Best Value If You Want To Spend The Night In Pinnawala
    • Leisure trip
    • Solo traveller
    • Superior Double Room
    • Stayed 1 night

This is more about the town. Practically everything in the town except a couple of restaurants and a small Food City closes down after 5 pm when the elephants return to the orphanage. The hotel itself is quite quiet. The communication with the staff was a bit difficult so I ended up just not ordering breakfast.

For the price point, this is the best place to stay if you're planning to visit Pinnawala. If you want to see the elephants walking through the town, get a balcony room or just sit by the eating area. You also have access to the river area where the elephants bathe, without having to pay for the orphanage fee.

Lock on the door was a bit stuck.

Omg what an absolute gem, our favourite accommodation of the whole trip, we had a balcony view of the street so we could see the elephants walking by to go to the river, the room was amazing, big comfy bed, good air con, massive bathroom and it was so spacious. Didn't try the food but you can dine on a balcony overlooking the street also. Staff are really nice as well, there were some young lads working there this week they helped us with our bags and directions to our next destination, can't remember there names but they are a credit to the business

This is not the fault of the lodge but the weather was extremely hot and the aircon struggled. Our room had a balcony on the street side but also hot afternoon sun.

The staff , the location and size of room were good. Big thanks to Hashinta for his help. We did not have breakfast as there were better value breakfasts elsewhere.

The shower was outside the room and it was shared with other room but still was all the time clean and also was confortable because it was a big space to enjoy while taking a shower due to the hot weather.

I love the kind attention and support given, even I arrived late and they were so willing to wait for me and they guided me. The location was perfect just some steps away from the river the elephants take their daily baths.

The only thing maybe I will improve is the breakfast , because it is nice but maybe it isn't worth the price.

Location is perfect for the elephant, staff super friendly even with a basic level of english. Nimesh, the host, was one of the most helpful people I ever met. Place clean and with all the things you need , super recommended and price so good!

Nothing really - it’s value for what you pay.

Excellent location on the route the Pinnawala elephants are walked twice a day (8.30 & 4) close to where they bathe. Also a short (10-15 min) tuktuk ride from the Elephant Freedom Project, which I’d highly recommend. Spacious room with a balcony overlooking street, had the basics covered. Staff were great - we accidentally left some cash behind in the room & were able to collect it later.

This is a really great place with a very convenient location, you can go see the elephants at any time without an entrance ticket. From our balcony we saw elephants several times a day. We arrived early in the morning, because our plane arrived in Sri Lanka at 4 am, but we were able to immediately settle. During our stay, the lock broke and we were kindly offered to change the room, but it was evening and we did not want to move things. The staff informed us how to get further. We ordered breakfast for 1500 rupees, but it was poor (1 egg, lots of bread, butter, jam, some watermelon and coffee), we left the table feeling hungry. I want to say thank you to the owners of this place, you are great people and I will recommend your hotel to friends.
