Very friendly owners, amazing view from the rooms, which are mostly in glass, very good food and fruit juices, beautiful garden with a wide variety of fruit tree and tea plants. An very nice assortment of hikes and things to do, 11/10, would recommend!

We had a great stay at Evergreen. The owner also took us on a walking safari of the park, which was amazing. The safari exceeded all of our expectations, and we saw a huge number and variety of animals and loved swimming in a waterfall at the end. The hotel was comfortable and food was good. Overall, a really nice visit!

Fridge access could be better and Amenities in the room. They did provide an extension cord and electric kettle upon request though.

The view from our patio was breath taking, and the glass doors looking out at the view made it even more special, because it feels like you are close to the jungle even indoors. You get to see several species of birds right from there in the mornings. Saman, our host was very accommodating and his brother Pradeep took us on our jungle tour and we had a great time. There’s a hotel close by where you can pay to use the pool as well.

That we couldn’t stay longer!!

My daughter and myself had a fantastic stay here. The room was very clean and comfortable and the view was stunning. Saman and his family really looked after us and we felt very welcomed from the moment we arrived. The home cooked food was delicious with very generous portions. We did a 6 hour trek into the rainforest which was fantastic. We had a truly wonderful time. Thank you!

The windows of the bathroom are open to the fresh air without a screen fitted. While this was not a problem during our stay, it could potentially allow mosquitoes to enter.

Very close to the forest reserve. The host arranged an excellent 6 hour tour of the forest with a knowledgeable and very helpful guide. Plenty of wildlife including lovely views from the room and patio area. The host was very attentive.

Nothing - wish we could have stayed longer.

The room was large and comfortable with absolutely beautiful views. The glass walls afforded a lot of light as well as the views. The food was delicious and the family very warm and welcoming. We had a great guided walk in the rainforest and saw various lizards, snakes, birds, insects and even a tarantula skin which apparently they discard as they grow. A really memorable experience.

The location was perfect. Walking distance to the forest as well as to the village. Magnificent view from the room and the terrace. The host takes care of everything and is an excellent guide. The food was delicious and the family takes care of you. The best mixed juices in Sri Lanka.

If we must give some advice then it would be to make sure to serve hot food straight from the kitchen stove. Other than that, the food itself was deliciously prepare by the father of the family.!

Perfect experience! Modern and very clean rooms with all comfort and a magnificent view over the river valley. Zaman was a very friendly and correct host/jungle guide. Must do.

Right on the edge of the rainforest, I could have sat out on the patio all day and night listening to the sounds and seeing the wildlife. Saman is a wonderful host, friendly and professional. He speaks great English and is extremely knowledgeable about nature and the surrounding area. His family are welcoming and friendly and cook lovely food. They clearly work extremely hard to make the best of this place. We went on a 6k trail with him as a guide through the rainforest and learnt so much along the way. It was exhilarating being in the jungle and had a swim in a beautiful waterfall. I'd love to go back and do some of the longer treks, there is so much of the rainforest to see! If you love nature and true Sri Lankan hospitality then this is the place for you. I hope to return one day.

The Villa has a wonderful location on the edge of the Sinharaja rainforest. Our room was spacious and had a delightful private terrace with panoramic views. Saman and his family are excellent hosts and nothing is too much trouble. Saman took us on a guided tour of the rainforest. He is a brilliant guide and his sharp eyes observe all the wildlife. A special thank you to Saman’s brother’s wife who mixed up some traditional Sri Lankan medicine for our upset stomachs!

Price for the guided tours is not reasonable at all. We’ve read in the previous reviews that many guests took a tour with the host so did we. On our first day we chose 5 waterfalls tour, which started with the 30 minutes ride by tuk tuk to the other entrance. For our family of four (2 adults & 2 kids) we paid 90USD (children half price) for 3 hours, including the ride. Waterfalls are amazing, though there’s no wildlife at all from that side. Within 2 hours we finished the tour. Needless to say this tour wasn’t worth the price. On our second day for another tour we decided to check with the guides at the closest rainforest entrance. For exactly the same package (entrance fee, leech socks, English-speaking guide) we were offered half price. Yes, half. With all due respect to the hosts, be prepared to double pay here for the tour, otherwise take a guide at the entrance (insist on having an English-speaking one as many of them don’t speak English). The guesthouse itself can be definitely recommended.

The location is unbeatable - amazing view, close to the entrance yet away from other guesthouses. Great hospitality Very clean The overall rating goes only to the guesthouse and the hosts. We would love to rate it as exceptional but we were utterly disappointed with the price for the guided tours.

Great experience. Clean, neat rooms with a beautiful view. Solid service and tasty food. We did the rainforest tour with the owner and we loved it. He is very knowledgeable and sees loads of animals. Among others we saw 3 snakes and many other beautiful animals (monkeys, scorpion, spider, birds, lizards, etc). We definitely recommend this place!

Central location next to the rainforest. An oasis of calm with a beautiful view over the river, a great for bird watching. Comfortable and spacious bedroom which has glass casing - you feel in the jungle. A good sized modern bathroom with hot water and good towels. Very clean all round. Saman and his family were fabulous hosts, warm and welcoming, cooking delicious dinners and breakfasts. Great value for money. A magical experience.

The room wasnt completly sealed off from the outside so small animals could get inside. Luckily we didnt see a lot. The food was okay, typical sri lankan style.

Saman and his family were very friendly and welcoming. He also our guide in the sinharaja rainforest. It was the best day ever. The forest is so beautiful. The accomadation is a 5min walk to the entrance of the rainforest, so perfect location for the rainforest but ofcourse it is difficult to reach.

Spotless bedroom with great view across the river. Great authentic Sri Lankan food, cooked to local heat levels, which suits me as a British born Sri Lankan plus my sudu family. :) Great trek through jungle with Pradeep & really nice to talk to his elder brother Saman.

We had an amazing stay at Evergreen Villa. From the balcony you got a perfect view to the rainforest and a river. We saw a lot of guest houses there but Evergreen got the best position. Also you got a windows so also inside the house you can see the rainforest. In the evening there are hundreds of fireflies, very romantic. Our guided tour was just perfect. The price was very fair and we could observe all kinds of animals, a lot of different monkeys, huge green lizards, two kinds of snakes (7 snakes in total), little frogs, caterpillars,butterflies and much more. Our guide was very patient with us and even made a lot of stunning pictures for us. If you like betlenut, this is the place where you find the best in Sri Lanka. Furthermore, the food was just amazing. Devilled Chicken and Mixed Noodles were just perfect. The whole damily is very charming, helpful and reliant. We are very happy that we stayed at this beautiful place. Finally, it is important to mention that at the moment there are only 2 appartments. After finishing the house it will be just 4. So the atmosphere is very private. Thank you so much, we will never forget our stay at Evergreen Villa.

the place is amazing! the first we have seen our room we were speechless, the view is something than I’ve never seen in 10 year of traveling all over the world! host are amazing and we felt like home! take a tour in the Rain Forest, you won’t regret it!
