If I should mention one thing then it’s the location that is a bit far from the center. But that doesn’t matter too much.

Hotel Heladiv is a little gem, family run, set in  beautiful tranquil gardens with a lovely clean pool and amazing staff. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone, and always with a big smile. The property is a little out of town, but the lovely owner is quick to help out booking you tuk tuks or other transport for longer trips. The food was great, curry dinners to be booked in advance as it is all cooked fresh. Breakfast was delicious. We had a great day with Sava, tuk tuk driver, taking us on an all day tour of all the sights, so informative and interesting. I would have no hesitation in recommending Hotel Heladiv to all my friends.

It was the only stay on my trip the other guests weren’t friendly, but I was out most of the time so it didn’t matter. The hotel is cement, so if you have someone loud, the sound will carry, but no one was completely disrupting.

This property is so relaxing. it’s a cross between attainable luxury and guest house. the food was really great. Staff was friendly, pool was beautiful and you can hear the monks chant. Rooms were comfortable and you didn’t get charge an arm and a leg for AC.

This little hotel is so beautiful, we were amazed by the beautiful lush green garden that was in front of our room. The owner and staff were really nice and always helpful and kind. We had only one night but we really enjoyed it. The food was great. Our room was nice and big and very clean. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. We enjoyed our little dip in the swimming pool and then read a little on our terrace.

Just a personal preference but I found the bed very, very hard and I couldn't sleep so well. Possibly only an issue if you are a bit boney (like me!) but you might find yourself waking up in the night with a few aches and pains and needing to turn over a fair bit - a topper or something may have helped (but I am aware that some people prefer hard beds - so this might be just me). Getting hot water with decent pressure can be a bit tricky, but really made no difference to how much we loved the place.

Nearly everything - we loved this place. really lovely and friendly staff, absolutely beautiful gardens that it is set in, decent food, and a lovely, well equipped and big room (and wet room) with excellent AC. Felt like a 5 star place. We were really pleased with our stay here and would have stayed for longer if we have known how good it was going to be (and if the bed had been a little more comfortable).

The flooring was at all different levels, you really need to watch your step, if not you could take a tumble. I could hear the neighbours next door in the evening and early morning. As the hotel is out of town, you need a car / driver to take you for dinner. If mosquito's love you, be prepared to be eaten alive, even though the staff smoke the area.

The owner has really spent his time cultivating the outdoor space, the pool and gardens are amazing. The rooms were very simple and outdated, I had requested a double bed and I got a family room. The bathroom and shower configuration was a little weird and tight. The super fast WiFi was fantastic. The upstairs area had a lovely couch area that you could relax and be apart of the wonderful gardens. The staff were helpful, great breakfast!

We stayed for two nights and it was a fantastic time. The breakfast and dinner were super delicious and the staff is so friendly and helpful. The also organised us a safari trip to wilpattu and a very nice transfer to negombo. The hotel has a very nice pool, the place is so lovely with a very green and beautiful environment.

We stayed there in March. Be prepared for insects specially at night. But if you care enough about closing your rooms door, you will be safe there.

The owner Mr. Opali was a dear. Definition of a good person. He helped us with everything with all his wish and power. You can trust him with the tour offers as I checked prices with other agents. We experienced a tropical stay in a well managed boutique hote there. Curries were the best we had in Sri Lanka.

Breakfast and rice&curry dinner were excellent, but other meals were a bit hit and miss. Mosquitos were around but not too bad.

Nice staff and very pleasant property in more rural neighborhood on outskirts of town. We had comfortable bottom room with kettle, fridge, and terrace. Room stayed naturally cool (plus fan and good AC as needed). Pool is nice and grounds are very well kept. We enjoyed walking a bit in local neighborhood, as well as taking bicycles to town and to explore all the ruins, temples, and museums of Anuradhapura. If you are comfortable on bikes, you can cycle 5km along the big lake to town on paved and dirt roads. But note it does get hot afternoon if sun is out, so suggest to leave early, even before breakfast as we did.

Service is amazing! Everyone was so kind and helpful. we checked out a little later and that wasn’t a problem at all. The breakfast was delicious! They helped arrange a tour to the ancient city and mihintale, guids knew a lot and could tell us a lot about the places we visited.
