The breakfast and lunch menu were a bit uninspired. Absolutely fine, but not inviting or exciting.

The pool was spectacular. Overall, the facilities were beautiful. The milk rice was excellent. The dining staff were wonderful. We really really appreciated the delicious gift of home-made cookies on departure.

In general the hotel / gym / spa / pool area looks a bit old but the staff try their best to keep everything clean.

We stayed there for 2 nights to go on Safari and the hotel is old but still very nice. The staff has been very friendly and helpful, especially to my partner who is celiac and had some questions for dinner and breakfast. Both days the manager / chef explained in detail the food buffet and have been very understanding.

Dinner room. Full with smoke. Chef was grilling meat without any cooker hood. There was no kitchen, just open grill in indoor hall. That's very strange and even dangerous.

Set menu option in restaurant was not great. Was very quiet when we stayed and this seemed to be reflected in the food and overall experience. Hotel needs to consider being more competitive with exchange rates and taxi services etc. This would drive far more business.

Restaurant staff constantly hovering, it was annoying. Room cleaning was too late in the day, only one side of bed had bedside table / light controls. Bathroom decor was dazzling and shower pressure wasn’t great.

The bed could have a little softer but we did not mention this to the staff as I am sure they would have changed it.

Location of the hotel being close to the national park and elephant transit centre is a bonus. Hotel is very quiet and set in an area full of wildlife especially birds. Room had a double aspect overlooking the lake and distance hill country. Service from staff was very good especially from Chanaka (the captain) and Ravindra the manager.

The breakfast was a bit ordinary for those of us with more western style tastes. We also found that we were best placed to eat the Sri Lankan options on the menu as they were delicious compared to the other food. The hotel is away from the main town so you are a little bit trapped in terms of food options if you don't have any transport.

Lovely older style hotel with incredibly attentive staff. The room had the most stunning views over the national park and you could see elephants at twilight. The pool was perfect and we often had it to ourselves.
