The water pressure sometimes wasn't great. Could use the kettle, but not much more from the kitchen.

This is a very spacious hostel tucked away from the main town of Ella. The rooms are big and comfy and there are a few common areas that makes it possible to spread out if you want to be by yourself, or gather round together for a fun evening or joint breakfast. The hosts are lovely, friendly people always keen to help and have a good laugh. When I was here the hostel was pretty much empty, so they moved me to a better dorm where I had the whole place to myself with a private bathroom.

I was in an outdoor dorm which meant I had to travel out of my room down to the bathroom which wasn’t ideal, especially at night. I won’t say much else on that other than: BUGS.

The breakfast, the location (being so close to Ella Rock and the train track walk) and the kind and caring staff. Ella Escapades was a home away from home, a serene escape tucked amongst lush greenery. I adored my stay here and have been recommending it to anyone that tells me they are headed to Ella.

If I went there again I'd choose a smaller room because we were at the end of my stay 10 people in the room.

It's 30 min walking from the center in the train wrecks which is perfect, the landscape is so beautiful and calm. You meet so many people travelling with you and the installations are perfect

The 4 bed dorm was smelling a bit chemical, they offered air freshener but I switched to the 8 bed dorm which was a lot nicer. There is not always hot water and beware of that it is quite far from the city. This is also why it is so nice and quiet, but think before you hike your 45minutes.

This place is so nice, really felt like a new family! Ended up staying an extra day. Beautiful view, nice homecooked food every evening! One afternoon I was just reading my book and got complimentary coffee, so sweet! Close to the start of Ella Rock hike

The location in terms of convenience wasn't ideal, but the nature and peace it granted was easy to adjust to and embrace

Loved my stay here. A little bit of a walk from Ella along the train tracks, but the peace and views make up for it. The staff are so kind, the lunch/dinner is exceptional, and the dorm I was in was clean and spacious with lockers, hot water, and great views and natural light.

Amazing hostel- everything about it was fantastic! I booked for two nights but ended up staying 11 lol. The host is v friendly, the hostel is a very easy place to relax and its a really nice walk along the railway lines to get to Ella town centre (40mins). Some nice restaurants along the way too (River Face). Socialble hostel, they provide a free breakfast and a cheap dinner (500-700 rupees). Good location for Ella Rock sunrise hike too:)

Bathroom water is cold and hot water is not working for the cheaper dorm shared bathroom. But it seemed to work for the other people :)

Really authentic location! Most people access the hostel by walking along the train tracks. It felt very different and never experienced a stay feeling like this. few restaurants 5 min walk (along the train track) from the hostel. You can see the train passing by from the hostel. Location is just absolutely priceless. Good location if you want to do Ella Rock for sunrise. Very social hostel where you can meet many people. Lovely staff and nice breakfast.

Really we weren’t too bothered but the WiFi sometimes dipped in and out but it’s such a great hostel so we didn’t need wifi really.

We were recommended this hostel by people in tissamaharama and we were so happy when we arrived! It’s nicely out the way of Ella as Ella itself can be a bit touristic, it’s in a beautiful location right on the train track. Also the trail head for Ella rock is almost directly outside so perfect for the sunrise hike up there. The train tracks are a lovely walk into Ella or the train station is about 8 mins walk from the hostel. It has a great social aspect and we met some wonderful people. Free water and breakfast, lovely clean rooms and friendly staff! We loved it here can’t recommend it more. Also make sure to check out some hikes around Ella! Stunning

The accommodation was perfect! It is about a half hour walk from Ella town and perfect to avoid the tourist bubble. I met some great people here. The host is incredible and helps organize your stay it is a very laid back atmosphere. Would definitely stay here again!

I didn’t mind it but it is definitely worth noting that it’s about a 40 minute walk to Ella town along the tracks. Perfectly safe and quite beautiful, but not exactly convenient if you’re looking to be able to pop in and out for a midday rest or anything.

The property is nestled on the hillside overlooking the train tracks and local farms, and it’s a great option for anyone looking to have a peaceful stay and take in the natural beauty of Ella. The owner is outstanding and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is comfortable and accomplishing all they wish to do and see while in Ella. Located very close to the trailhead to Ella Rock, the owner woke up with us and personally guided us halfway up the mountain for our sunrise trek, which was immensely helpful as the path is difficult to find in the daylight, near impossible in the dark. I had dinner here two nights and it was delicious- Sri Lankan curries with roti!

Had an amazing experience at ella escapade:) the place was really comfortable and cozy, also had an eye catching view from the place..the staff was really helpful, special credits must go to dayarathna uncle and the chef for providing us with all the facilities and delicious meals. highly recommended for anyone who is looking for a place at ella:)

Everything! Location was perfect - a bit of a bumpy drive though , yet easily accessibly via a 10 minute walk on the train track from Kithal Ella station. My favorite part of the hostel though is the staff, especially Dayarathna uncle who went above and beyond. I was a bit sick, and he made sure I had hot water every time, tea, and medicine. And also him and his team cooked really yummy food for us and even gave us some sandwiches for free to eat on the train back to Colombo. The hostel itself is cool, a refurbished colonial house that's 100s of years old. Clean, comfortable, and overall a great experience.

Fantastic hostel and the staff went above and beyond. Took us part way up Ella Rock, suggested things to do without too much pressure. Really lovely hostel set up with great communal space. 25 min walk along beautiful train tracks to Ella. Great breakfast. Would love to go back!
