Nothing, it was all great

The owners were very nice and welcoming. I got a nice drink upon arrival. The room was very clean and spacious and the outside terrace where I ate dinner and breakfast was lovely. The owner took care of all of my transportation for my trips on both of my days which saved me from having to worry about any of this. I’d recommend staying here for a visit to the cultural triangle.

Everything! Lasantha's amazing hospitality. He picked us up from the railway station and organised fabulous trips which he took us to in his tuk tuk. The breakfasts which his wife prepared were splendid and delicious. We ordered dinner in advance as our train came in late and it was so tasty. In fact we are there every night (3) because it was so good. We booked an extra night as the homestay was amazing. The walk into Habarana takes about 7 minutes and the tourist sights are very accessible. New Star is in a lovely quiet location surrounded by trees

We stayed in the wooden A frame and it is new and immaculate with a view over the garden. We even saw hummingbirds. A 5 min walk into Habarana along residential little lanes. Delicious traditional breakfast and curries in the evening. The owner was so helpful arranging a way to collect tickets and helping us spot elephants nearby. Highly recommend.

Next time, we would choose a different room in the property - it wasn't clear from the description that it is a separate bungalow/chalet across the yard opposite the main building. Also, we would choose another ayurveda spa, as the one recommended was way too pricy compared to other options.

Friendly family, apart of nice and tasty breakfast prepared by the host, we been offered dinner for reasonable price. The host got his own tuktuk, can take you to town or nearby attraction also for very OK prices. We also arranged the safari tour to Hurulu Eko park via them.

We had a fantastic two night stay at New Star Homestay hosted by Lasanta and his wife Gayini. It’s a beautiful serene place in a quiet, leafy part of Habarana. It is really peaceful - the garden has guava, mango, banana, custard-apple, and coconut trees - along with a variety of flowers and shrubs. Birds woke up in the morning with their songs!! The beds were very comfortable. AC worked great. Nice hot water in the shower. We also had home cooked dinners here. Gayini is an excellent cook! We ate our meals on the beautiful balcony-veranda with a cool breeze. We highly recommended this place and we will definitely be back.

One of the nicest rooms so far after 5 week’s travelling around the island. Very helpful owner Lasantha who speaks great English and a delicious supper on our arrival. We only stayed one night as ready for beach again (!) but will come back after our Trinco beach fix to explore more. Easy to reach by train as well as bus. Highly recommended and a perfect base for visiting the area (Sigiriya, Danbulla..)

We’ve spent 3 night at Lasante’s garden house and we’ve really enjoyed it. The place itself is very nice, clean and quite spacious with hot shower and AC available. Lasante and his family were very kind. He helped us to plan our stay and he drove us in his tuktuk to all the places we wanted to visit. We highly recommend this place!!! Thank you for all!!! Super friendly host and made us stay at home with the fantastic host. Clean, comfortable and quiet place with a beautiful balcony view. Delicious local cuisine breakfast and dishes. The host helped us visit different places (spa, historical places, etc) with his tuk tuk.

The newly build cottage is very comfortable all we could wish for to rest after some tiring travels days. But the best was the family and its hospitality. The received our family with two small girls as part of their family and made us feel very comfortable and welcomed. Highly recommended. For the price...can't go wrong!

Excellent place! The rooms are spacious, very clean and modern. The place is quiet. There are only two rooms and are fully separated so you will not get noise from next door neighbours. The balcony is very nice to to sit there and relax. The owners are very friendly. Breakfast is delicious and even too much :)! Great location! Only 5 mins walk to big supermarket and bus stops. You can take bus easily to Sigiriya or also the tuk tuk is very cheap as the rocks are close by. There are direct buses to Kandy or Anuradhapura.

Highly recommended! My stay in Habarana was amazing, the owner will do everything for you to make you comfortable, he arranges tuk tuk and tours at reasonable price. He took me in his tuk tuk many times without cost, his wife cook delicious and also they can make you dinner as per request. I really had a good time! Thanks new star homestay ❤

Great accomodation in a quiet area of Habarana. The owner drove us on tuk tuk to Sigiriya, helped us to arrange a visit in tuk-tuk to Polonnaruwa and arranged a perfect Safari for a very reasonable price. We also recommend the tasty home-cooked dinner!
