We loved the wildlife, as you can see various Monkeys and more around the Hotel surroundings. The bathroom is open to the elements which means things can come in at night. For example we had frogs entering our bathroom. The staff quickly remove them though so it was not a major issue.

The Buckingham is an exceptional Hotel located on Rekwa Beach near to Tangalle. The service and quality of the Hotel is top notch. Amazing food and breakfasts and beautiful infinity pool overlooking the sea. The rooms are well appointed and the service is outstanding from start to finish.

An absolute Oasis of calm and tranquility but just a tuk tuk ride from the lively beach bars and restaurants. Immaculately and stylishly presented property serviced by the most attentive staff. The food was exceptional with a fabulous menu changing from day to day and we were made to feel extra special as we on our honeymoon ❤️ The pool was excellent and the largest we swam in whilst in SL. The owner Nick was a fabulous host and hopefully we will return again when in this magical country.

What's not to like ?

I'm struggling to think of a more perfect place to relax and unwind. The host, the staff, the food, the location, all perfection. An absolute gem of a place.

We arrived at the property rather tired after a lengthy "marathon" through Sri Lanka touristy hot spots. We find this place to suit our relaxing needs perfectly - no crowds around, no scream noises, no rush. The soothing white noise by background ocean waves, wind, trees, birds! The surrounding beach, the actual place, the well planned, spotless buildings and structures, delicious (delicious, indeed) meals, the professional, attentive, yet not disturbing staff - what can be better than this! And, at the centre of it all - Nick, the owner - such a charismatic person, a pleasure to meet and talk, thank you! The Buckingham Place far exceeded our initial expectations, based on previously read great reviews.

This is a really beautiful hotel with views over both a lagoon and the sea, and with wonderful staff. We had a very restful stay, had some wonderful meals and enjoyed very much taking part in a magical New Year”s eve celebration. We will definitely be back!

Are you crazy?

We never planned to go to Tangalle. Reading the reviews of this property put Tangalle on the radar for us. I read somewhere that Nick (the owner) once said: “I became utterly mesmerized by the chaotic beauty of this island and its peoples’ great charm. From that moment my head, heart, body and soul took root here…” I believe, a part of us took root at Buckingham Place. We shall return. And you, yes you reading this, get your butt over there ASAP!

It's hard to put into words how special our Christmas was here at Buckingham Place. Nick and the team are the most wonderful hosts and the hotel is the perfect venue. We arrived on Christmas Eve a bit earlier than check in but our room was ready and waiting for us. Spending the day strolling along the stunning beach, exploring the hotel's gardens and relaxing in the infinity pool was pure bliss. Christmas Day itself was magical. Nick and his team really thought of everything from a stocking filled with local produce and a card signed by the whole team to mince pies and sherry round the pool. The hotel oozes warmth and excellence and the Christmas feast certainly lived up to these qualities! Our final morning was spent with Bella, the resident pup, who took us for our final beach stroll. Buckingham Place really is a slice of paradise in Sri Lanka: a dream come true stay. Thank you so much Nick and the team.

There is nothing not to like, it is perfect in every way.

The photographs do not do this place justice - Buckingham Place is such a haven of tranquility and calm that is so difficult to find in hotels nowadays. The beautiful beach with not a soul in sight, the incredible view and pool, the amazing food. The staff were so thoughtful, kind and attentive. The general manager was lovely, as were the wider staffing team, they couldnt do enough for you. And the owner, Nick, is a great guy to chat with. We only stayed for a couple of nights but I wish I had booked longer! It was a real oasis, and probably the biggest surprise of our three week trip in Sri Lanka.

Absolutely nothing that I didn’t like.

The entire experience was fabulous, the rooms were large, quiet and comfortable, the meals were all prepared fresh and tasted incredible. The owner, Nick, was there throughout our 5 day stay and made sure that everything was perfect for us, and finally all the staff were incredibly efficient, kind and friendly.
