Great location and hosts, amazing breakfast

I honestly can’t fault this honestly.

The breakfast was exceptional. Served by Alanka’s wife and mother. Fresh tropical juice and fruits. And delicious roti with sambal and dhal. Then pancakes and even fried eggs. Great breakfast served with wonderful Sri Lankan smiles.

The family was friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to help us with our next part of the journey and gave us great recommendations. The hotel was peaceful, clean and there was a big breakfast. The room was filled with the sounds of wild birds. There is a restaurant around the corner of the hotel which sells delicious Sri Lankan food.

Nothing- the host asked me for suggestions and I mentioned having cereal for children and he actioned it immediately. Such a thoughtful and well thought business approach

Such a welcoming and friendly family who couldn’t do enough for us to make our stay comfortable. Thank you for a restful night after a long flight and a beautiful breakfast. We still haven’t found any other roti in Sri Lanka to beat their awesome breakfast one.

Lovely family running this guest house. Close to the airport. We had a big room with nice modern bathroom facilities. Air conditioning worked great! Nice welcome drink. We skipped the breakfast as we had an early morning flight out.

it was not as much as we did not like it but more that we typically have at least a bottom sheet on the bed rather than the use of a comforter. The bed was very comfortable though and the light blanket suitable for the warm conditions.

Breakfast was amazing. The family host and hostess were very helpful and friendly. They seemed to go out of there way to make sure we were comfortable with our stay. Having the ability to open the window over night and wake to the birds was lovely. Even during a rain storm it was pleasant to sit under the roof on the top patio and enjoy the storm blowing through. I had the best coffee there! I would almost rate this family homestay a ten due to the coffee and breakfast alone, but I seldom give 10's - but they are a near 10.

Alanka is a fabulous host and will help you with everything you need. The breakfast was amazing and his place feels so like home. I would thoroughly recommend a stay at Henderson Airport Residence.

Staff/host family is so SO kind and truly care about each guest’s experience. Accommodations were as shown in photos/described. Beds were comfortable and breakfast was good! I wish we’d had them pick us up from the airport as well.

The staff were on incredibly hospitable and friendly without being overbearing. The rooms are clean and the bed was large and comfortable, exactly what I needed after a tiring day of travel. The breakfast a was delicious yet balanced meal. Overall it was comfortable and stress free. I would recommend this to anyone hoping for a stress free night before departing from the airport.

My stay at Henderson Airport Residence was absolutely amazing!! I don't even know where to start - Alanka, Kosala, and the entire family/staff are incredibly kind, genuine, helpful, knowledgeable, and truly caring. When I arrived, I had heat rash on my legs from walking around in Singapore, and they immediately gave me fresh aloe vera and an ice pack to put on my legs. They consistently checked in on me to make sure I was okay and gave me more aloe vera throughout the day (they also put some in the fridge so it was extra cold and gave me some to take with on my trip). My heat rash completely healed in one day! The next day Alanka drove me to Kandy and we stopped at an Elephant sanctuary on the way where I got to help bathe an Elephant! This was a really cool experience and I would not have known about it without Alanka. He came with, took photos and videos and sent them to me later, and literally paid for my ticket (which I paid back) because I had not stopped at an ATM yet. It felt like I was spending the day with an old friend - we had an amazing chat about Sri Lankan culture, Buddhism, and our families - it was a day I will never forget and an amazing way to start my travels in Sri Lanka! They also have really cute dogs and the breakfast was delicious:)

I arrived quite tired from the airport and the hosts made the stay very easy and comfortable for me. He picked me up at the airport and had the room prepared with a comfy bed and mosquito net. In the morning they gave me a nice breakfast and everything went smoothly. The host is also a guide and can offer you multiday trips around the island according to your needs. I didn't use this option but he took me from his house to Kandy and the ride was pleasant. We talked about the culture and religion and I even got a recommendation for a stay in my next location which was also great. Thank you!

We were thrilled with our stay here at Henderson Airport Residence. Alanka offered to collect us from the airport for a small fee and gave me instructions on where to get money and a SIM card at the airport before he collected us outside. His hotel is only about 10-15 mins from the airport so a perfect spot for your first night if your flight is later in the day. He was hugely accommodating and even upgraded our room because he said that we were nice and understanding people. The room was warm but the fan is plenty adequate for sleeping and the bed was very comfortable. We were trying to stick to a tight budget so Alanka organised a driver to take us to our next location who is equally very lovely and accommodating. The breakfast in the morning was lovely, fresh juice, tea/coffee, toast, eggs, pancakes, curries and roti. And we could ask for as much as we liked. Alanka has a massive map of Sri Lanka and gave us lots of tips on where to go and what to avoid. We could not fault this service in any way - we loved our stay!

The host was very very nice and welcoming. We arrived from the air port at 4am and he allowed us to check out after 1pm so we can have some degree of normal sleep. His English was very communicative, so we were able to comfortably understand everything. The breakfast was great, very tasty. The beads were very big and comfortable.

There is definitely room for improvement. It is a little bit outdated and had barely any natural lighting. The host was very friendly but tried too hard which made it feel pushy, especially over text message regarding airport transportation. It felt we didn’t have a choice. In reality he was less pushy and very friendly.

The room was basic but comfortable after a long flight for one night. We got a free upgrade which was a pleasant surprise. The people were very nice and loving. Breakfast was varied and more than enough.

Alanka and his family were so hospitable. They cooked us dinner (for a small fee) and breakfast the next morning (included). Anything we needed they sorted out for us. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and suited our needs.
