Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe prices for the bungalow are very good, unfortunately value for money was not good at dinner ($12 for two simple vegetarian kottu).
The accommodation has two modern, spacious and very well-equipped bungalows including own bathroom and terrace just outside of Udawalawa. There is a mosquito net - and a small cold waterfall in the bathroom, next to the warm shower. The owner family is very friendly and accommodating, not intrusive when booking safari tours.

United Arab EmiratesLocation can be tricky unless you are coming only for the safari like we did. Then it’s completely fine being in the middle of nowhere in nature.
Beautiful, clean, modern place with AC. Great hospitality by the host family. We have also booked an amazing half day safari with them.

GermanyThe area around is a local neighborhood. It’s quite a bit to walk to the next restaurant.
The host is gorgeous, he just opened this place beginning of this year. His mum cooks wonderful breakfast and also dinner (if you want) and they even celebrated Sri Lankan new year with us lightening some fireworks. The cottages are super nice and the garden with the big hammock are unique. We also did safari to a reasonable price and loved it. Wonderful experience with a heartwarming family.

AustraliaNothing to dislike. I loved everything 😍
I had an exceptional stay at Edenhaven Cottage. 😍 Ajun (the manager/owner) was very welcoming and made me feel safe and comfortable. The room is spacious, modern and beautifully decorated. There is a unique and stylish outside area of the property that looks onto nature. Perfect for relaxing. Out of all the places I stayed in Sri Lanka this was my favourite. Ajun also organised a safari for me for a fair price. Breakfast is served at the property which was the best I had in all the properts I stayed in Sri Lanka. Lunch and dinner are also available for a very reasonable price and it was absolutely delicious 😋 😋. Ajun really went above and beyond to make my stay a memorable one in Udawalawe without being invasive of my space. I got to meet his mother and father and brother who were also beautiful, kind and caring people. ❤️ I feel like I have a family to return to when I return to Sri Lanka. I hope you enjoy your stay at Edenhaven Cottage as much as I did. 😊

OmanWe loved the peaceful location. Nicely tucked away but still only a short distance from the park. Anju and his family were fantastic hosts. His Mums cooking was superb! The safari Anju arranged for us was brilliant. He took us to some lovely secluded spots, including right next to a lake for a picnic lunch he had prepared for us. We managed to see; elephants-(lost count of how many), crocodiles, mongoose, jackal, wild boar, deer, peacocks, green bee eaters, blue long tailed bee eaters, tortoise, toucan, two types of monkeys, hawk eagles, painted stork, green parrots, monitor lizards, kingfisher and fish that went crazy for leftover pancakes! We will definitely recommend EdenHaven to any family and friends looking to visit Sri Lanka who want to experience a safari and unique, family run accommodation.

AustriaOur host and his team was very nice and caring - we were welcomed with drinks and a very delicios meal, we also booked a safari for the next day. Our host and his driver were definitely the most prudent and careful team of all safari-teams that day, therefore we got to see all of the animals of Udawalawa-nationalpark.

Czech RepublicBest accomodation we had in Sri Lanka! Even though we stayed only one night, owner arranged for us half day morning safari even if we arrived late evening. The accomodation is really nice, clean and spacey. Owner also provided us with tea and juice as welcome drink. He also left us to use a bathroom after the safari although It was already after check out. He also arranged for us a drive with his family to the bus station for free. Safari was great experience with the owner and his uncle with amazing breakfest in the jungle. Thank you for amazing stay! We would definitely recommend staying here!

United KingdomWe loved everything about our 2 night stay at EdenHaven Cottage. Anju and his family are very kind and welcoming and they have created an amazing space to host guests. The two cottages are well designed, clean and comfortable with everything you need. The outdoor garden area is wonderful and we appreciated Anju walking us around pointing out the various different fruits and spices which his family have been growing for years. We had dinner both nights and the food was some of the best local food we have eaten during our one month stay in Sri Lanka. We really enjoyed eating breakfast and dinner on our own private veranda which is part of the cottage. We did a half day morning safari with Anju (tour guide) and his uncle (driver) along with two other guests and we had the most amazing time. We were very lucky to see lots of wildlife (adult elephants, baby elephants, wild boars, deers, crocodiles, eagles, jackals, peacocks, water buffalos etc). It is clear to see that Anju and his uncle know every corner of the national park and they will do their absolute best to ensure that you see as much wildlife as possible. We have already recommended EdenHaven Cottage to our friends and family.

The cottage is located in a beautiful green area. The bed and the pillows were super comfortable. The bathroom is modern, there was even a hairdryer, the first I saw on my Sri Lanka trip. Breakfast was delicious. In the garden there are big hamacas where you can take your siesta.

BelgiumThere were so many choices for a place to stay for a safari but this one is the perfect one! Very calm place surrounded by nature, very clean and delicious local food! They arranged the half day safari for us with a breakfast in a private place in the park which was great! The family is the most adorable, we really felt home! We even had the opportunity to learn how to cook sri lankan with them😍 The son is the one who imagined and created the cottage which makes it even a better place. They give all their heart to it! We were sad leaving this place! Thank you for everything & we hope to come back to see you all soon!

GermanyThe only thing I didn't like so much, was the seating area outside: made of wood and not so comfortable...
Very beautiful cottage with fridge, kettle, mosquitonet and hairdryer. Hot water in a big bathroom, comfortable mattress. Very friendly owner and delicious food, cooked by his mum. Booked a safari with him, which was really great. Very quiet area, a hammock in the garden to relax, absolutely recommended.

GermanyThere was only a thick blanket on the bed, which was too warm. A thin sheet to lay under would have been better.
Quiet location with lovely outdoor space. Room+bathroom were clean and comes with AC, mosquito net and even a fridge. Very friendly staff that give us complementary welcome drink and the owner arranged everything for us, including lunch on arrival (7USD/2200LKR), the safari (60-67 USD for 5h). He even went out of his way to drop us off in the city centre (free!).
