Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaThe floor could be cleaned more often.
Located outside of Jaffna town, off the main road, easily accessable by bus. Owner Dilan is very helpful, arranges Jaffna islands and Point Pedro round trips with tuktuk. Also could use a bicycle for extended excursions. The train line behind the house was not disturbing as trains do not operate during night. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Dilan is also owner of D'Villa Garden House. I recommend staying here.

United KingdomNeed to chill to the bakers van and dogs serenading quieter than the Baker 😆 in the early morning
Very supportive staff. Jaffna was extremely hot so accommodation was welcoming at the end of the day. We had air conditioning and you need this in Jaffna. There are fans in shared areas and one on covered balcony was excellent in the evening so do find the switch if sitting there in the evening. The breakfast was excellent and house keeper cheerful and excellent customer care, special homemade sunday treat.. We stayed 5 days while exploring Jaffna. Showers brilliant you don't need to use the heated ones as the water comes out of the mains one nicely warm and powerful.not like uk.. Dried our clothes over day in the bathroom. Family very welcoming, gave advice and on hand when needed. Home is in a residential area just off the main Hospital road leading to Jaffna city centre with buses and tuk tuks available e.g. 300 lkr tuk tuk to centre. You could walk but bit hot. Would not have liked to stay in central Jaffna, dusty and noisy. We had a car but supplemented with tuk tuk. Jaffna is so hot but we found some Oasis delights- Springs and Temple near Pedro point just like old sea filled baths in Cornwall ..womens enclosed with showers, just wear long dress or light pants and top. Jetwing Jaffna roof bar great views and cool breeze, omelette and drinks not expensive. Lavins oposite Nullar Kovil temple, jucies, deserts and meals just that bit different from lunch time local eateries went 5 times once we found it. Island hopping via car. You could probably hire a tuk tuk to island hop. Beautiful and just attached by causeway near the Fort. People very friendly and hard working. Sunsets brilliant by Fort and park in the evenings. Library a good place to shade.

GermanySome moskitos and other insects. Room Nr.2 gets noise from the AC machines so avoid it unless you use AC yourself.
Nice rooms, and lobby decent location, water and tea for free, bicyles available, very friendly owner. I wanted to stay for 3 nights and ended up staying 6, as I could not find a better place in the area. Jaffna town has a pleasant liveliness and a few highlights, like the Dutch Fort, the fishing port, the market, some temples, the Malaysian Cafe, but the magic only starts if you rent a scooter and explore the shores and beaches around. Go to Point San Pedro, Msmatkedu beach, Keerimalai temple and pool, Delft or better Nainativu island, Kovalam lighthouse etc. It is a beautiful part of this beautiful country.

GermanyNot many food options in walking distance. Generally a bit far away from the Center. In that regard compared to other places in Sri Lanka a bit too expensive. In Jaffna there are not too many alternatives, though.
Clean, big room. Friendly owner. Close to a train station. Nothing to complain really.

GermanyThe room could have been a bit more clean. But overall it was ok.
The guesthouse is run by a very nice Gentlemen called Dilan. He organized a wonderful day trip with a TukTuk and a super guide for us (Shiva). The breakfast was super nice and he also helped us to rent a scooter. And they also offer laundry service. We could use the common fridge and water kettle.
