Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThis place is really part of the forest. Sitting out on the patios you can hear and see animals trees, plants, lizards and fantastic birds. You can also walk the small roads for animal sightings and beautiful views. And still walk to town easily. Gihan and family are welcoming, kind and generous with their time. I went on 2 forest hikes with Gihan, as guide, and I saw and learned so much. He is very knowledgeable and committed to people seeing and understanding the value of the forest. The driver of tuk tuk that Gihan organizes is a superb driver who is also part of what makes this place special. The rooms are clean and comfortable and food is good and plentiful.

SloveniaThe host organized us a tour in the Sinharajah rainforest. Unfortunately the guide didn't speak English the best and the whole experience was honestly slightly underwhelming.
Great breakfast and dinner provided. Also the host helped us getting a tuk tuk. Room and bathroom were clean and there was a nice terrace.

PanamaGihan and his family are extremly welcoming and nice. They made delicious local dinners and breakfast, showed me around the beautiful garden and river behind the house and really provided with everything I needed. Gihan also took me to the jungle for a trekking which was really beautiful. He's very knowledgeable about the forest and the area and also does a lot of conservation work to protect this important habitat. I can recommed anyone that is looking for a simple and authentic homestay close to Sinharaja to stay with Gihan. The prices for the accommodation, food and jungle trek were all more than reasonable and worth every penny. Bohoma stuti Gihan!

New ZealandI had such a lovely stay! The family are so sweet and welcoming. I was sick for some of the stay and they made me a herbal tea to help. The food is amazing and the place was clean too. The garden is beautiful and there is a seated area next to the room where you can watch the birds and monkeys. Lots of frogs and squirrels too. Plus the surrounding area is amazing and the house is located near rice paddies and a river with waterfalls. Gihan took me on a guided tour to the rainforest and was so knowledgeable about the rainforest and its wildlife. It was so nice to meet some other guides and see people so dedicated to wildlife and conservation. Overall such a lovely stay and I learnt a lot! Thanks so much!!

Amazing stay which we will never forget. We stayed for 3 nights and had really nice time here. The owner helped us to arrange our whole programme in Deniyaya. He arranged the tour to rainforest Sinharaja (he ordered tuktuk and guidance), also he took us to the tea factory Lumbini Tea Valley which was really perfect experience! He also showed us local waterfall where we swam and he showed us all the local fruits and spices. We tried cinnamon, cardamon, guava, passionfruit,... Breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious. Probably best curry we had in SriLanka. Also pancakes with coconut and honey were unforgettable. We recommend this staying because this guy will make your stay unforgettable and exiting!

United Kingdomif you’re looking for luxury then perhaps this isn’t the place for you. the facilities are totally sufficient and importantly they are clean, but you might not enjoy if you are used to staying in plush hotels.
Gihan was an excellent host with a friendly and welcoming family, and he serves up delicious Sri Lankan breakfasts and dinners. He helped me arrange a guide to show me around Singharaja rainforest and even cooked me a packed lunch to take on the journey. The facilities were basic but clean and homely. the place has a beautiful garden and staying there you feel truly immersed in nature: at night you fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle outside, and in a the morning you awake to peacock calls. If you’re looking to visit the Rainforest I would highly recommend Deniyaya Guest House.

I liked the warm reception from the moment I arrived, through the duration of my stay . The hosts are extremely warm and friendly people do whatever it takes to making your stay comfortable. If you looking accommodation near Sinharaja forest this is the right plase. If you looking for experience guide in Sinharaja forest than Gihan is right person for you. Beds were very comfortable and the water pressure was great and HOT . Tanu is preparing most delicious meals I have eat in Sri Lanka. I was really enjoying siting at terrace in the morning, drinking tea and watching birds. Wont be disappointed staying here. I would definitely come back. Gihan&Tanu thank you from my ❤

NetherlandsWe found it a pretty long drive to the park entrance. Roads have been improved recently though, so it wasn’t a big deal. However next time we might choose for one of the accommodations that are near the park gate nowadays. And finally, bear in mind that jungle comes with bugs, wherever you stay…
Superb hospitality, very friendly family to stay with, delicious homely cooked food. Via the guesthouse we booked a beautiful trekking of about 5 hours in the Sinharaja Rainforest, which was a great experience. Also transportation to our next destination they arranged for us. The room and facilities were basic but perfectly for one night. It’s good to know that this indeed is more a homestay (i.e. a room in the house of a local family) than a guesthouse. There’s a nice covered sitting area outside next to the beautiful garden, perfect to enjoy the heavy monsoon rains… Highly recommendable place to stay!
