We were staying three nights at the Ambasewana Tree House Resort. The resort is family-run and Ruwan with his wife Asha and the staff made our stay especially memorable. We had booked including breakfast. And what a breakfast it was: all the Sri-Lankan delicacies were served: egg-appam, milk hoppers, coconut pancakes along with the spicy alternatives of potatoe-stuffed paratha and coconut paratha. Everything home-cooked! Twice we also had our dinner at the resort and the spread we were served was again outstanding. Ruwan was very helpful in organizing transport to the Sigiriya Rock and the Dambulla cave temple. Habarana is definitely a good place to stay if you intend to explore the cultural triangle on day trips. And we recommend the Ambasewana Resort as your base station. We were there in May and it was actually too hot but the pool is beautiful and well-maintained. The mandatory afternoon dip was the perfect the cool down.

The road is close and noisy. lf you are a light sleeper this might be disturbing.

The staff is extremely nice and helpful. The owner can arrange transport from and to airport and to all other places for a reasonable price. The breakfast is plenty and very tasty. we had dinner on three nights as well. Every night different food was offered that was delicious. The pool area is beautifully settled between a terrace and a pond. A wonderful place to relax. The tree house is really nice. It is fairly high up and has two big beds and one more in the balcony. the bathroom is outside.

We stayed in the treehouse, which was very atmospheric. It has a bathroom attached that is partially outside, so you can shower under the trees. Air-con is available in the treehouse, which makes it comfortable to sleep. The owner was very hospitable and helped us with day trips and transport. Homemade breakfast and dinner was delicious. We swimming pool was fantastic, beside a little swamp area, where you could observe tadpoles, frogs and dragonflies while swimming. You really feel surrounded by nature. The location is close to a number of safari parks, and is also close to Dambulla, Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa.

This place is just amazing 😍 a treehouse in the middle of nature! So quiet and calm 🙌🏻 Our treehouse was awesome, with big windows and an outdoor shower. The Pool in this Place is so nice. Also the Food is just soo good. The breakfast and also Dinner! Highly recommend this Place.

If you decide to sleep in the tree houses, you shouldn‘t be scared of some smaller animals you might encounter. There‘s mosquito nets, but the bathroom is outdoors, so be aware of that (obviously).

Really cool treehouses built by the family themselves. The location is definitely unique. Amazing area all around, especially the swimming pool. The staff is amazing. They helped organize all the trips around, the safari was amazing. There‘s even a small crocodile in the little pond next to the pool.

The resort is a wonderful place, located near Habarana. It was our first stop after arriving at Colombo airport. The host and his lovely family did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. The traditional Sri Lankan breakfast and dinner was excellent and freshly cooked by the host’s wife. It is a lovely hideaway with lovely hosts. A perfect place to calm down or to start your journey on the island, plan a safari or hike to Sigirya or Pidarangula rock.

What an adventure to spend a couple of days in the Tree House! The kids enjoyed a lot. Breakfast and Dinner - top level of home cooked Sri Lankan cuisine. The host also prepared a birthday cake - Thank you guys! The hotel is well positioned to explore Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa and Mineriya park.

No wifi connection in tree house and the connection in breakfast area was bad. Also at night was chilly and there was no blanket in the tree house.

My tree house was amazing.The pool was also a great experience and the breakfast in the morning was very tasty. The staff were polite and speak enough english to communicate with.

Leaving was difficult.

This is a fabulous place to stay. the rooms are simply and tastefully done and equipped with everything you need. Hot water is plentiful in the bathroom which has an open air shower… a great idea where one feels in communion with nature but also very private. The pool is a real luxury and scrupulously clean. The staff are just brilliant. Nothing is too difficult for Asha and Ruhan who attended graciously and professionally to our every need. The food is fantastic. Breakfast set us up completely for the coming day. The grounds are also beautiful with fishponds and water lilies. I can’t find a fault. Finally, do not be afraid to come to Sri Lanka which is a magnificent country and suffered greatly with Covid.
