Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyNothing to complain. Be ready to feel the heat - as the hotel is an open space, there are no ACs outside the rooms.
Staying overnight in a tree house is an experience in itself - you get to see, hear, and sometimes feel the nature around you. The tree-house we had was very comfortable and reasonably spacious. Linens were clean and beds comfortable enough. Our teenage son wanted to sleep on the upper floor in a single bed on a terrace, but changed his mind when he saw quite a few bugs on the mosquito net. It was a bit warm in the room at night, but the portable ACs could provide at least a bit of cool air around our beds. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and the breakfast is great. We also had dinners on both nights of our stay and it was great to watch food being cooked over coal on a traditional stove (I'm not sure it's the right word). Food prices are a bit high, but it tastes good and we had authentic Sri Lankan dishes - also part of the experience. The pool is a welcome feature and we used it after a day of exploration. Overall, the territory is well maintained and beautiful. All in all, it was a pleasant, nature-bound, authentic experience and we enjoyed our stay at the Ambasewana resort.

Saudi ArabiaThe Tree House could do with an AC upgrade, as the two units only blow air.
The place was in a great setting, really making you feel like a colonial explorer from days of old, especially in the Tree House. The local safaris topped that off, but with a lovely pool facility to cool off and rustic dining area too. Perfect for the jungle adventurers!

United KingdomNothing - the stay was amazing!
We loved the rustic style of the treehouse - particularly loved the bathroom and the feeling of showering outdoors! The food was amazing - we had breakfast both days, and we had their dinner buffet once. The staff were very hospitable and were available to help with anything that we needed at any time. The resort is kept very clean, and staff were working so hard at all times to ensure this .

BelgiumThe downside of the treehouse and open air bathroom is that all kinds of animals can get in there, and so it can become a bit messy! We also heard monkeys etc jumping on our (metal) roof a lot in the night, and the train going by at 3am.
Very nice location, facilities and treehouse! It felt very cool to be staying up amongst the trees. The staff were very friendly, and the breakfast delicious!

United KingdomJust a small thing to note but not a major criticism. To make sure all the pool beds have a mattress on them, otherwise the beds are hard and difficult to relax on
We loved its location and the nature around it, you really felt like you in the jungle, fabulous. Comfy beds

United KingdomNo fridge and the lights very dim in the room. Bitten loads here as the gardens have a lot of water around. Also note CASH ONLY. We had a problem at checkout. A reminder at checkin would have helped us to have the money ready.
We stayed in a tree house and it was a quirky, cleverly constructed room with outside shower. Basically equipped. Puzzled by the review which said it had a fridge. Ours did not! The pool was amazing as were the dinners and breakfasts. Home cooked Sri Lanka food. Some of the best meals we ate on our travels. The staff were great.

United KingdomNo negative comments.
I cannot recommend this accommodation enough. This was our best stay in Sri Lanka. The tree house room was very unique and has been skilfully crafted to provide good quality and well built accommodation. The room was comfortable, with a fridge and air conditioning. The outdoor bathroom allows you to feel immersed in nature. This is the true meaning of a “tree house”, with trees surrounding you and birds flying past while you shower - magical! The bathroom was kept clean and lovely and warm shower too. Just make sure not to leave any belongings outside as monkeys will steal it! The swimming pool area is clean and surrounded by jungle. The staff and owner were incredibly helpful and polite throughout our stay. The owner arranged a tuktuk for us to visit Sigiriya and Danbulla for the day for a reasonable price, and allowed us to pay in GBP rather than Rupee which was helpful. We had breakfast both mornings of our stay and the evening meal once, both were delicious and plentiful. 2 tips to improve - a safe in the room would have been helpful (although the accommodation and room felt trustworthy). We would have liked to pay on card, but this doesn’t seem possible in many Sri Lankan accommodations. Thank you for making our stay enjoyable and keep up the good work.

United KingdomWe stayed at the Habarana Tree House last week and have not stopped talking about it since. Firstly, it’s like something out of a movie. The design and build is the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen. The most authentic and interesting treehouses, the rooms were absolutely amazing. You will not stay in a more WOW place - trust me! The rest of the facilities are just as good too. I would say its the best designed swimming pool I’ve ever seen and all set amongst the jungle! The staff are an absolute delight. They were so kind, helpful and charming always checking if everything is OK. It is a family run business and you really feel part of it, they were so friendly. Finally the food was exceptional. All cooked fresh and before your eyes, the Aubergine curry was the best I’ve ever had. Thank you so much for an incredible stay we have already told everyone about you! Stay here - I promise you won’t regret it.

United KingdomNot a lot to dislike. Would have been good to have some shower gel etc in the rooms. Especially given the money for the treehouse but generally (it wasn't super cheap for Sri Lanka). On the price, I did think the treehouse was overpriced but, saying that, was an amazing room to stay in for the experience. Would have liked an alternative option for breakfast (especially for my wife) but was, on the whole, nice food perhaps a little too much fried pastries etc (traditional Sri Lankan pastries).
What an interesting place - we loved the vibe (which is why we picked it) - tree houses for rooms. Most of the grounds and some of the rooms are carved out of the surroundings. I specifically chose rooms which were tree houses - literally up in the trees. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and (because it wasn't available both nights) also stayed in treehouse. There is a smart looking pool which was clean. Didn't get a chance to use it though. The rooms themselves were basic but comfortable. They had a small fridge and tea point. The bathrooms were outdoors but totally private. Showering (and using the loo) with nothing but trees to cover you was amazing (but you need to expect the bugs and beware the monkeys). There is no points staying here if you're not interested in an experience. Food was good but not the best that we had in Sri Lanka. The menu is limited. As is usually the case, curry was about 7 dishes in total and was good. Bring your own alcohol if you want a drink (they have Lion beer, no soft drinks and no wine). They do have ridiculously expensive (for Sri Lanka) fruit smoothies/drinks (homemade). Breakfast was nice and fun. Slightly different both days but only traditional was available - you got what they gave you.
