 6. If I have the opportunity this August, I will stay here again

The location is exactly next to a big street so it was very loud. For traveling with small children I can not recommend because of the noise.
The staff was very nice and friendly, also it was clean. Central.

Felt like a proper hotel room with the comfiest bed and wardrobe space. And best shower I’ve had across Sri Lanka! The ice cold welcome drink was a lovely touch.

The management needs to be more organized because we weren't able to check into our rooms until an hour post our arrival. But overall it was a nice experience :)

Our number was without window but it wasn’t a problem, because it needed only for sleep.
Location is perfect, very hospitality employees. Nice cafe on the 1st floor.

Lots of stairs. Hotel closed at 9pm as it shared the entrance with the cafe. Our room was not serviced over our 4nights, so we ran out of clean towels, loo roll, tea, etc. The hotel sits on a main crossroads, so noise maybe a problem. Quiet at night, but traffic starts to build about 6.30.
Room was spacious. Clean. Air-con worked really well. Cafe on the ground floor was good value and the food was ok. Breakfast was the same every day, omelette and sausage but tasty and adequate. Staff were delightful and helpful.

Balcony was not satisfied. Thier check out time should be extended until 12
