We had a great stay here. Everything was perfect. They arranged a desk in the room because we needed to work some days. The internet connection was very good for video calls and meetings. The room was very comfortable and clean and had a balcony with the best mountain and waterfall view! Also the breakfast is set in a central balcony where you can enjoy it while starring at the beautiful landscape. The breakfast was everyday different and very complete and delicious. The host family was very kind and friendly. We definitely recommend it!

The location was nice but not the best to go out in the evening in the city centre since the street was very dark. Nobody at the reception ever so at the end I had to pay the bill via bank transfer.

Nothing! Wish I could have stayed longer.

Everything was perfect: The room was decorated simply but very tastefully. There was a beautiful view from my balcony, comfy bed, good ventilation, and nice bathroom facilities. The fan worked well but not really necessary at night with the cool mountain air coming through my opened windows and balcony door and NO mosquitoes. The lovely lady working there greeted me on my arrival with tea, biscuits and fruit and served a wonderful breakfast every day. The owner & his family lived in the ground floor and the property was well looked after. I met some other nice guests there as well. I have already recommended this absolutely Brilliant View to several friends.

3rd time staying at Brilliant View. Like coming home. Peaceful, cool, clean and beautiful view and really comfortable rooms. After travelling around Sri Lanka it is always a welcome opportunity to recover, reflect and rejuvenate. A short walk above the bustle of the town it could be far from the maddening crowd. Peaceful. A few metres back along the track take you to steps up to the railway track which you follow to little Rwanda waterfall and Ella Rock. On the way opposite the station at Kitalella is a cafe that has parrots, woodpeckers and squirrels regularly feeding from a bird table just off the veranda. We love the peace at Brilliant View homestay, the rooms, balcony views watching birds, squirrels and monkeys. The dust free cleanliness and the roof top area with opportunity to wash our clothes and get them dry. This is our fourth time travelling in Sri Lanka, missed our stay here in 2020 hope to be back in the future.

The only thing that could be improved is the breakfast as they don’t offer vegan alternatives but other than that I had a pleasant stay.

Wonderful homestay! The staff and host are so lovely and helpful when it comes to planning the further trip or giving advice about the bus plan. I remember that I was so excited when I first saw the terrace with this amazing view pointing right towards the waterfall. The room was beautiful and so clean. There’s also a beautiful rooftop terrace that can be perfectly used for doing yoga or some meditation. The homestay is placed in between nature so it is a quite long walk from the train station but that didn’t bother us as we got repaid with tranquility because we were far away from all the traffic noises from the busy main street in Ella. The name of this homestay represents it really well.

In the room 4 the window of the bathroom gives view to outside. We put a towel to cover the window and protect our privacy. The first breakfast was toast and the bread was not good.

We were warmly welcome by tea, biscuit and banana. We really appreciate it. The room is clean, with hot water shower, comfortable with fan, mosquito nest and balcony. From the meal table you have a wonderful view. The track to Ella rock is near by. The wifi works well. After our hike to Ella rock, on our return around 12pm we could eat our breakfast. 10 minutes walk from the busy city center.

Laundry services wasn’t the best. A couple of white t-shirts came back with yellow patches.

Wifi works perfectly for video calls and screen sharing. The view is one of the best ones i had since i arrived in sri lanka 3 weeks ago. The rooms and shared spaces are extremely clean! Never seen such a level of cleanliness in Sr Lanka. Bed was comfy, not many mosquitoes. 10-15min walk from the noisy Ella - so quiet and peaceful. Walk on the train tracks for a shortcut :) I would come back anytime!

The only thing was that it was really difficult to get any clear answers from the hosts re: transportation, extending my stay, check out, etc.

The room, staff, views, and cleanliness were tip top. I love that I had access to the kitchen as well. It was a great place to work from and get some quiet and peace. View is outstanding.

We came to Elle feeling very tired and our children really needed a break from traveling so we stayed here for a little over a week. The family and staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. They prepare lovely dinner and awesome breakfast too. The roof terrace is a beautiful place to practice yoga with a view on the waterfall (and Ella Rock), read a book, or run around with your kids until they are tired. The fastest way into town is via the rails. You are in town within 10 minutes walking. All the rooms have a balcony and two rooms have a view of the waterfall 🧡🧡🧡

The bed could be a bit more comfortable and there was a very small leak in the bathroom, but honestly these are small details, I loved every moment in this hotel :)

The rooms with balcony facing the mountains have an amazing view, one of the best for sure, and waking up to that landscape is magical! Large and clean rooms. The service was helpful and very friendly, and the breakfast was great. I felt very welcomed and loved staying there.

The bathroom sink leaked on the floor. Hard beds but very clean.

The view of Ella Rock was definitely brilliant especially from the roof top! Clean bathrooms and communal kitchen with plenty of equipment. Quiet location but quite tricky for a car to get to on the narrow rough road from Ella township, only possible to the top of the steep driveway. Tuk tuks did it easier. The train goes by just above the property several times a day but not during the night when it’s pretty quiet. Excellent value for money!

The location, on the way to Ella Rock, walking distance from the train station, the city, walking distance from town, and the bridge, and little Adam’s Peak, but far enough to be in a quiet, green place. The view is amazing. Delicious breakfast, comfortable bed and very nice hosts. Just perfect, so we stayed one extra night!

If you have difficulties walking this place might be a bit difficult to get there, lots of ups and downs on the way back home , but there is always tuk-tuk.

Brilliant.Stayed 7 days longer than we planned. Homy, quiet place, away from crowds, yet close to all the restaurants and highlights. Indeed it has a brilliant view to mountains and waterfalls. Clean kitchen, fridge and laundry is at your service. The only place in Shri lank we got stable wi- fi to watch movies. Friendly host;-)!

Generally, all Sri Lankan hosts have been kind to me, but this property has exceeded all expectations. I truly felt at home, they helped with both cooking and laundry, and their manager is a very nice guy. The view from 2 of their rooms is astonishing. The place is tranquil, but the center of the town is a 5-minute walk away. A bonus: you may be able to play with their beautiful huge dog if you kindly ask :)

Nothing to complain about

Everything. The place is very comfortable, we had booked all 4 rooms so basically we had the entire apartment with the kitchen. It is 10 Min walking distance from the city centre but it has a great view and waking up surrounded by the nature is just a gift. It is very clean, spacious, all rooms have a terrace and there is also a huge one on the roof top. Even if the breakfast is not included, we could use the kitchen to prepare it ourselves.
