Hotel really needs a refurb. Pictures are a bit deceiving as we were quite surprised with the condition of the hotel on arrival. There are some really nice hotels in Bentota, so Centara’s prices should really reflect the condition of the property in comparison to its competitors.

Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The housekeeping is great and the pool is really big. The food is okay.

The first day we dropped our children (5 year old twins) to the Kids Club there was a woman present to supervise. We returned in about 1 hour to pick up the kids, and the kids were left in a room all alone. There were no adults present. We waited around a bit to see if someone would show up, or if we needed to sign them out but no one showed up so we picked up our children and left. We immediately asked to speak to the manager to explain that this is totally unacceptable to leave children there unattended - it never happened again during our stay. The beach had no chairs or umbrellas at all, which is extremely strange for a beach front property. It was so hot, with no area for shade that we never were able to use the beach our entire stay. Our housekeeper introduced himself to us and let us know he would be cleaning our room each day. He was very friendly and each day asked us if the room was okay, in which we always said yes. However, the morning before our last night at the hotel - there was a different cleaner(maybe the head of housekeeping?), knocked at our day and asked how everything was. I opened the door in my pajamas, he asked if he could come in even after I told him my husband was still sleeping but he still shook my hand as if to gesture please let me in, in which I did let him step in while the door was still open. He presented me with a pen and pad and asked me to write a review because this was him and our original cleaners last day(were going on holiday). I told him I will return it later - in which he asked could he have it in 10 minutes. It was a really strange and inappropriate interaction that should never happen in a hotel. I have worked in hospitality for years, and housekeeping should never be asking for a review and/or tips. Also, during breakfast while we were still eating and serving ourselves at the buffet, I noticed multiple staff members in full uniform serving themselves breakfast right beside us.

The hotel arrival and check-in was lovely, as we crossed a river on a boat to arrive to the lobby entrance where we participated in a candle lighting upon entrance. Our family suite was a perfect size for a family of four. We had a room divider (sliding door) to separate the master bedroom and ensuite from the kids room/living area with sofa. Our children loved the pool and we enjoyed spending our days near the kids pools and kids bar.

The kids club was unstaffed. Many times kids were left alone. My child lost her shoes the first day. There were many times when there was only 1 staff member and over 10 kids.

It was in a great location for kids. Everything was a tuk tuk ride away. They were right outside the resort waiting. The pool was large with many kid areas. The staff were mostly really helpful. .

Uber drivers were cancelling rides to colombo because they said the security doesn’t let them come to the hotel . The person at the hotel reception was more interested to lend his car for 20,000 where as Uber was costing 8000, The room with ocean view was dusty and not prepared for our arrival. My father has dust allergy and cough the very next morning.

It was quite pricey compared to other similar hotels we stayed at during our trip to Sri Lanka, although this was partly due to the Christmas period.

The location was great as is set right on the beachfront, and the boat trip to reach the hotel is a nice touch. We enjoyed the water sports and the swim-up bar.

Food quality and variety wasn’t really good, especially for vegetarians. Food certainly needs improvement. Very importantly we realised that the going tariff was usd 180 plus taxes per night room for triple sharing while booking.com ripped us by charging usd 408. Didn’t realise earlier that booking.com was so unfair.

Location, staff were amazing especially the cleaning staff. Overall they were very helpful throughout our stay including helping us when are 6 yr old was unwell. Special mention to Samantha and Suresh from cleaning staff.

Hotel is very dated and needs refreshing, looking quite tired in places. Outside the hotel you are harassed constantly by taxi drivers at the front and we had several bad experiences. Bentota town is very busy and people follow you around. The beach side is much nicer and quieter

Some things to improve - service at breakfast could include waiters walking around with water to refill glasses and black coffee. Line for coffee is ridiculous and especially for people who just want a regular cup.

We like the family room on the ground floor and the size of the pool.

We booked an ocean view room, but the view was blocked by trees. Still nice but should not be advertised as an ocean view. Could have better after dinner activities

Location was amazing, right next to one of the cleanest beaches I have ever been to! Breakfast buffet was excellent, especially the freshly made Hoppers! Staff was very friendly. Nice big rooms, very spacious and comfy! Pool bar was excellent

Certain parts of the hotel is a bit dated. I am sure this is common, maybe a revamp of certain areas should be considered.

We had a great stay here, the beach was easy to access. The pool facilities also easy to access. All facilities were clean and neat. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. On arrival the most beautiful lamp lighting ceremony was held with the reception staff, we all felt very special. The arrival on the jetty, you transported on a boat to the hotel reception. This also adds to the excitement of the stay! The rooms were very comfortable, The breakfast selections were vast! Really good overall.

i didnt like the fact that i had to try to call more than once before my call would be answered. and another note is the way they wash the glasses in my room, he cleaned them in front of me using his hands, this wasnt acceptable for me and i didnt drink any coffee in room afterwards.

I noticed that the hotel had a persistent problem with high humidity, causing the floors and windows to be constantly wet. Furthermore, the food served was of very poor quality.

Overall, the hotel provides a good experience. It features clean rooms with friendly and helpful staff. The pool is a nice addition, while the gym is of average quality.

Very busy hotel so not a good option if you prefer quiet time. English understanding at the Al a carte restaurant is limited so paying the bill separately was a painful experience
