Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalPerfect stay! Amazing host that organized the safari for us at a good price, with an experienced driver with an eagle eye. Great homemade meals, including a take away breakfast for the safari. The room was big and clean, and the location couldn't be better, right next to the entrance of Udawalawe Park.

RomaniaNothing… Buddika is the best!
The place was perfect! But the biggest advantage of this accommodation is Buddika himself! He is very friendly, funny, trustworthy, and helpful. When we arrived at his place, he took care of everything we needed (safari, guide, taxi with childseat, food for us and our daughter), so even if we stayed one night, he made us feel very relaxed so we could just enjoy each moment there because we knew he was taking care of everything else. He even helped us a few days later, when we were in Nuwara Elyia! Our host there couldn’t help, so I wrote to Buddika, and he immediately arranged everything we needed! He is amazing!! He arranged the safari for us with a great guy. I forgot his name, but he was very experienced and knew a lot about animals. At some point, during the safari, there was a moment when there was an elephant that was a little dangerous because it was mating time, but our driver knew exactly how to react and behave to stay safe, so we felt very lucky to have such an experienced driver with us! The accommodation itself is very clean and comfortable. Buddika arranged lunch, dinner, and breakfast for our family, and they were all good and at a reasonable price.

We had a wonderful stay! Perfect location minutes away from the entrance of Udawalawa National Park. Hotel has spacious clean rooms with comfortable beds. Buddika arranged a safari for our family with an extremely knowledgeable guide. He also provided us a delicious boxed breakfast to take along with us. We ate lunch and dinner at the hotel as well and highly enjoyed the home cooked meals. Buddika took us on some excursions around the town which our children highly enjoyed. Especially the elephant orphanage. He also helped us with transportation arrangements. Very happy to have stayed with Buddika!

NetherlandsNot necessarily related to the accommodation, but the elephant transit (orphanage) in Udawalawe town was quite disappointing. Incredibly crowded and the elephants were not treated as well as we hoped. If you visit this area, I recommend sticking to the safari instead which was awesome.
Stayed here for 3 nights with my toddler. Amazing place right next to the national park, very quiet except for sounds of nature. We saw an elephant right outside the front gate. The host family is incredibly kind and welcoming, we felt right at home and a big bonus was the children could play together. Buddika arranged a brilliant safari with an excellent driver, and advised on the best hours to go. It seemed like many guests stayed for just a quick night to go on the safari and then be on their way, but I wholeheartedly recommend this place for a few more days! Although there are a few other things to do in the area, it was also a perfect place to just hang out and relax. The room was huge and felt very fancy compared to some other accommodations on our trip. Good and quiet airconditioning, a table with a kettle and plenty space to put/hang your own stuff. Both the bedroom and bathroom were very clean and modern.

GermanyI really enjoyed my stay at Buddika Safari & Resort. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. They have clean and nice, big rooms. They arranged a safari for me last minute, which was very cool. Its also very close to the national park, so no long drive before the safari starts. I‘m happy that I chose this accommodation!

United KingdomGreat place to stay for Udawalawe Safari, with the park entrance being just up the road ... really close. My ground floor room at the back of the garden area was really clean and spacious. The food was gorgeous. Little touches like the plug sockets having options for various types of plugs and also USB slots just made it that little bit better than other places I'd stayed whilst travelling around Sri Lanka. Highly recommended. Loved my stay at Buddika. Opposite the main entrance is the park perimeter fence and I even saw an elephant or 2 before I'd done the safari!
