Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Sri Lankanothing.
The hosts Mr. & Mrs. Laleen were very welcoming and helpful and made us feel like home, the home stay annex was quite spacious and met all our requirements. home made meals were provided on request. The big mango tree on the property provided much needed shade during the searing heat which was the only discomfort.

Hosts Lal, Suba and their kids were amazing. They were able to give us delicious home cooked food in the regional style which was greatly appreciated. They were the warmest hosts imaginable and gave us all the local info. Food was excellent. Thank you for an amazing stay.

MaldivesWe can't think of anything.
This is a family run homestay style accommodation, on the first floor above the main accommodation and reached by a flight of outdoor stairs. It's a single room with an en-suite bathroom and a separate sitting area. The owners went over and above to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. They arranged rental bicycles at our request and prepared home cooked delicious and authentic Sri Lankan breakfast and dinner for us. The place is on the outskirts of Mannar town away from road traffic and therefore very quiet. We have seen the locals using TukTuks and they are easy to get if required.

A great place for a short or a longer stay. A room with your own separate small sitting-area with a sofa and a table.. Possible to bring and make your own te/coffee(water-kettle) and a zink to wash-up. Balcony. A great host-family!!

NetherlandsEverything was great
This beautiful place has everything that you're looking for in a guesthouse. The room is spacious, it's private and is kept immaculate. But perhaps most important is the lovely family running it. They are warm-hearted, polite and caring people that make you feel at home right away. We originally booked for 1 night but decided to book an extra night (we would have loved to stay longer but unfortunately we visited everything Mannar had to offer). Definitely book a night or two with them when you're in the area or on your way to Jaffna. You won't regret it!

Sri LankaWe were as excited as nervous and certain when we eventually decided to go on a two-day trip to visit Taleimannar pier and the other attractions nearby for the first time in our lives. The train tickets having been booked, we started searching for a good place to stay on Booking.com. Among a few hotels and guest houses, we found Enoch Guest House in Mannar to be the best. When we rang him first, our host Lali (Lalindhran) answered all our questions in a clear and friendly tone and he’s been kind and hospitable to all three of us – myself and my colleagues, Jayashantha and Prabhath ever since. We caught the Taleimannar train in the afternoon of Friday, 17th of November 2023 from the Colombo-fort railway station and got down at Mannar around 11.15 that night. Upon Lali’s instructions, a tuk-tuk driver rode us to Enoch guest house which is some 2.5km away from the Mannar railway station. Lali greeted us warmly at the gate and we briefly exchanged pleasantries with him and his wife. Both of were friendly and pleasant and it didn’t take us long to realise that they were such a lovely bunch of people. Lali shepherded us into the upstairs room we had booked. It was such a nice and spacious place and so well-furnished and impeccably clean that it beat our highest expectations. Undoubtedly, it was totally worth what it’d cost us and we were truly delighted. The next morning, Lali arranged for us a tuk-tuk which took us to a bus-stop nearby where we caught a bus headed for Taleimannar pier and then we visited all the places just as we’d planned and Lali had told us. The impending rain kept us from visiting the Keeri beach, so we returned to the guest house around 2.30 pm. We had a great chat with Lali, his two lovely kids and his wife and he told us how he’d fled to India and lived for some five years in a refugee camp there during the early 1990s when the war raged in the Mannar island. For dinner that night, he served us poori, crispy and scrumptious, with a delectable po
