How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The only thing I would warn people about is how hot the rooms can get without any A/C but if you’re not bothered then it’s perfect. The room also comes with a fan so wasn’t a problem for us!
It’s a very peaceful atmosphere the owner plays relaxing music in the reception and greeted us so warmly. We stayed with him for part of our stay in hiriketiya but every time we passed he would also come over and make sure we were okay. the location is also perfect with it being in the hub of great local restaurants and only a 5 minute walk from the beach. The rooms are definitely worth what you’re paying for. Very basic and perfect for budget travelling.

The floor was filthy, everything in the room needs a good scrub. Also my room was adjacent to the restaurant so there's music from early morning to after dinner. A problem if you want to rest during the afternoon
The bed was confortable and the location was good. Price about right

Cafe next door, does play music loud. Definitely manageable but keep that in mind if your trying to sleep early (before 9pm).
Very basic stay, everything you need. Host family is beautiful and happy to help wherever you need. Keep in mind, what you get is exactly what you pay for. Very basic. Traveling on a budget my partner and I where more then happy.

Room got hot but was fine with fan on.
Property is super chilled, hosts were very friendly and welcoming, the breakfast was good and filling! Room size good, did get quite hot but with the fan on was fine. Location 5 minute walk to the beach, lots of good restaurants close by and a 3 min drive from the main road for shops ect.

Very nice villa ))) I came the first of January))) it was a wonderful breakfast , tasty coconut) good location to Hiri beach. Good price!))) People are very helpful here))) I love Dickwella very much!!

Wi-fi did not work.
The room itself was ok. It's relatively cheap and seemed quite new. Mosquito net did it's job and the fan kept us cool. If you don't spend the days here, it's fine for the night (the beach is nicer anyway). The beach is reachable by short walk and there's two or three decent restaurants near the hotel.

At the moment , building noise across the street and on the side of the guesthouse, but did not disturb me as during the day I was at one of the beaches. When finished the guesthouse will be much improved

Stayed here for 2 nights. Partly booked it because they had a restaurant (nice to meet people that way), but that was not open. Staff is friendly, but hardly spoke any English. Room was okay, not great. No warm water shower. But then again, it was cheap - so value for money was good.

The location is quite close to the main road and also just a 5 minute walk through the village to the beautiful Hiriketiya Beach. Great location, plenty of shops for essentials around.

Female travelers DO NOT stay here. The manager is creepy AF. He will sollicit your attention non stop, ask inappropriate questions, mostly about your partner, grab his man boobs when you ask him something, and pout if you turn a cold shoulder. I should have gotten out of there earlier but decided to stay because i was not really scared, just very very annoyed.

We had a lovely stay at Orchid Villa. The room was clean and spacious and the location is just few hundred meters from the beach. The owner is a very warm and kind person always happy to help with anything. We also had some great conversation at his garden patio. We would definitely recommend this place. Great value for money!
