We stayed a total of 2 nights at the Golden Sky in Kandy and were warmly welcomed by Kumia on our arrival. The double rooms were clean and spacious with a great view of the city. We received helpful tips and information from Kumia and were also very happy with the recommended tuk tuk driver Imran. Overall it was a very nice stay and we can recommend the accommodation. Many thanks to Kumia & Imran for their efforts.

Nothing it was all perfect.

Honestly this place was incredible! The pictures don't do it justice, it by far exceeded our expectations. The views were breathtaking, the staff so attentive and the food was some of the best we have had in Sri Lanka - home cooked goodness 😋 there is also the bonus of puppies that come up and say hello. Imran was a trooper picking us up in his tuk tuk at any time we requested. We loved our stay and can't wait to come back.

The view was other worldly, you can watch Kandy wake up and go to sleep and it’s bliss. I chose this property from the kind reviews about the hosts here and it’s beyond true. I even arrived with two people I’d met along the way and the host found a room at last minute. If you’re going to stay over in Kandy (which can be covered pretty well in a day I learned) then stay here without any doubts!

This place is something special and really set the scene for our travels around Sri Lanka. The owner Kumia is a charismatic character and quietly spiritual who really follows the Bhudist way of helping those less fortunate than herself including employing those in need her standards of service is very high and her staff are attentive and kind always enquiring to see if you need anything, particularly offering tea which is free flowing . The food is great and the guys did a cooking demonstration for us 😀😀😀 The hotel is on the mountain side with a short but steep walk to get there or use readily available Tuk Tuks from town for little money. The rooms are large ,comfortable with a great hot shower with a balcony looking over stunning views and we mean stunning views!! The dining room is open plan, spacious, and a work in progress but a very comfortable environment with panoramic views which makes eating a tasty breakfast a great experience They have a driver Kader who services the hotel with transport he operates independently and has a tuk tuk and a car and has to meet Kumia’s exacting standards of service. He has been our driver for 3 days taking us on an unforgettable experience around Sri Lanka so much so that we are meeting him again 3 weeks later (today) for another 3 day trip. He is more than a driver , he is a translator, a knowledgeable tour guide, a negotiator and a really decent man with a great sense of humour and really good value for money with reasonable prices for his excellent service. We highly recommend Golden Sky

Location is not walkable but transport is easy.

A wonderful hotel located in the hills overlooking Kandy, despite this it is only a 7-8 minute ride to get there. Rooms are comfortable with good showers and excellent layout. The onsite food is good and reasonably priced. Sun sets directly infront of the hotel over the hills providing spectacular views from a private balcony. Incredibly friendly owners that will go out of their way to assist.

There was nothing that could have been improved

This was a fantastic find! At the time of our visit it had only been open 5 months so it's still a bit 'work in progress' but we couldn't have stayed in a better hotel. The absolute WOW factor is the views - there are fantastic vistas from every room and the view over virtually the whole of Kandy that you ger from the roof is simply amazing, especially at sunset or sunrise. I doubt you will find a better view anywhere in Kandy at this price! But it's not just the views that make the hotel special. The owner, Kumia, and her team could not have been more friendly or helpful. Kumia's post booking communication was probably the best I have ever come across and as a result we were able to sort out tour and transport arrangements before we arrived. The rooms are large, clean and very comfortable, with decent sized bathrooms and proper hot water. The hotel is only a short tuk tuk ride from the centre but you might as well be on a differnt planet: it's quiet, the air is clean and there is just no hassle. Very relaxing. If you're a bird-watcher then you're in for a treat as many of the local birds (barbets, bee-eaters, hawks etc.) use the trees just outside the hotel as a stop-over point and you have the chance of seeing quite a few species close up. The hotel serves breakfast (western and Sri-Lankan) and dinner to order and we ate the two out of the three nights we stayed. Food is delicious and freshly cooked, and reasonably priced. Kumia regularly visits the markets and you might get special treats depending on what she brings back! The hotel hopes to get the rooms on the second floor together with the planned roof terrace finished later this year. Most importantly there are plans to build a bar and yoga zone on the roof and once that is done the hotel will only become more of a destination. If you are visiting Sri Lankla now's the chance to book your stay in the absolute gem before it becomes too popular,

I couldn't be happier with my 2-night stay at Golden Sky! Totally loved it. From the very start, wre were made to feel welcome. Imran from the hotel team met us at the bus station and gave us a lift to the property. Situated atop the hills, the location not only offers unobstructed views but also provides a serene atmosphere, removed from the city center of Kandy which is yet only a short tuk tuk drive away. The hotel exudes tranquil vibes And what a delightful stay! The hotel is new and impeccably clean, offers reliable WiFi, and provides stunning views of the hills and sunset. The rooms, as well as the balconies, are generously spacious. They will also provide you breakfast optionse and accommodates lunch and dinner requests at a reasonable price. I extend my respect and appreciation to Kumia and sons, with a special thanks to Imran, Their hospitality was exceptional. I recommend the place wholeheartedly!!

Hello everyone! We stayed in the hotel managed by very kind family. They opened the hotel back in 2023, I think August. The accommodation is very worth of price as it is very pretty and comfy. There is also very good kitchen, preparing lunch, dinner, breakfest - very tasty! So highly recommend for everyone who want to experience nice stay in Kandy! Also, there is tuk tuk drive Imran who can show you what to do in the city - for example, he brought us to Herbal Walk to see Ayurveda practices and it was remarkable.

The place is very clean, the rooms are spacious, the view is awesome, and WiFi is good. Above all, the amazing hospitality by Kumudika and her family is beyond anything I have ever experienced. They've made an amazing dinner for me and really cared I try traditional delicious Sri Lankan food. I really recommend eating at their restaurant. I was looking for a place to stay, and instead I found a home here 🩵

One of the most enjoyable stays I ever had. The hotel's location is a dream – perfectly situated near attractions and conveniences, but also away from all the citys hussle and bussle which makes my stay even enjoyable. if you are planning on visiting this amazing place be sure to contact the owner before hand as she will make sure to pick you up. And the driver Imran will give you a good bearing on which places to visit if you are planning on sightseeing. The owner's warmth and dedication to ensuring your getting fantastic stay were topnotch. She always had a smile on her face and will get involved with you as much as you need and will make sure you will get the best out of your stay. Her can do attitude and personal touch and attention to detail added immense value to my short stay. Food was delicious. Being a local I naturally went for the option of local cuisine and it did satisfied my taste buds. Plus the restaurant view is amazing and you can just sit and relax while you sip a coffee or two. Everything inside the room was clean and well maintained. The tranquility of the surrounding area was the real highlight of my stay it provided a serene escape from all the hustle and bustle of my daily life. .....Definitely you should check out the panoramic view from the top floor..... Overall.. the hotel ticked all my "NEEDS" boxes. I definitely recommend this place to all who are looking for a claim and quite place to stay.

Google Maps made it easy to find the hotel, but it was unclear where the entrance was. A very small minus and I think this is quite easy to adjust.

Beautiful location with breathtaking views. I received a warm welcome. The staff is caring and helpful. It is a new hotel and all facilities are spick and span. The breakfast was very tasty and the infamous pancakes were great! I enjoyed the spectacle with the mischievous monkeys.

Lovely place to stay with the highlights being the delicious breakfast, the amazing views from the bedroom balcony and the incredibly friendly hosts. They helped arrange a driver who showed us Kandy and then another driver who took us onto our next destination!

Highly recommend this hotel. The facility is new, recently opened, super clean and because it's located on the hill, the view is amazing. You can go to the roof top in the morning to enjoy sunrise and breath-takig landscape.  Host is very friendly and helpful. She served us very tasty, traditional Sri Lankan food. She can also organise the cooking classes (not yet in official offer but if you speak with the lady, she will do it for you). Hotel will also help you to organise trips or you can rent driver to transfer you. We were served with fantastic breakfast and dinner (traditional food) - so don't hesitate to ask for the stay+meals option.  Room are spacious, with a big bed, balcony, clean bathroom and hot shower. At the end - we stayed extra night :-)

A recently opened hotel~~ a neat and simple interior.. elegant and sophisticated bedding.. a spacious and clean bathroom.. A view of beautiful city, Kandy overlooking from the balcony. Everything was satisfactory. Plus, the staff members were so good. - a pleasant, friendly manager Karmi and her son Sethum. we talked a lot , it was a good time. Lakshmi for making delicious bananapancake, a kind man Imran, grandma who hugged me and prayed for God's blessing. They all gave me a great memory. (i appreciate your hospitality) I like Kandy.. so i definately will go back. then i will stay this hotel again.

Firstly, the fried banana pancakes alone are worth the stay! Delicious and unique, the best breakfast of many I've enjoyed in Sri Lanka. Situated in the peaceful Hathana Hills, yet very close to the bustling city centre, the property has an astonishing 360 degree rooftop view of Kandy and far beyond. The family personify hospitality and the staff are friendly, informative, professional and courteous. I highly recommend you visit Kandy and hope you're lucky enough to book a room at the wonderful Golden Sky.
