Friendly staff,and they were very responsive when I contacted them. The small boutique hotel is located deep in the jungle,. A river runs over rocks near the property with small waterfalls and pools to explore. Rooms are clean, balcony with splendid views .

We were in family rooms..Amenities in the room beddings, hot water, fans are good but lightnings are not working properly...No shampoo or bodywash in the bathroom... Family rooms are built on open ventilation concept but it doesnt match to the location...Specially must be conducted a pest control service... Food is good and tasty but no quick service....Take a long time to prepare them...No proper communication between the guest and hotel staff... Have to improve many areas...If the owners will be concerned about these things, very good and super location to stay....

Location..Super location that hidden in the forest...Nice environment and calm place...Two swimming pools are awsome...specially you can experience the natural pool and bathing in the Seethawaka river....

Cleanliness

The location is full of waterfalls and breathtaking views of a river and mountains. Cleanliness is to be improved which is hard to maintain as we discussed with staff as close to a river and location in a tropical rainforest. We indeed enjoyed our stay. The staff was so friendly and the meals were of course delicious.

Breakfast not worth it. Very cheap breakfast . It took more than 40mns to check in after hectic drive. Resort access road crustal. Disturbance with other people who around the resort. Cleanness not satisfied.

Ordered chicken fried rice that was really really tasty and enough portion for two. Location superb. Staff very helpful.

My partner and I stayed at Forest Shade Eco Resort earlier this month and we had a wonderful experience. We came cycling from Colombo and unfortunately had a small accident on the way. We called the hotel and they arranged a vehicle that picked us up straight from the hospital, everything went super smoothly and it was absolutely sweet how everyone was so concerned about us (we are fine now). This place is definetely the right spot when you need to recover from a bicycle accident or life in gereral. Our room and the attached balcony overlooked the river and we had a fantastic view! The food was lovely as well, we got the Sri Lankan option for dinner and breakfast and loved it. This place is a 100 percent recommendation and we will definetely come again on our bikes to explore the beautiful area a bit more.

It’s bit tricky to get to the hotel but was worth it! amazing atmosphere and staff was super attentive! I needed to arrange a cab to get back to Colombo, manager was super helpful with it! definitely would go back!

I don't even know where to start... I really don't have the words for the wonderful days we had here. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the wonderful team that made this stay the most wonderful for us! They are all such warm people! The concept of the hotel convinced me. We had the river view deluxe room, with direct river view was insane, mountain view and a great experience. The food was also a 10/10 (at least :D), every day the most delicious dishes are prepared with much love. The range of activities that have been offered here is so varied. River bathing, waterfall bathing, hiking across the river, hiking in the forest, natural swimming pools, infinity pools, the tea estate, jacuzzi pool, mountain hiking and many more. I would always come back to Forest Shade Deraniyagala and can only heartily recommend everyone to do so!!! Regarding the current situation, I wanted to mention that we never felt uncomfortable or unsafe at any time... We are so glad that we traveled to Sri Lanka and not be deterred by all the negative news . The people here are really so grateful and happy when people come, they live now once mainly from tourism and depend on it, it is so important. So please do not be afraid or doubt, come here and I promise you will not regret it. The last 2kms to the hotel is fascinating. It is not really difficult as some says. The hotel informs in advance about the condition of the road and they always assist you to come to the hotel and leave the hotel safe,...

The hotel was very attractive and hospitality was outstanding! The location was breathtaking as it connected with Mother Nature. The seethawaka river next to the hotel, natural swimming pool & infinity pools , Jacuzzi and the calm surrounding is very unique experience. All in all I had a marvellous stay and hope to go again soon... Even though some say the road to the hotel is difficult, it was not really difficult. We enjoyed the road because it goes through a forest passing water streams, rubber estates, tea estates. Anyway the staff assist you from the time of booking until your departure. You do not have to worry.

road was bit hard to reach to the property. Vehicles with low ground clearance can’t drive on the road.

Literally an eco resort. A place that can be recommended for a vacation in a completely silent environment. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Food and drinks are very clean and delicious. Highly recommended for couple or family stay.
