How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

It is so comfortable, if the common spaces could have AC, more people would mingle around. Now everybody escaped to their AC dorm rooms.
Very comfortable hostel, with possibility to store stuff in the kitchen fridge, use a water kettle and even cook up your own stuff on a stove. Highly comfortable dorm beds and bathrooms are absolutely clean!

wifi was rather slow and unstable,
funcitonal, not far from downtown and station. room works fine, aircon is good. the staff is kind and friendly. there is a shared kitchen where clients can leave their stuff in the fridge and cook.

WiFi could improve and maybe a washing machine would help.
The rooms were four sharing with restrooms inside the rooms and power socket on beds, the linen were clean and overall it is well. The managers Deevan and Abishek were helpful and accomdative. Also the house keeping lady Mrs Malar was nice and helpful.

The room is quite small for 4 people, overall it's still very good

Amazing staff . Super caring and kind . Went above and beyond to accommodate my needs It was the first place I arrived to in Sri Lanka and on my way out I made sure to come back again . When I didn’t have local currency for my airport ride the staff was kind enough to exchange money for me so I wouldn’t waste any time and risk missing my flight

I sincerely recommend Tourlux Hostel a truly an affordable and a comfortable place, situated in a posh residential/business area in the heart of Colombo city. Also I wish to commend Mr.Abhishek's commitment in rendering his kind hospitality to everyone aboard .

Amazing value for money, full use of a first floor apartment which even included a washing machine Dam was an excellent host, felt like we were staying with family- cooked us a delicious breakfast, offered us a free ride to Galle Fort, advising us what to do for our 1 day in Galle, then dropped us off at the bus station after we checked out

Comfortable beds, air con, very clean rooms, common kitchen, hot water in common bath downstairs. Amazing staff. Good atmosphere. Location is close to waterfront, few min on foot. To other places you can easily use taxi apps as uber or pick me. We so liked the place, that stayed there almost for a week instead of a couple of days. Thank you guys, you work a lot. No things to complain at all.

Nothing, already booked again for my return journey.
Great vibe, very friendly and helpful staff, lots of guests and spaces to interact, clean and comfortable. Location near the beach and close to shopping malls. Towels are for a small fee.

The manager Abishek was there to handle any of your issues whether within or outside the hostel. The hostel was comfortable and had the ingredients of a good hostel. Highly recommend…

Common area was very hot with only a fan, but not much of a big deal either. I'll come back!
Super friendly staff, very helpful :) Beds were okay with a locker and each a little light and a plug to charge your phone. A/C in the room was a big big plus!

Nice hostel for staying in Colombo after arriving in Sri Lanka or before leaving, but I felt like it’s not really a social hostel. The rooms are nice and clean, also with AC. The host was friendly. Location was ok and a good bus connection. Can recommend for a short stopover in Colombo!

The shower could have some kind of barrier because it's right next to the toilet and when you take a shower it's impossible not to get everything wet
Super nice staff, super location, super helpful, very clean, I was allowed to leave my luggage until I had to go to the airport and they even allowed me to take a quick shower before my 13 hour flight, bed was comfy, sockets right next to the bed

Can't complain much. It was a shared room and bathroom as mentioned in the property. I didn't find any issue with it.
The location could not have been better. Probably the best location to be in Colombo.
