Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaI spent 2 nights at Girilena Resort, and was very satisfied with my stay. The bed was comfortable (with a mosquito net), room was spacious, breakfast was amazing, and the hosts were the best! From the moment I arrived in Dambulla, Dilshan (the manager) was amazing. He helped me with any queries I had, helped plan day trips, provided transportation whenever I needed, and went above and beyond to ensure I had a great experience in general. I felt very comfortable staying here as a solo female traveller, and would highly recommend Girilena Resort :)

BulgariaWater pressure was kinda low from the shower.
We stayed in the tree house in Girilena Resort for 2 days. The house is really authentic and beautiful. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was really well designed. The AC was working fine and there are plenty of contacts for charging. There are two big monkey families living on the nearby rock, so expect visitors. The house is lokated on 5 min walk from the buda temple and in the same time is away from the main Road. Dilshan is just great! He arranged our trip to sigiriya for a reasonable price, drove us around the city and explained to us everything we asked. His english is very good. He helped us arrange our transport to Kandy and even drove us to bus station for free. Highly recommend Staying in Girilena Resort. We had a great time and will deffinetly stay again on our next visit.

NetherlandsThere was too much nature to our taste, for example monkeys were sometimes noisy while jumping on the roof and there were some bugs in the room - but it is just a note for people, not a question to the hotel. It is located in rural area, so people shall be morally prepared to meet more life creatures than usually ;)
Dilshan and his team are amazing, they were very hospitable. The check-in and check-out went smoothly. We planned our elephant safari in advance, but they also can arrange it if you ask. Also, they have own tuk-tuks, so they brought us to Sigiriya. The breakfasts were delicious and different every morning, so we were lucky to taste home-cooked Sri Lankan dishes. The location of the hotel is very close to cave temple, and surrounded by trees. We could see monkeys in the trees, nice birds, and even saw a beautiful tropical frog - for us it was very interesting. The room was big and clean. Bathroom was ok, but water pressure was a bit weak. We had our own mobile data, so we forgot to ask for wi-fi password, so cannot comment on that. The room had air conditioner, but it was a bit too loud to keep it at night, but it cooled the room well when we turned it on. We truly enjoyed our stay.

GermanyThe remote of the a/c didn’t work, so it wasn’t possible to change the temperature setting. Also the a/c and fan were very noisy. There was no mosquito net.
Located in a Dschungel like area. The house is surrounded by a nice garden with monkeys jumping around. You can walk in about 15 minutes to the cave temple. 5 minutes by Tuk Tuk to the bus station. The host is very polite and friendly. Amazing food for breakfast and dinner. Big room with a/c and a fan.

PolandNot so great location for the town center - walkable but better to take a tuk-tuk, especially after dark. Loud AC. Damp air in the room at the ground floor.
Location - in a green area, plenty of monkeys nearby, including in the garden of the property. Somehow they are well-behaved and do not raid the breakfast table :) Walking distance to Dambulla Cave Temple (a nice walk). You can also climb part way up the rock from the other side right from the property's doorstep. Friendly host and his brother. They have their own tuk tuks, so they can drive you around, including a "tuk tuk safari" to Sigiriya and Pidurangala (very recommended). They also arranged an elephant safari to Hurulu Eco Park for us, with pick up and drop from the hotel. Excellent breakfast - Sri Lankan dishes (a welcome break from the egg, toast and jam routine of other places), generous servings.

United KingdomThe Wi-Fi does need improvement will say your connected but doesn’t work, air con in one of the rooms my family stayed in was a bit sentimental however all this is an easy fix and shouldn’t put you off staying as was great!
Owner very friendly along with staff and also extremely helpful, tree house stay was cute we could watch the monkeys swing from the window. We ended up staying 2 nights rather than the 1 and Danish was very helpful at quickly swapping us over the next day to a balcony room ( you can still see the monkeys). Good location to Dambulla centre and about a 25/30 min drive away from Sigiriya.

United KingdomThe location on the evening might not be good as a female solo traveller but I’m sure if you ask he will take you to a restaurant in the tuktuk :)
It was amazing for the price, can’t fault any of the facilities and the breakfast was amazing. Owner was lovely, he took me to the bus stop in the morning which he didn’t have to do.

HungaryThis guesthouse is located 20 mins from the center of Dambulla but you will feel like you got into the the deep jungle surrounded with the mother nature itself. The first place in Srí Lanka so far i really felt like an appreciated guest. The owner of the place acted really like our personal guide through our staying and all of that in free of charge, he explained many things including the basic history of Sigiriya and even brought us to a place where we could see a wild elephand next to the road. They even picked us up and drop us off with tuktuk when we went out for dinner. Its already long but just one more thing to mention: I headed to the shop ( located 10 mins ago) for water when they just came after me and give me few bottles from their store to spare me the walking. Conclusion: RECOMMENDED Thank you Girilena!!!

ItalyThe tree house was not super clean as you may expect from a house in the jungle! Surrounded by monkeys that are great to see but very loud :)
We had a great experience at Girilena resort. The host Dilshan was the best, he gave us lots of recommendations for both things to visit and food (best restaurant ever in Dambulla) and he was very kind in carrying us around with his tuktuk. It was a wonderful SriLanka culture immersion! I would recommend the tree house for adventurer travellers :)

PolandFantastic place!!! 😍 Beautiful, spacious room on first floor with terrace overlooking on garden full of adorable monkeys! You can relax and enjoy the sounds of the garden. Clean and tidy, fresh white sheets. What makes this place exceptional is the stuff. Dilshan and his crew is so helpful and kind, caring about you and your comfort. My friend had birthday and he helped me organising surprise with birthday decorations and a cake. Phenomenal service. We enjoyed traditional Sri Lankan breakfast as well. We can also recommend the taxi service from the resort which has great price for sightseeing. I would definitely return! ❤️🤩

NetherlandsNothing!
Our host and the owner Dilshan was the friendlist guy! We were warmly greated and got a welcome drink. Dilshan told us about this to do in the area and was very informative. We felt free to form our own plans and he only guided us along the way. The communication was very relaxed. In the end Dilshan rode us around Sigiriya in his tuk tuk and showed us the sights. It was a fun day! The treehouse was all self made and we felt very close to nature. His whole property was great to see as it is all self made. Very impressive and calming since it’s in the middle of nature. The cave temples are close by and on walking distance.
